Something always happens, but sometimes it varies. The very first symptom is burping alot. Then usually heartburn and reflux. If it is bad, I end up getting really bloated like I am pregnant. Usually 24 hours later or less, I have D, followed by 2-3 days of C! Along with that, alot of times I have brain fog, depression and fatigue. Also, when I am first gluttened...

ARCHIVED Oat Based Products?
key replied to kimber's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some people use McCann's Irish oatmeal. I tried it with my son and I, and we did have problems with it. There are some other people here that eat them though. I wouldn't use mainstream foods with oats though, because they are usually contaminated with wheat. MOnica -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Still Coming Back Positive--help!
key replied to jmengert's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am glad you posted this. I am going to go back and see if they will rerun my tests. I have been really sick lately and I can't figure it out! It is driving me crazy! I too never eat at restaurants anymore and I do share a kitchen and cook gluten for my family, but I try and be very careful and wash my hands frequently. I feel like my GI tract is messed... -
Cassidy, I am wondering if my reflux is from being gluttened. I am pretty sure it is. It started with that. I got gluttened from Taco Bell like 6 weeks ago and I got gluttened at home a few times too. All of course by accident. Oh and once from PF Chang's when they messed my order up. I am hoping it will get better soon. Yesterday I quit eating for the...

StrongerToday, yeah, I went on the Lexapro for IBS. It has helped with the IBS part. Although I am having some fun reflux right now. Monica

ARCHIVED Got Really Sick This Afternoon
key replied to happy4dolphins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had the mini one's and the mini reeses and felt sick too. I don't know. They are supposed to be gluten free, I thought. Monica -
STeph, I was taking this for a week or so for reflux that wasn't being helped by anything else. At first it seemed to help for days and then all the sudden it seemed to not help at all. Possibly making things worse. SO I quit doing it. It is NASTY to drink and I was willing if it was working, but it isn't working. I was having nausea too and the same feeling...

Norah, Have you tried Nexium or Prilosec?? I am taking prilosec now for four or five days. It is helping somewhat I suppose. I am vegetarian, gluten free and today just went dairy free and sugar free! IT SUCKS! I don't know what to eat and currently my stomach is growling, because I am SO hungry! I have had baked potatoe (plain with salt), cooked carrots...

ARCHIVED The Mixed Up My Order At Pf Changs!
key replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have had mostly bad experiences at PF Chang's too. For about a year they didn't tell me that there lettuce wraps were not gluten free if substituting tofu for chicken in the lettuce wraps, until I moved to a different location and I was at a different restaurant. So that was why I kept getting sick, EVERYTIME!!! So then last time I went, I ordered something... -
I think if you are sick that many times a day, you could have celiac disease. AT least see a GI doctor to run blood tests and do a biopsy of your small intestine. Celiac disease can cause weight gain in some people. Sorry you have been sick. I hope you find the answers soon. Monica

Thanks for your help guys. I think it is probably related to reflux. I haven't had it happen since I started Prilosec four days ago. I think I will go to a GI doctor here and have a scope done. I haven't ever had one done yet. The prilosec hasn't completely improved my symptoms, but seems to have helped a little bit. I am going to go dairy free and sugar...

Lexapro 10mg has worked for me well. I don't have too many noticeable side effects. If I do, I am not sure it is from the Lexapro. It has helped me have a more positive outlook about being sick all the time!! HA! It has helped me alot I think. I also quit homeschooling my oldest son, so that relieved alot of stress and responsibility. I am sorry you are...

I am SO frustrated! I know I need to go back to the GI doctor and have a scope and see about reflux. I know I drink too much caffeine, eat too much dairy and too much sugar! I just can't seem to get a grip! I have gained about 3 pounds. I was underweight. I feel like I am always nauseated or having C or D or reflux or heartburn or some sort of indigestion...

ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Help?!
key replied to concerned-mom061's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I didn't read all of this, but the first page. I am SO sorry for all you have gone through with your little girl! I know when I was going through the worst with my son it made ME physically ill. Have you tried goat's milk?? I don't know if that would help at all or if she would even drink it, but it sounds like she is in a desperate situation. It sounds... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Nodules And Possible Cancer.
key replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have a friend's husband going through the same thing right now. He has decided to have the nodules out and his thyroid. He doesn't want to sit around worrying that it could be cancer. His has grown, but his biopsies were negative. I think that is the risk. The biopsies aren't always 100% accurate and they would rather make sure it isn't cancer. He is... -
Same thing here. I have been gluten free for a year and a half. I will be doing great for two weeks or even a month and then I feel as if I have been gluttened and it takes me a week to get better. It is VERY frustrating. I am going to quit using shampoo with wheat in it and see if this helps. I also haven't replaced my pots, but I think I will. SOmeone else...

Can't salmonella cause those symptoms too. I know it causes stomach pain, D and muscle aches, but I am not sure about fever. It doesn't sound very fun at all and I am sorry you are so sick. I would stick to plain foods. Applesauce is a good one or children's pedialyte pops or drink. You could also go to an urgent care facility if you really feel bad. Monica

This is really bothering me. The past few weeks on and off I will be doing anything or be somewhere and just feel like I am going to throw up. I get panicky and it is an aweful feeling. My heart starts racing and I feel a bit nauseated. I have never thrown up when this happens, but I am extremely good at not throwing up. Knock on wood, I haven't thrown up...

ARCHIVED Book-guide To Gluten Free For Vegetarians
key replied to ravenselene's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am not vegan, but have always been vegetarian. I have had SO many people tell me I need meat to be healthy. For me, It just isn't going to happen. I have never eaten it and it doesn't appeal to me at all. I wouldn't have the first clue how to cook it. There are SO many options out there that are vegetarian and gluten free. Eating out may be a bit more... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Disouraged!
key replied to hannahsue01's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is interesting to me. My second son tested negative for celiac disease, but I have it and my youngest son also has it. My second son has very normal bowel movements other then not going sometimes for two days. When he does it isn't a consistency of constipation. He did drop down to the 10th percentile on his growth chart from 50th percentile in six months... -
I also can't stand winter. I end up depressed in January and February every year. Last year I started going to the tanning bed to "feel better". I can't stay warm either. The other reason I don't like winter is that I LOVE the sun. I " worship" it when it is out. If it is a nice day out, I am out sitting in the sun all summer. Forget shopping or doing...
