  1. I have tried apple cider vinegar when I have heartburn. I don't know if it works long term for everyone. It is very nasty and I just couldn't bring myself to drink that all the time. It only seems to work for me for about 30 minutes too. I did have bad indigestion the other night though and it helped instantly, so it must help some. Right now I am not...
  2. John, Do you have someone to give them to you? I would be horrible at giving myself a shot. I realize that if I were to have diabetes, I may have to learn. I am sure the shots are the best if you are really deficient. I am not sure about sublingual brands or if it works as well. My guess would be it doesn't work as well, or the doctor would have ordered...
  3. The prep wasn't so much fun, but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had something for nausea though. The stuff they gave me to drink tasted absolutely horrible. It could have been much worse though. The procedure itself was actually nice as they knocked me out. I woke up with no discomfort whatsoever! Make sure they are sedating you and you will...
  4. I too get major indigestion usually, belching and sour stomach. I find it hard to eat out without getting sick. Monica
  5. I too have given up. I will go with family and do what Cassidy does. The fear of getting sick, finally drove me to quit all together. I haven't eaten out at all in 3 months. It is sad sometimes, but I do feel as if our family is probably eating healthier. We can't eat fastfood ect. I also console myself that 100 years ago everyone ate their own food and there...
  6. Ground flaxseeds are good for you and are supposed to be the healthiest fiber. I try them, but I am not sure how much they agree with me. SOmetimes they just make me more bloated. I have used Citrucel and it is a gentle fiber and bulking fiber. It works well, but gets old. I haven't tried the one's you mentioned, sorry. Monica
  7. I live close to Baltimore. Actually my husband works at the hospital there. I would be interested in joining you guys. I have never done one, but sounds fun. I will look for your website. Monica
  8. I had two jars of the peanut butter. ONe almost gone and one just opened. My kids have been eating this stuff for months. I hope they are ok. I through them out and bought some Jif today. Nice of them to inform us now, since it started in August. Monica
  9. I have been doing this 18 months and I don't feel like it is truelly getting any better. For me it seems to go in cycles. For awhile I seem to enjoy gluten free foods I can have and then I am back to feeling depressed that I can't eat out, the rest my family eats gluten and I make it for them and watch them eat it, they order delicious pizza and eat it in...
  10. So does anyone else drink the Mocha's at STarbucks. I had been drinking them and then was getting sick and thought it might be that. It probably isn't that, but most of what i have read says everything is gluten free, except stuff with chips and then the risk with frappacino's. Monica
  11. I would say go ahead and suffer for a month and have a positive diagnoses. If gluten still makes you sick, despite having a negative diagnoses, then go gluten free anyway. I have been gluten free for 18 months. My blood work was borderline for celiac disease then. I had been gluten free for two months. It made me so much better to be gluten free at first...

    ARCHIVED 15 Years

Hi Molly, congratulations to you and your family for 15 years!!! I can relate to your parents desperation of a very sick little girl. That article is amazing! Watching a child waste away without a diagnoses is heart wrenching. You were even sicker then he was when we found out. So, just curious as what you want to be?? You seem very driven for a young...
  13. Have you two tried Zofran for gluttening. My doctor gave it to me for my colonoscopy so I wouldn't throw up with the prep. It worked great and I had no side effects, such as drowsiness. Monica Oh, first question. I haven't really been able to tell how long my gluttenings last, but before my bowel habits return to normal it is about 3 days. The idea of...
  14. I have to say with all the stress you have been under, there is no wonder that you are having problems. I for one have been under a tremendous amount of stress with my two kids health issues. I have three boys. I have seen what you have been through in the past year and it is crazy. As far as falling apart at 30, I have to agree, this is exactly what happened...

    ARCHIVED Er Doctor

I am sorry you had such a hard time at the ER. Seeing your child in pain is aweful. I saw you mentioned warm milk. Is it cows milk? Any amount of cows milk can cause constipation in some kids and people. It is just a thought. I know it helped one little boy I know to switch to soy. I hope you find the answers. Take care, Monica
  16. I am getting Iron Infusions every week for 8 weeks. SO far I have had 2. AFter the first one, my blood hadn't improved, but she said she didn't expect it to yet. Anyway, I have been gluten free for 18 months and assume that my iron has been low most of that time. I am still have stomach issues alot, but not sure what the problem is. My tests for celiac were...
  17. THe diagnoses in kids with blood work isn't accurate. My GI doctor even said this. THey of course didn't tell me that when my son had his blood work. The IGg was the only thing positive on my son, but he was only 1 year old at the time. Anyway, he kept getting sicker and we made him gluten free and he started growing and got better. The biopsy would be your...
  18. My whole stomach hurt. Kind of burning or something. I think from all the biopsies they did. I had both at the same time too. Anyway, Tylenol helped me. My problem wasn't so much gas. My mom was in pain longer then I was, but she had a polyp removed. Monica
  19. I am glad you figured it out. It is SUCH a relief to have them be healthy again. It was like the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. Monica
  20. I just did the Fleet Phosphosoda with Dulcolax (4 pills). It wasn't bad. My mom is doing the Nulitely today, mag citrate, dulcolax and Reglan (6 Pills) to keep from puking all the stuff up!! I think her doctor is trying to kill her. THis is her first one in ten years, but she has had like 6 in the past. I am worried for her, because it sounds SO bad! The...
  21. Michelle, I am sorry you aren't completely healed. What was your Ttg level? Did they recheck that? It sounds like you are absorbing more then you were. How did they detect your villi were still flat? Could they tell by just looking or did they repeat the biopsies? I just had biopsies done, but haven't heard anything yet. From looking they didn't see anything...
  22. Janie, Welcome to the board. I understand how you feel. I too went gluten free and then 2 months later had the blood tests and they were borderline positive for celiac disease. AT first I felt SO great and things got better. THat was like 18 months ago and for the past year I have struggled on and off with stomach problems. I think I am very careful to not...
  23. I have been gluten free for 18 months. I also still have digestive symptoms that come and go. I just had an endoscopy and colonscopy with biopsies, but don't know the results. My iron levels are very low and I am very symptomatic. I saw a hematologist and just had my first iron infusion today. I will have 8, one every week. I am hoping they help me. My internist...
  24. Cindy, I too seem to have some IBS issues besides the celiac. I figure it is either that or cc from somewhere. It is very frustrating. I will be doing great for awhile and then bam. I don't really have an answer for you. My guess is that after going gluten free maybe we have other intolerances or it is cc. I am trying to avoid dairy and beans for now. We...
  25. I too get a reoccurring rash on my bottom. I don't know if it is DH or not. It comes and goes and leaves scars. It started about 2 years ago. When I have pointed it out to doctors they want me to have it biopsied by a dermatologist, but like I said it comes and goes, so it is hard to get it biopsied when it is there. They have wondered if it is DH and so...
