  1. I too had lost my appetite while I was eating gluten. In fact, I never ate supper. Just wasn't hungry and then if I did, I would feel sick and not be able to go to sleep at night. SO like someone said. I think the reason I don't overeat and forget to eat, is that I don't like to feel sick. I still have certain foods that seem to not agree with me totally...
  2. I used to struggle with anorexia in high school. Would just not eat for days, had wierd food things, like only eating one bowl of cereal for the whole day. Did that for three months. I never got severely thin and didn't lose my menstrual cycle ever, but my family definitely worried about me. I was the worst in high school for sure and it went on and off....

    ARCHIVED Embarrassed...

Wow, that is awful. Yeah, I hope they never have celiac or some other disease themselves or their children! They were very rude to you. Obviously they don't understand the disease at all, but that doesn't give them the right to be that rude to you. Yeah, I have to say that eating at other peoples houses, restaurants and situations like that are the hardest...
  4. Jen, I have three kids and my youngest has celiac. It is definitely challenging to keep everyone fed in this house. I am trying to be very vigilant about being gluten free. I had borderline test results after being gluten free for 5 weeks. THe GI doctor thought I had it though too. Anyway, my mom has questioned it to me several times. Then one day about...
  5. I had all the gas, bloating, nausea(sort of constant low grade), heart burn, belching, bone pain, bruising, anxiety(low grade), abdominal pain at night especially and IBS (back and forth between D and C). Now when I get gluten, I start belching, VERY nauseated (worst symptom), bloating, then IBS symtpoms again for a few weeks, bone pain and fatigue. For me...
  6. Jen, I never took the Lexapro 8 months ago, but had a sample. I was complaining about my legs aching alot to my hubby that is an MD (Radiologist). He was the one that thought maybe I should take them, because the constant struggle of my legs aching, mainly fatigue seemed to be getting me down. Well, I would be mainly fine some days and then just very fatigued...
  7. Currently I am using BEd Head. I believe it is the moisture Maniac. Anyway, as far as I can tell there isn't any gluten in it. No oat stuff either. Alot of shampoo and conditioner does have wheat starch that I have checked. I haven't called to be sure though. Monica
  8. Mine was self diagnosed. I was sick all the time. My son had just been diagnosed with celiac. I had had a bagel from Panera. It made me sick the whole day. Nauseated, belching, bloating, yuck. THat was it. THen I decided I had to try gluten-free. Started feeling better in a week. Had borderline blood results after being gluten-free for 5 weeks. THat was enough...
  9. I had an OB doctor give me the Lexapro. I was going through a tough time 8 months ago because my son had been diagnosed with nf1 and then he was having symptoms of celiac and was undiagnosed yet. Plus my health was suffering. I ended up having celiac too. SO I was rather discouraged at the time. Now that I have been gluten free and my son is ok, I felt great...
  10. I don't know as far as weight gain goes on the gluten-free diet. I am not underweight exactly, but my mom thinks I look very thin for me and some other people do to. I don't try to diet, but eating a vegetarian diet that is gluten free would be almost impossible to gain weight. I eat whatever I want and don't gain weight. I have been gluten free for about...
  11. I would love to have Thin mint girlscout cookies, a sub sandwich, bean burrito from Taco bell and go to Olive Garden and eat everything!!! Ok, but I do enjoy not having horrible GI issues! Ya'll have really made me start missing foods I can't eat anymore! Oh yeah, a REAL homemade Nestle TOllhouse chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven with a glass...
  12. 1.) Pamela's Pancake and Waffle mix. 2.) Kinnikinnick English muffins and frozen pizza crust and donuts. 3.) Mission corn tortilla's 4.) Nature's Path Cornflakes-fruit juice sweetened 5.) Tinkyada pasta Then of course naturally gluten free foods.
  13. I too am vegetarian and was hungry all the time. Most recently though I started eating less, because I think I got so down about the diet and tired of cooking. I like soup alot. I also find that adding cottage cheese, eating eggs, not giving up cheese. If I eat a vegan diet I am just starving constantly. I don't like to overeat at a meal either, because I...
  14. Did you feel nauseated on it? That part gets worse every day. Has it helped you? THanks for your reply. Monica
  15. Well, I really don't feel that I need anything. I just wanted to not feel so fatigued, which I guess started to make me depressed in some ways. Plus I got glutened a few weeks back and I think I am still recovering from that. Anyway, thanks for answering my questions. I will probably just take half for a couple of days and then less for a couple of days....
  16. Ok, for about two months my legs have been aching. I am very fatigued I guess. I went to the doctor. I think my thyroid was ok. Anyway, someone had given me Lexapro about 8 months ago. The not feeling well has made me feel kind of down, just because I can't get done the things I need to. So my husband suggested I start taking the Lexapro. I didn't really...

    ARCHIVED Grieving

Definitely the most depressing part for me is not being able to eat out at a restaurant anymore or just go to someone's house without being a nuisance, as I feel I am! Also having people not really believe that this disease is real. Also trying to stay gluten free in a house full of gluten. THat right there is probably the most annoying part. I don't know...
  18. I don't eat meat, so giving up dairy seems pretty depressing. Along with the gluten that is. Anyway, I am curious as to if dairy could cause bone pain. My legs ache alot. Of course alot of it seems to be fatigue. Just wondering. I don't get GI symptoms from eating dairy. Thanks, Monica
  19. I have had the same problems. My family can't see how I survived 31 years without knowing I had it. Well I am not actually sure when it started. I am thinking high school, but I have been to doctors on and off with different stuff for years. Anemia, etc. THen all the sudden I got sicker. IBS, etc. Well, my husband of 8 years has been the most supportive....
  20. Nature Path makes a regular corn flake. THey are good. My favorite.
  21. I take pepto bismol and dramamine. Both help. HOpe the dramamine is gluten-free though. HMM! Seems to help me though, either way. Monica

    ARCHIVED Joints Pains, You Too?

I had bone pain in my legs and hips before going gluten free. THen it got better, but I guess lately I have been glutened several times and it has been back for two months. Very frustrating. I saw my GI and he said that when you get gluten it causes and inflammatory response, which can cause the aching. I am also seeing someone else to rule anything else...
  23. My son and I both tried McCann's. I never got nauseous with them. I did have horrible gas. Maybe the fiber though. My son liked them too, but he started having some diarhea after two weeks. WHo knows though with him. IT may have been a bug.
  24. Bridget, Definitely sounds like you may have celiac. I have the same bowel problems. Two weeks wouldn't probably clear all of it up. Sorry no one is very supportive. I feel that way too right now. My legs ache all the time right now and I am struggling with C too right now. NOt fun! Anyway, go see a GI doctor and have the celiac panel done. Try and keep...
  25. Sounds like it could be a low grade yeast infection. Or something called vulvudynia, which can be caused from allergies to some foods I think. I have an aunt with it, but not sure of the details. Try using a yeast cream all the time down there. It could be some products. Since going gluten free 9 months ago. Good luck, MOnica
