  1. Hi Libby, It might be that they add something to it, like caramel coloring or something that makes it not gluten-free. I have a gluten-free cookbook that says Lundberg brand brown rice syrup is gluten free. So I suppose it depends on the brand... God bless, Mariann
  2. Colter is right, the Twin Labs Animal Parade Cherry flavored are gluten-free, as are Twin Labs Animal Friends Multi-vitamin, Centrum Kid's (cherry, fruit punch and orange flavor), also Sesame Street Complete and Bugs Bunny Chewables are also supposed to be gluten-free. God bless, Mariann

  4. Janine, That's good news. I assume they put you some type of medication, so you should start feeling better soon. God bless, Mariann
  5. Hillary, Yes it is Kellogg's Corn Pops, but before you go throw out what is on your shelf, look at the manufacture date. They just started adding wheat to them in January, 2004, so if they were made before that date, they should be okay. Mariann
  6. Thanks Simply, In answer to your question about how the antibodies get from the intestines into the blood, have you ever heard of Leaky-gut syndrome? It is where there is damage to the intestines enough for the "bad" stuff that should be expelled with the waste leaks into the blood stream and causes a lot of health problems. This happens whenever anyone...
  7. There was a warning in a different area of the board that this list is not accurate. Face it there will never be a list that is 100% accurate, so just remember to always read EVERY label and if something makes you feel bad, cross it off the list, so you won't make the same mistake twice. God bless, Mariann
  8. Hi Gillian, How are you? I remember you from the old board, but hadn't seen you around since we switched over. Glad your back. As for being a newbie, we all were. After like 10 posts you become a member, and after like 30 posts you are an advanced member. Don't worry, you'll get out of the newbie stage pretty fast. God bless, Mariann...
  9. Yeah! He changed his mind and agreed to the testing. I had to totally convince him that Dr. fine was not some fly by night quack out to get our money, but I had all the information at my fingertips, so that was easy. He is really worried about being able to pay off our credit card. And I don't blame him. There is no overtime where he works (at least...
  10. I found out some pretty frightening information last night. It came in an e-mail about a gluten free product I had asked about. This proves that we can't always trust the labels, either. This means that if a company starts adding a gluten ingredient, they don't have to change the label until they run out of old ones! Thats scary. I wonder if that...
  11. This is very wise. The problem is that you will NEVER find a list that is 100% accurate. companies change their ingredients too often, and a lot of times incorrect information is given about the gluten-free status of a food when you call their information lines. It is always a good idea to read the ingredients on the package, every time! The lists are...
  12. You may very well be gluten intolerant, but without the intestinal damage severe enough to back up the diagnosis, they won't call it celiac disease. Your best bet would be to check out the testing at Open Original Shared Link . The tests there are senstitive enough to pick up gluten intolerance (or gluten sensitivity) in it's early stages before the...
  13. I'm crying right now. My husband won't agree to the testing. He says this whole gluten trip I'm on is costing us too much money. I just feel like he is being so insensitive. He says I was fine before I knew about gluten, so he doesn't see what my problem is. I wasn't "fine". I was in horrible pain everyday, but I had suffered for so long that I...
  14. Do you know what test this was? if it was any one of the celiac tests, that is still pretty high. She must be getting quite a bit of gluten. I don't know what to suggest to you. Are you involved with any support groups that have children her own age? Mariann
  15. Stacie, it isn't so much that I need the diagnosis from the doctors so they can treat the gluten intolerance, since that is treated at home, it is for the unexpected things that come up... Like when they get sick with an infection and need antibiotics or decongestants, I need to make sure the meds are gluten-free. Most pharmacies give you what the doctor...
  16. The Bone Marrow thing probably has to do with the fact that celiacs tend to be at higher risk of developing osteopenia/osteoporosis, due to the lack of nutrients being absorbed, so this may put them at risk from donating bone marrow, not at risk of giving the disease to someone else. But I am wondering about the blood donation. This saturday they are...
  17. Thanks Aldo for the information. Next time I'm at Whole Foods I'll check them out. I was just wondering though, why not fresh apricots? Or is it just that they are hard to find, and sometimes expensive? I certainly prefer fresh. Mariann
  18. Most doctor still believe the blood tests are accurate. There are just too many variables. First, dietary. If you are not eating a high gluten diet before the tests are taken, then they aren't very reliable. Second, human error. Either on the part of the lab tech performing the test (most labs are not very knowledgable or skilled at performing these delicate...
  19. Hi Mario, Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you just need to find (or make) your own cookies! No cheating, or you just cause damage all over again. I believe it is something like a gram(or maybe less) of gluten a day causes damage. Not to mention, that most people experience horrible pain and symptoms once being gluten-free for a while. Your...
  20. Thanks Sara, Thanks for posting the levels of calcium needed for kids. Mine are 4, 7 & 9 years old, so I figured they would all need different amounts. You saved me the trouble of looking it up. See they are still on dairy as well as gluten and drink 1-2 cups of 2% milk a day, and usually have a Yoplait yogurt also. Plus they have calcium...
  21. Open Original Shared Link this is the most comprehensive gluten free food list available right now, and since it was updated last September, it should be accurate. You may want to print it out to refer to it when you or your parents go shopping. There may be foods on the list that you thought you couldn't have anymore. Mariann
  22. Simply, This might come in handy. They have the most comprehensive list of gluten-free medications and supplements. Open Original Shared Link Mariann
  23. Hi Simply, No, not very many doctors will support the diagnosis from the Enterolab tests. I am concerned about my future health care as well, but I had no choice in the matter. I am hoping that in the future they will accept the tests. I may have to get the tests done for my children, but I am also concerned for them. I mean, how are we going to...
  24. GFdoc, Thank you for the information. Yes, I would like the recipe for hummus. If you put it in the recipes section I'll find it! That way others can benefit from it as well. Thanks again. I will be taking supplements, but I don't have a Walgreens or CVS. I ordered some from online that are guaranteed gluten free and dairy free. I will have...
  25. Steve, have you ever thought about finding a date at a Celiac Disease support group? There's got to be some single women out there looking for a great gluten intolerant guy like you. Mariann
