  1. What do you suggest for party food? I have a fair bit, but just after some more ideas.
  2. I followed a recipe on taste.com and substitued ingredients to make it gluten free and vegan. We use Orgran products, Nutellex, golden syrup as an egg replacement, Sweet Williams chocolate.
  3. My daughter has a calming, caffeine free tea before bed, I will check the brand tomorrow.
  4. Black and Gold version of cocoa pops are.
  5. We live in a hot climate. School holidays fall on our coldest times. We get a whole 2 weeks where it gets cold, if that, lol. So hot lunches are not really good here. Also her school is strictly nut free. Tough for a gluten free vegan kid, but just makes us more creative.
  6. My daughter was diagnosed at the beginning of Year 2. The art supplies are safe anyway, and kids only eat from their lunch box. They have a nut-free policy, check lunch boxes, and monitor eating times. Kids are not to share. There is a notice board at the office and tuck shop of all dietary restrictions, contact numbers, and a photo of the child. The teachers...
  7. We have Kingland soy yoghurt and Cheezly brand cheese, also use Tofutti cream cheese. Depending on recipes though, I make creamy pasta, pasta bakes, potato bakes using coconut cream. It's delicious! I make a choc cheesecake with silken tofu and Tofutti cream cheese and Sweet Williams chocolate. I buy the choc chips to melt into it, and the block to...
  8. I played it safe and went with butter icing. Selling them for $7 for a pack of 6, already sold 2 dozen, waiting on people to collect. Nobody was concerned when I said gluten free and vegan. Unfortunately I can't cook with wheat flour. The house has to remain gluten free. It's for a fundraiser but people will soon realise how delicious they are!
  9. Any tips on icing them? What type of icing would you use? I'm making small solid half eggs for the top.
  10. I keep it in Tupperware containers in the pantry, but it never lasts more than a week or 2 here anyway.
  11. I was of the understanding that it's pointless testing bubs 2 and under because it's so unreliable. My nephew is 10 months old now and since his mum went gluten free he became more settled and put on weight. She did the elimination diet and by that time my mum and daughter had been diagnosed with it so we thought it was worth a try. When he is older they...
  12. Thought it would be good to start a thread for kiddy lunch box ideas. Today my 8yo took: Carrot, celery, beans, snow peas, cucumber and avocado Home made banana bread Watermelon Apple Rice crackers with grilled eggplant to put on them Soy yoghurt That's for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
  13. When things are really tight here, I make lots of rice dishes. Spinach and pumpkin risotto is a fave here, and is just rice, water, pumpkin, ans spinach. We grow fruit and veg which keeps costs low.
  14. The only thing I can't make or buy anywhere is English muffins, oyt of what we used to eat. I really want to find some!
  15. Did you tell them you can? We just made a cake, and will ice it soon. We also have bread rolls to bake. I will be making pancakes this week for Shrove Tuesday. We also have apple turnovers, donuts, waffles, crepes, all sorts of yummy treats! Not only gluten free but also vegan
  16. I'm after a caffeine free tea for my 8yo to have. What type do you have?
  17. I live in regional north queensland so things probably take a while to get here. We are vegan, my child is coeliac so the whole house is gluten free, and I stop breathing with msg, so read every label before buying and we have no gluten-free soy sauce on the shelves, I have checked lol, I used to make sushi rolls, stir fries, fried rice, rice paper rolls...
  18. I don't know what it's called, but it has chickpeas, kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, diced zucchini, carrot, pumkin, sweet potato, cauliflower, capsicum, broccoli, spinach, onion, mushrooms and chives, and I will put it on to simmer later. We also have jelly and icecream for dessert.
  19. Wow that would be difficult. My 8yo ingested gluten over the weekend, trace amounts, and spent yesterday in bed holding her tummy screaming out in pain, so we can easily tell. You would have to be even more aware if your body doesn't tell you. I agree with regular checks. I take my dd for follow up blood tests but yeah, as you can see, I know when there is...
  20. Tonight we had mushroom and lentil soup, pumpkin and spinach risotto, then crepes with golden syrup and coconut ice cream.
  21. My 8yo was like that, but a year on a gluten-free diet has her to an average height and almost to a normal weight. You are not a bad mother, I also knew nothing about it and thought nothing of her symptoms until her paed wanted her tested. Suddenly it all made sense.
  22. No, we use Tamari. I don't know if there is any gluten-free soy sauce but I have not found any.
  23. I buy one called Easy Baker which is nice, but not sure if it's available there.
  24. My mum bought a second toaster for dd, bought a new set of cutting boards and wooden spoons, and has a frying pan just for her. She washes the gluten free things under running hot water using one of those wand or stick scrubbers where you fill it with dishwashing liquid. Nothing else is washed with this. My mum's house is almost fully gluten-free anyway apart...
  25. Mizzo, my 8 year old is physically sick with diarrhoea, gas, tummy pains and even headaches (although I think they may be from lack of sleep during these times with the sickness keeping her up rather than gluten itself) but then she remains vague and has some behavioural problems for up to a week after the physical symptoms wear off. Whether that is also...
