  1. My daughter seems to react to colour 150 so I stay away from anything that looks like it might contain it. Haven't looked at coke because I won't let her have caffeinated drinks yet at 9 so it's still a couple of years away from being explored. I don't drink it myself so have never felt the need to look more into it, but she can't have Sars. She's sensitive...
  2. It's my birthday today! But it's the 5th here, almost the end of the day too lol. About to head to the pub for their cheap drinks
  3. Cheezely is vegan cheese.http://www.veganperfection.com.au/productpage.php?id=64
  4. Yeah haha, highlight of my year so far has been seeing Black Sabbath. The siren began at the start of War Pigs, the lights were out, then suddenly the stage lights up and there he is, Ozzy Osbourne in the flesh, right there in front of us. We were in the mosh pit near the side barrier. It was an incredible moment, one that will be difficult to surpass...
  5. We're having eggplant parmigianna (like chicken but with eggplant instead) with homegrown, freshly picked carrots, zucchini and baby squash steamed, freshly picked homegrown roasted sweet potato, freshly picked homegrown spinach boiled, and potato bought from the fruit and veg shop mashed. Possibly with brussell sprouts if we have any frozen. http:/...
  6. We've definitely been making the most of the year. I wrote the car off in February during a trip to visit my cousin for her 30th lol, just because we hadn't quite lost everything yet, but that was from hitting a kangaroo, not anything truly bad. In February we went to a little town in central Queensland at the coast, in March I flew to Brisband to buy a...
  7. It was quite a shocker of a year last year, but things can only get better from here
  8. We have 3 over the next 18 months, one I know where it's held and have eaten there before ordering their gluten-free vegan dishes and they do a marvellous job. The other 2 I'm not so sure about. One is a buffet style one so I'm thinking of taking my daughter's food for her but it's not until next October so I'll wait and see. The one in october this year...
  9. Gloria Jeans and Muffin Break local to us sell gluten free goods. They are made off-site in a gluten free facility so once they sell out, that's it for the day. We don't eat that type of thing but I like to ask about it so I can post on the local facebook group.
  10. Thanks, thought I'd say a proper hello since it's been some time It's good to be back!
  11. I did not have GD, nor did my mum in any pregnancy but after my daughter being diagnosed coeliac at 7, we were all tested and she also has it but never knew it, probably because she didn't eat gluten foods often and when she did it was in the form of not very healthy food like pastries and things so she thought that's why she was sick, not the gluten. But...
  12. 2012 was not very kind to our family. To start with, a drunk driver flew through a give way sign into the side of my car. 3 months before the car was fixed. That was January, it was fixed in April which is lucky because in May my brother crashed a van into the side of a cement bridge and nearly died, was airlifted to the hospital near me meaning my mum...
  13. We dehydrate mangoes and pineapples, they are great travel snacks.
  14. Hi, we had quite a traumatic time last year but back on our feet now. At least, almost. Another 6 months and we'll be very much back to a good place within ourselves, thanks for asking
  15. No, we sell at the markets what we can't use at home, or do a big cook up and freeze individual portions for when we're going away.
  16. In Australia, oats are out, if something contains oats it is labelled as containing gluten and the Coeliac Society recognises gluten as being the protein from barley, oats, wheat and rye.
  17. As mentioned, we're vegan, so we don't have milk, eggs, honey or any meat or other animal byproducts but I do know a lot of coeliacs who also cannot tolerate dairy whether that be from lactose intolerance or a caseine sensitivity. That's a hell of a lot of coffee though so it could be over-consumption of caffeine causing issues.
  18. Coffee is gluten free. I've heard that people who react to gluten can also have problems with dairy. We are vegan so I wouldn't know, but do you think there might be a problem with milk? That much caffeine would give me tummy problems. Caffeine is a diuretic.
  19. My 10 year old has only been on a couple of sleepovers and only with close friends of ours. I send a take away container with a lid and a fork with easily reheatable food so they only have to heat it in the microwave and give it to her in that container. For breakfast, I send one of the bowls with the lids with the right amount of cereal in it, and she...
  20. These are a hit in this house. 1 regular sized sweet potato 1 400g tin of chickpeas 1/2 cup of chopped spring onion 1 tablespoon of curry paste Steam sweet potato until soft, then mash with the chickpeas. Add the curry paste and stir well. Mix in the spring onion until stirred through then bake on 190C until brownish and firm. Serve with mashed...
  21. Open Original Shared Link What's everyone's thoughts?
  22. Our public hospitals provide really well and cater to all needs. My daughter was in earlier this year and was given gluten free, vegan food that was really nice, no cross contamination risk because they have to deal with allergies and intolerances as well as preferences all the time so have to be vigilant.
  23. Still no vegan bread on the market.
  24. You get pumpkin in a can where you live? Never heard of that before! Hmm, I was expecting whole ingredients never mind.
  25. We don't have many sushi places where I live, and there's the one I mentioned that I don't really trust for many reasons, and the rest all say the vinegar is a malt vinegar, so I'm quite upset about that. We do make our own every couple of months. It's tedius and I really don't enjoy it as much because it seems to take such a long time to make and not very...
