  1. Yes, that's why I said it probably differs from one place to the next. I realise there are not many Aussies on here, but I'm not familiar with how it works in other countries. They are guaranteed gluten free and vegan, they have a reference book that tells them so we're not just relying on the word of a 15 year old. It says what's what in all their food...
  2. The only ones I'm aware of are ones we wouldn't buy anyway like the flavoured coffees, vanilla flavoured milk which contains malt from barley, beer is almost always out, except for a few brands which make gluten free beer. I saw Up n Go are in the fridge section now with the flavoured milks, these contain cereals that contain gluten.
  3. All of ours are from organic vegan places and nope, they don't contain anything gluten. Not the soaps, not the shampoos, not the sunscreens, not the cleaning products, none of it. I wonder why they would do that.
  4. I've just had a quick look at our shampoos, soaps, sunscreens, etc and none of them contain gluten. I actually don't think I've heard of any that do. We don't use make up, I have worn lipstick 3 times in my life, and had full makeup done once at 17, so make up isn't something we would keep in the house at any time. But the other products do not contain...
  5. There is nowhere within 2 hours of us that does a gluten free sushi, they all soak the rice in vinegar that is not gluten free. The one place I'm not sure of is where I walked and asked if their sushi is gluten free, they looked at me and said "We can take out the MSG?" so I thanked them for their time and left. No idea if it's gluten free or not, but how...
  6. I don't have coeliac disease or arthritis, my daughter has coeliac disease and Autism. Her father, grandfather, uncle and cousin have Autism. Her grandmother has coeliac disease, but of course is not the one who carried her. Not sure what to make of this particular piece?
  7. We are gluten-free and vegan, and there is a noodle place that is predominantly gluten free because they use rice noodles, however the ones using soy sauce are not gluten-free, and they have vegan and vegetarian options, most of what they do can be made vegan except a few that use egg noodles, and the ones that use honey soy sauce.
  8. It probably differs from one place to another, but our Maccas has a dedicated fryer for the fries, they are guaranteed gluten free and vegan, same with the hash browns. The oil is a vegan oil too.
  9. That does look great! I agree about the icing too lol, I think this year was the first year that kids were eating the cake and not just the icing, they were all 7 to 10 years of age so a little older than kids in previous years.
  10. Zucchini slice is baked in the oven.
  11. Do you get the Orgran ones there?
  12. I've never heard of that before, only the Gluten-free Casein-free diet which we now have because we're vegan and the child is coeliac so we have to be anyway.
  13. Our fruit, veg and herbs are as organic as we can get them. My yard has been chemical free for at least 8 years since we've lived here, and from the state of it when I moved in, I doubt they even so much as watered the yard. The rice we have certainly does not come from the US. I'm not concerned about our overall diet because we are so careful with everything...
  14. No, it cannot be outgrown. It does not go away. Some allergies may, asthma possibly can, but not Coeliac Disease, not diabetes either. I encounter this with my daughter's Autism too, people telling me they knew someone was "a little bit autistic" as a child who outgrew it. No, they may have learnt to manage it, but it never goes away. Some things are...
  15. What I said is correct for Australian food standards.
  16. I know it's a little way off, but we're on school holidays at the moment so a bit hard to organise anything. Lots of interest so I hope it's really good.
  17. Well we have our first date set for the 13th of October. Each of us will bring a plate of food that can be shared, I'll take fruit kebabs as well as some chocolate crackles and brownies to make sure my vegan child will have a couple of options. It's an afternoon tea, and from experience kids cannot say no to fruit kebabs where the watermelon, rockmelon...
  18. I've made dessert pizzas with mango before.
  19. PP: My daughter is allergic to tomatoes, but can have them cooked, just not fresh. Does cooking make a difference? She comes out in massive welts on her skin and her mouth blisters and it really burns to wee when she has them, but she has them cooked in pasta sauces without any dramas.
  20. I've been vegan for 30 years, my 9yo has been vegan her entire life, (I was on cow milk formula then had cow milk for the first years before my mum realised the allergy I had to it) and we are coming up to 2 years gluten free since her diagnosis. We're lucky because we have Syndian frozen foods that make it easy to have backups in the freezer, San Remo gluten...
  21. I came in here with loads of ideas, but was blown away by the mango sauce! Gee that's different lol. We normally use things like sundried tomatoes, grilled eggplant, roasted pumpkin, sweet potato and carrot, sliced mushrooms, sliced black olives, pineapple pieces, capsicum, then covered in grated Cheezley but I'm not sure what would go with mango sauce...
  22. I've put messages up on FB in groups, but I would like to get a regular group happening where we can all meet and have a gluten free picnic with others in our community who have to follow a strict gluten-free diet, but so far not much has happened. One person said she is keen, herself and her 2 kids are coeliac but they go to groups through the Coeliac Society...
  23. Even in Third World countries, it's better to breastfeed than not. Bubs get all they need from it. My daughter showed no symptoms of coeliac disease until about 7, and was breastfed until she was 3, so I'm really glad she had that to start with.
  24. I'm not familiar with the medical system over there, but here, a GP can order a test without any hassles.
  25. Organ have a pastry mix out, I have made the pastry shapes with the cookie cutters and made lentil pies then topped them with a pastry shape. For St Pat's Day, I add green food colouring (Hullaballoo I think it's called, they have vegan, gluten free colours) to the mash on the cottage pie and to the shape on the top of the pies. The other thing is to make...
