  1. I'm gluten, oat, soy, dairy, peanut, corn flour, free..and low salicylate. It makes snaking hard. I can eat some brands of potato chips, and my home made kale chips. If corn doesn't bother you, plain Fritos are safe. Nuts and seeds like pumpkin or sunflower are good snacks, but be sure to look for cc free ones. Some brands of popcorn are safe. Celery...
  2. Is it possible that you're reacting to the Xangthum gum used in making bread? Some people don't tolerate it well.
  3. If you take B vitamins on an empty stomach they can make you feel sick. Be sure to take them after eating a meal.
  4. Hmmm..could the paprika be bothering you? I think it's a nightshade? When I was first DXed I couldn't tolerate it at all, but can now.
  5. You really have been having a hard time. I've been there..and still having problems. It might be a good idea for you to try a steroid that stays in the intestine and is usually used for Crohn's? It's Entocort. I went on it and I didn't see miricles but it has allowed me to heal a bit faster. That, along with the digestive enzymes and probiotics are...
  6. As to the question about the pancreas...a hormone (CCK) is made in the duodenum and is sent to the gallbladder and pancreas telling them to squeeze bile and release digestive enzymes when you eat. If there is damage in the duodenum, which is pretty common in Celiac disease, this hormone may not be made..or the signal is not being sent. I'm currently taking...
  7. When mine was tested it was at 30% function. It bothers me, but I want to give it a chance to heal. The specialist I saw at Mayo Clinic agreed that I should keep the gallbladder. He didn't say, and I didn't think to ask, how many patients he's seen gain an improvement in function and become healthy. I wondered if bile could back up into the liver and...
  8. I'm so glad she's home. It's really scary that a Hospital can't feed someone safely! I'll bet she improves by leaps and bounds now?
  9. I reacted to numerous environmental allergens when tested...but I had zero allergies to foods. Allergy testing doesn't show Celiac. It's a different kind of response that happens.
  10. Hmm..maybe whatever the cans are lined with is causing a reaction in you?
  11. I'm wondering if salicylates might be bothering you since you got glutened recently? That's what happened to me. There were so many foods I couldn't tolerate at all when I was first DXed, but allergy testing showed they fall into the "intolerance" category rather than allergy. As I healed I was able to add some things, but salicylates can accumulate and...
  12. I got glutened about a month ago and still feeling the effects pretty hard, so this could be from the "bad" rice? Sweet potatoes have salicylates. I can't tolerate them at all when my system is upset. Could they be bothering you now? I hope this passes soon! (((hugs)))
  13. I'm so glad the new Dr. is better than the last. You would think a GI should be knowledgeable about Celiac? I'm glad you got an RX for the anxiety too. Sometimes we just need a little help along those lines. If only we could relax on demand like the health care workers seem to think is possible? I got glutened about a month ago. It knocked down...
  14. I get a tingling/pain in my right shoulderblade near the spine. It's confirmed it's from my malfunctioning gallbladder (dyskenesia). If you have damage in your duodenum it can prevent the hormone (CCK) from being made and sent to the gallbladder and pancreas. This hormone tells them to squeeze bile and digestive enzymes that you need for digestion. When...
  15. Most hospitals have patients representatives/advocates that you can lodge complaints with. See if they have that there.and contact them ASAP? Your daughter should be able to eat bananas or applesauce which are usually not opened..and therefore safe? I find it maddening that they can't safely feed your daughter!
  16. I take RX enzymes every time I eat. One with snacks..two with meals. I noticed a difference right away. Instead of my food just sitting there and making me uncomfortable, and bloating, I was able to just digest it and not give it a second thought. The enzymes help break down your food into smaller particles so your intestine can absorb the nutrients faster...
  17. I just wanted to add..20-30% of us test negative in our blood work but have Celiac disease anyway. A GI can do an endoscope to check how your stomach lining and intestines look. Biopsies can be done at that time. I tested negative but was scoped. My Celiac was found by the endoscope. It would be a good idea to take probiotics. A small intestine bacterial...
  18. It's possible that you are reacting to the salicylates in foods? They can cause some of your symptoms, like the migraines, joint pain, balance problems, insomnia, and foggy brain, although these can be caused by gluten too. Here's a link for you to consider. Open Original Shared Link With damage to the small intestine and duodenum you may not be producing...
  19. Sorry I'm so late in getting back to you... I was told to take the probiotics seperately from the digestive enzymes because the enzymes break down the protein in the probiotic. I found a site that explains it..if you scroll down a bit. Open Original Shared Link
  20. I'd say..go into the Dr.s' office with a list of your symptoms and ask for a full Celiac panel. Many Dr.'s don't even think to test for Celiac. They most often just prescribe meds that counteract symptoms.
  21. Yes..I saw Dr. Murry. I always mis-spell his name in case he does a google check of his name. I don't want my posts to show up. Makes me feel a bit freer to speak. He agreed with my feelings about having the gallbladder removed. We have them for a reason..they aren't just an accesory. They serve a function. The one thing we didn't discuss was..if...
  22. I guess we both got the same advice/treatment plan from Mayo? I still have the pain sometimes..and tingling in my shoulder blade. I guess we just have to wait? To the OP..have you had your gallbladder out? I thought I read something to that effect in another post? If you are still having symptoms you may need to take the digestive enzymes because of...
  23. Congrats! being part of the birth is so special. My sister drafted me to help her with my niece's birth. I had to hold her hair back as she barfed... Good times! LOL Be sure to report back with how it went. We want weights and lengths.
  24. I don't have to scope out where the bathrooms are wherever I go!
  25. My hubby and son are still eating gluten and most of that food is heated in the microwave. I was heating the cup of water for my instant coffee every morning in that microwave and I wasn't feeling very good, even though I was so careful. The chance for cc seemed so great that I got a second microwave of my own, just to be safe. It was on sale... ...
