I bought a box a while back, but have been to afraid of a reaction to try it. I'm super sensitive. I guess I'll let that box sit there for a while longer?

ARCHIVED Now Dairy Free As Well?
Bubba's Mom replied to lynxigirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I use So Delicious vanilla flavored cconut milk on cereal. For a butter/margarine substitute I use Earth Balance soy/dairy free blend. I use a good quality coconut oil (Nutivia) in cooking and on cooked veggies instead of butter. I love it on cooked broccoli especially. It's a super healthy fat to add to your diet. I buy it online because it's so convenient... -
ARCHIVED How To Clean Wooden Island In Kitchen?
Bubba's Mom replied to abby03's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm the only gluten-free person in my household, and the others aren't the least bit careful. I have plastic place mats that I put on my counter top to ensure a cc free work surface. They're easy to put in place and can be wiped down and stored until next use. The plastic table cloth is a good idea, but if your household is like mine, there's other things... -
ARCHIVED Bioplasma Cell Salts
Bubba's Mom replied to LeahBanicki's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We have your same weather here in Ohio. I've been sick the past week from the heat. I've never heard of Bioplasma cell salts..will look into it. They say that processed foods are very high in sodium. I'm on a whole foods diet, so getting a lot less salt. I've wondered if the lower salt intake is what is getting to me in this heat? It was 100* yesterday... -
ARCHIVED Bacterial Overgrowth - Anyone Familiar With This?
Bubba's Mom replied to Sunny1008's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was DXed with Celiac just over a year ago. When I went gluten-free I immediately felt better, but then started reacting to additional foods. I went to Mayo Clinic 3 times for additional testing. My hydrogen breath test for SIBO came back with high hydrogen and methane. I was told I most likely have a severe bacterial overgrowth. The bad bacteria feed... -
ARCHIVED What Is The Severity Of Your Reaction To Gluten?
Bubba's Mom replied to kaitlynrose's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Your immune system fights against gluten. When it has been gone from your diet, those little immune system "soldiers" get all rested. Then, when gluten enters your system those well rested "soldiers" can attack with full force. That's why your reactions are stronger now. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Done Yesterday
Bubba's Mom replied to GlutenFreeAustinite's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Duodenal scalloping is seen with severe villi damage. If you don't have it, it may mean that your damage isn't bad? It doesn't mean you don't have Celiac, or gluten intolerance. If your biopsies show no damage, that's good news! However, you could still be gluten intolerant, it just isn't causing an immune reaction. The treatment is the same...no gluten... -
I understand the frustration you are going through. Unfortunately, it's common. You've already figured out that gluten and dairy aren't good for you, so stick with it. You don't need a Dr.s approval to go gluten-free. It would be a good idea to ask for a blood panel to check your vitamin/mineral levels. I hope you can get your Dr. to cooperate? If...

ARCHIVED What Are You Growing This Year?
Bubba's Mom replied to alex11602's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My Bloodhound killed a racoon out back. It's belly was full of my Raspberries. Last night he got an Opossum. It looks like I'm dealing with more than a hungry Woodchuck? This is a little too EI-EI-O for me! -
ARCHIVED All The Symptoms But Blood Tests Negative
Bubba's Mom replied to toriabd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Push for an endoscope. I tested negative in my blood work like you, but when scoped had severe damage easily visible to the naked eye. Request several samples be taken. 20-30% of us test negative. Something is causing your symptoms. Ask for the scope to rule things out? Start taking probiotics too, if you aren't currently taking them. A bacterial overgrowth... -
ARCHIVED Gluten- Free Causing A Gluten Allergy?
Bubba's Mom replied to MichelleD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't be around gluten flours of any kind. I cleaned out an old cabinet and inhaled a miniscule amount of flour. It started a bad reaction that lasted a couple of months. If you're cooking with gluten flours it can be very dangerous to your health. It can go airborne and stay there for a couple of hours. -
Could maybe have been her gallbladder acting up? This can come on suddenly and pass suddenly. Can cause nausea and gas type pains. Just be aware of watching for reactions to greasy or fatty foods. Many Celiacs have gallbladder issues. They seem to go hand in hand? I was told I needed mine removed, but I'm hanging onto it in the hopes it will heal now...

ARCHIVED My Story
Bubba's Mom replied to ameslaw84's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello...and welcome! Your symptoms sure seem to fit? I hope testing gives you answers. I want you to be aware though, that 20-30% of us test normal in our bloodwork. So..if you are tested and get a negative for Celiac..it would be good for you to go strictly gluten-free for at least 3 months to see if you note improvement. There are many posts here about... -
ARCHIVED Best Bread Recipe
Bubba's Mom replied to DonnaMarie7's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
See if you can get King Arthur's gluten-free flour. Most grocery stores carry it and have it in the regular flour aisle. Use the directions on the box. When I made it I was surprised at how much better it was than any premade bread. -
ARCHIVED Why Do Reactions Get Stronger And Other Intolerances Pop Up?
Bubba's Mom replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The Dr. I saw at Mayo Clinic tested me for a small intestine bacterial overgrowth(SIBO) when I said I was reacting to more and more foods. He said that many of us have gut dysbiosis and the "bad" bacteria are where they shouldn't be. They feed on what we eat and emit toxins that we react to. The "bad" bacteria levels change from week to week. They are... -
ARCHIVED What Are You Growing This Year?
Bubba's Mom replied to alex11602's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Believe me, if I could shoot those suckers I would! I'm afraid one of our dogs would get in the way and I'm not a very good shot. I read that putting Double Bubble gum out will kill them. I tried it out of desperation. I found a lot of empty wrappers, but the woodchucks are fine. They're probably sitting there practicing blowing bubbles when they're... -
You may have Celiac? If there's damage to your small intestine you may have a hard time digesting lactose? The starches/grains in gluten-free foods can be difficult to digest. It's best if you stick to whole foods like fruits, veggies, meats/seafood, nuts and seeds. If you're becoming intolerant to more and more foods it could be that your intestine...

ARCHIVED Airport Security And Supplements?
Bubba's Mom replied to Ninja's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
My hubby travels for his job 5 days a week. He goes throughout the US, but also France, Mexico, Sweden, and Germany. He always carries his meds/vitamin supplements in those plastic day of the week boxes. He carries 2 because he has a lot of meds. He has never had a problem going through security with them. However, it's recommended by the airlines that you... -
ARCHIVED I Am Sick. Undiagnosed. Confused. Concerned.
Bubba's Mom replied to asickdaddy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your symptoms would sure suggest you're Celiac or at least gluten intolerant? A food log is a really good idea. Note what you eat and list any symptoms you may have. Many food sensitivities can have a delayed reaction. Having that log helps you connect the dots. Many of us find we do best omitting dairy for a while, and soy is another big irritant. ... -
ARCHIVED Another Newbie Needs Test Intepretation Help Pls!
Bubba's Mom replied to hard2handle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm a DQ2.2, like you. I test negative on Celiac blood tests, but had completely flattened villi/ulceration in the duodenum when scoped. I was DXed with Celiac because of the damage. I've had several Dr.s say DQ2.2 isn't Celiac, but it seems like they need to keep a more open mind? If all of the Dr.s are dismissing those with symptoms, but don't have DQ... -
ARCHIVED Help! Have Gi Symptoms Plus Strange Blood Results
Bubba's Mom replied to gonnabeglutenfree's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ask the Dr. to run the full Celiac panel? Tell him it's worth "ruling out"? You might test positive and you'll have your answer. If you test negative, be aware that 20-30% of us do. Your unusual blood tests seem like testing is warrented? If you're tested and get a negative result, please try going completely gluten-free for at least 3 months and see... -
ARCHIVED Hot Enough For You?
Bubba's Mom replied to Darn210's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hit 104* yesterday. Today much cooler...98*. We have a solarium (greenhouse) addition at the back of our house. I opened the door and it's like a blast furnace! Very similar to how hot a car gets inside. -

I have a long list of things I had to quit eating, but I can have Krspy Treats made with coonut oil. I like to have one every evening..my special treat. Unfortunately, I let my hubby and son try them and they like them better thn the original crispy treat recipe! I have to guard them. LOL -
ARCHIVED What Are You Growing This Year?
Bubba's Mom replied to alex11602's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
There's a mamma and 3 baby woodchucks living under my neighbor's porch. They've gotten into my little garden numerous times and destroyed the kale, broccoli, and spinach. They took a bite out of each green tomato. I have a wire fence around it and netting over the top, but they keep getting in. The kale just starts to grow back and they chew it down... -
ARCHIVED Hearing Loss - Plugged Ears
Bubba's Mom replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've had unexplained ear pressure/pain with a loss of balance. I saw an ENT and had all sorts of tests. It showed up nothing. I was told to avoid any foods I thought might be causing it. I was told it could be a reaction to a food or it could be a "silent migraine" triggered by a food or something in my environment. Not very helpful. Mine seems to...
