ARCHIVED Another Does This Look Like Dh Post
Bubba's Mom replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Your rash looks just like what I had. Mine came after the severe digestive symptoms. I didn't have it biopsied. Right after getting some blood work done post endoscope, I removed the tape they had put on my inner elbow. My dog licked it. He had just eaten a dog biscuit. It made the skin in that area, the exact shape of the tape raise up with a blistered... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Either Of These 2 Symptoms
Bubba's Mom replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you tried digestive enzymes? Carbs can be hard to digest if your system isn't operating 100% normal. Fats can be a problem too. Gas is created from the foods fermenting in your gut. The gluten from the cookies you've been eating might have been enough to knock down the CCK production in your gut. CCK is produced in the small intestine and is what... -
ARCHIVED Finally Feeling Like A Break Thru...
Bubba's Mom replied to Llamamama's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Congratulations on getting it all worked out! Many of us find that we need more than just gluten-free. Most Dr.s don't see it that way, and are useless in finding/treating the imbalance in gut flora. Working out what you need is difficult and takes time, trial, and experimentation. It's not a fast process. I've gotten the Celiac DX, but going gluten... -
ARCHIVED Probiotics An Effective Solution For Celiac Disease
Bubba's Mom replied to kenlove's topic in Publications & Publicity
Thanks so much for your input! I had stopped taking the probiotics, but will start them back up. I hope I haven't caused too much damage by going off them? I've been on antibiotics for 3 weeks now. I kept taking the coconut oil, so hopefully the yeast isn't gaining a foothold? -
ARCHIVED Is It Really Celiac?
Bubba's Mom replied to Ladyrhedd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The blood tests have a 20-30% false negative rate. If you have damage to your small intestine, you must go completely gluten-free and allow yourself time to heal. You may have symptoms resolve that you didn't know were symptoms! Read around the forum and ask any questions that you may have. -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder Issues?
Bubba's Mom replied to mommyof4's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My pain is/was mostly the right side, but sometimes it would refer to the center or left. I also got tingling in my right shoulder blade, which has stopped. An ultrasound will show if you have any stones or blockage in the bile ducts, as well as anything in the GB. I'm glad that Dr. Murry is conservative about removing GBs. They're there to help... -
I'd say I'm very sensitive. I've had reactions to lunchmeat sliced on a machine that looked clean, and from fruit cut up on an all purpose cutting board. I don't eat any gluten-free replacement type foods, like bread. I stick to a mostly whole foods diet. I don't eat anything that says it's made on shared equipment.

ARCHIVED Liver Enzymes Have Gone Back Down In 3 Months!
Bubba's Mom replied to GladGirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Congrats...what wonderful news! Looks like you're doing it right? -
Hello Nick..welcome! Sorry to hear about the break-up. We're here for any support we can give. I started to hyperventilate when you said how long ago you were Dxed, and gluten-free for 2 years. I hope things are on track now?

ARCHIVED Probiotics An Effective Solution For Celiac Disease
Bubba's Mom replied to kenlove's topic in Publications & Publicity
I've known that probiotics are very good for us for quite a while. One thing I'm confused about is..if a person is taking anti-biotics, should they also take probiotics at the same time..or does it do no good? I'd hate to give my system the added stress of a bacterial die-off. Anybody know if we should wait until after a course of antibiotics to take... -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder Issues?
Bubba's Mom replied to mommyof4's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had gallbladder symptoms for a couple of years before my Celiac DX. An ultrasound showed no stones, a bit of sludge. After that my complaints of GB symptoms to my PCP fell on deaf ears. Once my Celiac symptoms increased and I was DXed,and gluten-free, the GB symptoms continued. A HIDA scan done 6months gluten-free showed I had 30% function. I was... -
I had skin cancer surgery in Nov. The numbing injections, stitches, and pain meds were all gluten-free. Nothing to worry about there. Good luck with your surgery. A bag of frozen peas works very well as an ice pack to help aleviate any pain you'll have.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Still Feeling Horrible
Bubba's Mom replied to gf-calgarian's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had the initial clearing of some symptoms, followed by what seemed like reactions to other things. With my food log I found I was very intolerant of soy, then dairy. Those 2 are common, so be aware of them. Many Celiacs have to remove those 2, but can add them back once healed. If you had severe damage it will take time to heal. I started out with severe... -

ARCHIVED Transglutaminase / Meat Glue
Bubba's Mom replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Gah! The thought of those brown and serve sausages(my hubby loves those) came to mind..hamberger patties..chicken patties. I didn't know this product existed. -
ARCHIVED Honestly, I'm Stunned!
Bubba's Mom replied to MitziG's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I got to the point where I was getting bad reactions to more and more foods. I got a hydrogen breath test to see if I had small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). It's very common in Celiacs. I tested positive, and was told mine is severe. I was told that we react to more and more foods because the bacteria emit toxins into our blood stream/brain as... -
I understand your hurt feelings, but he probably didn't think anything of ordering the pizza? It's something he can't eat at home, so why not get it when he's out? My hubby doesn't think about that type of thing either. It just isn't on their "radar". I carry damp paper towels in zip lock baggies for him to wipe his face and hands on once he's eaten "poison...

ARCHIVED Reactions To Gluten
Bubba's Mom replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It may be time for a family meeting? Being exposed to flour, which can be inhaled, or on your hands which rub an eye, nose, or touch your mouth can be very dangerous to you. It can be enough to start the immune response cascade. Family members need to know how dangerous gluten is to you, and be very careful to keep it cleaned up and away from any of your... -
ARCHIVED Such Thing As To Many Vitamins?
Bubba's Mom replied to Silencio's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really depends on what your levels were before starting supplements. If you had blood tests, you should be able to get a copy of the results? If they're just recommending you take supplements for the vitamins/minerals that most Celiacs are low in, I'd say 5000 might be a bit high? The high doses are for people with very low levels, and who are not absorbing... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
Bubba's Mom replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You have me wanting to look into choline now. The pancreatic enzymes I'm taking now are RX Zenpep(pancrelipase, delayed release capsules. They have Lipase 10,000 units, Amylase 55,000 units, Protease 34,000 units. I was told to take 2 capsules with a meal, and one with a snack. The over the counter ones I was taking seemed better, because they... -
ARCHIVED Cross Contamination ?
Bubba's Mom replied to 49erlady's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Since the parts that touch food can be cleaned well, I think I'd put on some rubber gloves and use pipe cleaners or something to try to clean those hard to get at areas? There shouldn't be much there..if any? -

ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
Bubba's Mom replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks so much for posting this article! It makes me feel like I'm on the right track? I continued to lose weight and feel terrible even though I knew I was completey gluten-free. I went to a different GI from the one that DXed me and asked about checking for SIBO. He laughed at me and said "Did Dr. Google tell you to ask about that"? He's the one that... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
Bubba's Mom replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm nursing along a poorly functioning gallbladder right now. After my HIDA scan I was told to consult a surgeon, but my function is 30%..I'm hoping it will improve now that I'm gluten-free, and off my PPI med. The CCK is made in the duodenum, then sent to the gallbladder. It tells the GB to squeeze. If there's damage in the duodenum CCK may not be... -
ARCHIVED Should I Mention Celiac To My Doctor?
Bubba's Mom replied to MrsMcC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ask your Dr. for the full Celiac panel. Your symptoms fit. They also fit with pancreatic insufficiency, where you don't make enough enzymes to break down your food properly. Digestive enzymes taken with meals or heavy snacks help a lot (can be caused by gluten intolerance). You might also ask for a hydrogen breath test that tells if there's a bacterial...
