  1. Dr. Murray seemed to think that blood pressure meds are the most likely to cause enteropathy? When I was on Lisinopril it made me cough..a lot. I was on Hydrochlorthiazide along with the Lisinopril. When I complained about the cough I was told to stop the lisinopril, but keep taking the Hydro. My blood pressure wasn't good on just the water pill so I was...
  2. I was DXed with Celiac in June 2011, and went strictly gluten-free with a whole foods diet. Since then I've reacted to additional foods including soy, dairy, peanuts, tomatoes, MSG, yeast, sunflower seeds, and have ongoing symptoms. A second scope 6 months gluten-free showed no healing. I was referred to Mayo Clinic in FL. They did a few tests and had more...
  3. It's pretty common for environmental allergies to settle down gluten-free. A wonderful side effect of gluten-free! Last year the pollen wasn't as bad here and I had to use my inhaler several times.(I hadn't been DXed yet) This year..a banner year for high pollen..and I'm doing fine. I've been getting allergy shots for 3 years. I wonder if I may be able...
  4. I'm so glad you've gotten some resolution. At the first of the year we changed insurance and they make us get our RXs through their mail order business. We had to get new RXs written rather than transfer the ones we had in place, so I had to scramble to get those and get the meds in hand for my hubby who travels for his job. One of them didn't come...
  5. Absolutly shocking! I'd demand to get the medical records. If doc 1 doesn't turn them over..report him. I'd also be looking to turn CVS in for not allowing an RX to be transferred. They might not want to fill it..but surely they can't refuse to transfer to another pharmacy? One more reason to get copies of all medical tests, etc.
  6. I've found that dairy and the gums used in dental impression goo give me extreme irribilty. I think hormones can enter into it too?
  7. I got this book from the library. Very interesting..especially when he said that wheat raises your blood sugar faster than eating a spoonful of sugar! The genetic modification they've done to wheat makes it such a non-healthy food I wonder why all of the nutritionists and Dr.s think it should be such a big part of a healthy diet? A very interesting...
  8. I'm happy for you that you got your official DX so there's no question in the future. I wonder if the Dr. reassessed his DX after you asked for the biopsy report? Print off that email and add it to your file, along with your biopsy report.
  9. I had a bad reaction to cookies made with a flour blend that contained sorghum. I thought maybe the sorghum had cc? The other flours in the blend were ones I had eaten without a problem many times. I still wonder if I can't tolerate sorghum..or if it was cc?
  10. I'm so sorry for your loss. The loss of a parent is such a stressful thing to go through. It's so easy to slip up when your thoughts aren't focused 100% on what you're eating. Your side effects may be from dairy rather than gluten? The slaw dressing and chocolate may be what got you? The effects usually wear off faster than gluten. Find something that...
  11. Why are you adding sea salt to your water? Your body needs plain water. Salt water will make you more dehydrated. When you have an IV they add salt because it's a constant drip and they don't want your electrolites to flush out, but I've never heard of adding salt to drinking water? When someone is stranded in the ocean after a boating accident, or whatever...
  12. Oh man! You can't catch a break I swear? If you have a problem with dairy it will affect your moods. No wonder you're feeling so down! Have you had your gallbladder function tested with a HIDA scan? Your history of PPI use along with gluten intolerance would make you more likely to have GB dyskinesia. It might explain the pain you're felling? If...
  13. I hadn't thought of gums..but that makes sense. My reaction seems to be much less today. My mood/balance has improved a lot. I was so crabby last night...I couldn't stand myself! LOL I'm SO glad the reaction doesn't last real long! I'm pretty sure my dental issues are here to stay, so it will always be an issue?
  14. Ingredients in Fritos..Whole corn, corn oil, and salt. No preservatives. Makes me wonder about the drying process?
  15. Have you had your iron levels tested? My anxiety was through the roof when my iron level was low. I think I'll always have "some" anxiety about getting glutened, but the overwhelming kind went away once I got my iron level up a bit.
  16. Some recipes just need to be tested a bit? Do you keep notes about the results? I found it best to do that so I could tweek the recipe a bit as needed the next time I try it. I'm happy to see you're baking. Are you feeling better? Your zucchini muffins sound yummy! I'll bet your cookies were good too, just a bit different than Toll house? If you family...
  17. " Common in Celiac patients. Edema is characterized by excess extracellular fluid volume. Reduction in plasma proteins and malnutrition in celiac disease cause edema by failing to provide colloid osmotic pressure sufficient to prevent loss of plasma from capilaries into tissues. Results from low plasma proteins, multiple micronutrient deficiencies, and...
  18. You could try crockpot cooking? Load it up and let it cook while you're away. Also, hard boiled eggs are good to keep on hand. They're a very fast source of good protein when you have no energy to cook. They travel pretty well too, as a take along food.
  19. I guess I spoke too soon? I got a bit of a reaction to something? I got chest pains during the night and was a bit more off balance than usual yesterday. Mood swings too..just crabby in general. Not quite as bad as a glutening though? I'm wondering if it was the impression goo? She did 3 impressions, whereas the time before she only made one, and I had no...
  20. Maybe the acid helps digest the food? Curious isn't it? I have the Bragg's brand here (with the mother). I'll have to remember to use it more often when I have a bit of trouble digesting. I hope I never have to find out if it works for a glutening!
  21. I guess I'm what's called a super sensitive? I can't eat anything from a shared line. In fact, I try to get things from a dedicated gluten-free facility. Of the things you've listed, what is the source of the vtamin D in the orange juice? Could it be soy?(ergocalciferol) zinc lozenge..soy oil used in the molds they're formed in? I had to give...
  22. It looks like you're one of us that gets the neurological symptoms from gluten? Be very mindful of trace amounts. They seem to bother us a bit more than those with just digestive issues..IMO? It takes time for the neuro issues to heal, so don't get discouraged!
  23. I can relate! I have trouble even reading the magazines I have subscriptions to. They're filled with recipes I can't eat, and photos of the most yummy looking foods! Even watching tv in the evening, with all of the food commercials gets to me sometimes. I can just imagine how hard it would be to have the offending item right there, where you can smell...
  24. What a relief to not have to worry about your food! Sounds like a wonderful place to visit?
