  1. Thanks..I knew you weren't saying I should take the higher dose of D, but added that as info for anyone reading in on this. The blood tests are very confusing to me, but at least I know to ask for them now!
  2. Thanks so much for the info. The Dr. didn't tell me to stop the B or D, in fact said I should take a calcium supplement with D. I asked her if that would be in addition to the D3 I was already taking and she said yes. I stopped taking the B complex 2 days ago. I was burping up after taking it. I wonder if the CEA was ordered because I had a CT scan...
  3. It says C-Peptide,S. I asked the GI about it because it was bolded print on the report and said high. She said she didn't order that test, but there it is. She also ordered CEA, which was .61 (o-3.0)I don't know if that's what you meant? I wonder if she made a mistake when marking what tests to run?
  4. Thanks so uch! TTNO..it looks like I was posting my numbers as you were typing your reply? I'm not taking any iron supplement, since the Dr said all of my blood work was fine. I've been taking a D3 suppliment and B complex for a while. I was told I have ostopenia after getting a scan. I was told to take calcium with D, so recently started that.
  5. feritin level is 50.16 (11-415) iron 59 (37-170) TIBC 355 (250-450) I'm a non-smoker and don't live with smokers and am never around it. I do have asthma though, and allergy to dogs. My son recently moved back home with his 2 dogs..we already had one. I'm getting shots for my allergies.
  6. While going through my recent bloodwork report I found a few things that are questionable. The Dr. said everything was fine. If you know what any of these are/mean please tell me? MCV 81.2 referance range(81.0-99.0)mine looks near low MCH 26.7 (27.0-33.0)mine is low Hemoglobin 12.5 (12.0-16.0) Mine looks near low carbon dioxide 30 (22-30) mine looks...
  7. One of my worst symptoms was acid reflux! It's settled down some since going gluten-free, but not gone completely. I've been on RX meds for it for about 10 years.
  8. Soy and MSG give me neuro symptoms. Restaurants love to use soy oil and MSG. Pre-DX I found I got ill after eating a meal out, when MSG was used in the meal(especially in meat seasonings). Chefs love the stuff because it causes a chemical reaction in the brain that makes you think anything you eat with it tastes delicious. So...you could have more than just...
  9. If you had the ELISA food intollerance tests done with blood and tested against samples of various things, there is some question about the accuracy of them. The sample foods tested could have contaminents, and give false readings. Also, an intollerance is different from an immune reaction to a food, like Celiac. With intollerances a slip here or there...
  10. There's the possibility of shampoos and soaps (albeit very tiny amounts) getting onto your lips or in your mouth in the shower. Lip balm can get you too..but remember your skin is porous. If you use lotions or cleansers with gluten it can be absorbed, or you could have it on your hand and rub your eye, nose , or lips, which are all entry points to your body...
  11. I would say with your vitamin/mineral levels low that you might have Celiac? If you want to be tested you'll need the full Celiac panel. Be aware that about 20-30% of us test negative in our blood work, but in fact do have Celiac. If you are still eating gluten ask for an endoscope with at least 8 samples for biopsy. It is the gold standard for DX. You...
  12. I'M SO sorry to hear about your DX. I can't for the life of me understand why Dr.s don't take us seriously when we tell them something's wrong! We know our bodies better than anyone. I had colo-rectal cancer at the age of 46, stage 1. I knew something was wrong, even though they say most people have no idea they have it. It took me going to two different...
  13. If you have villi damage it's very likely that you have leaky gut. The cells that line the intestine and keep things where they belong are broken down...and things leak out into your bloodstream and cause problems in other parts of your body. It's one of the reasons some of us get dizzy or brain fog, or migraines, or joint/muscle pain. A suppliment of...
  14. IrishHeart...you give me hope. I know it took years to get my DX and I had very obvious severe villi flattening, along with ulceration. It will take time to repair all of that. I have to keep reminding myself of that. There's one plus so far...I went off my blood pressure med. I kept getting so totally wiped out a short while after taking it so I started...
  15. If this suppliment actually blocked gluten from entering your system it would be huge news! They'd be charging hundreds of dollars for it and we'd all have an RX for it. It would be the treatment most prescribed by Dr.s because they love to write RXs. Unfortunately, it won't work. The product is basically just digestive enzymes. It helps you digest things...
  16. Ok..thanks! When I saw the Dr. on Nov 4 she put me on the second antidepressant..and said I could double the Melatonin. She also said I could take the antidepressant I've been on for years, 3 times a day instead of 2. That just seemed like way too much medicine! I didn't increase the Melatonin or the first antidepressant. I'm supposed to report back in...
  17. Thanks! I'll have to try that pizza mix. I used the KA gluten free flour recipe and it was like biscuit dough. None of us liked it. If you bake your cast iron on the high temp..be aware that it can make your kitchen/house smell awful. It's best to do it when you aren't expecting company and your family isn't around. After I use my cast iron I wash...
  18. It's possible you have some other issue going on, but as an answer to your question about the amount of gluten you were ingesting and it causing symptoms..yes. That amount can cause your symptoms, and they can last for days. I ate a sample of cheese from the grocery store on Saturday. They wre serving it with crackers. My hubby tried the sample and raved...
  19. I find I have to make lists..things that need to be done, errands (including names of the stores and what to get there), foods I have on hand and meal plans, etc. I can't seem to rely on my brain to remember anything. I tend to sort out what to do by what is the most urgent or important on my list that day.
  20. There's an article here that lists other reasons for flattened villi. https://www.celiac.com/articles/50/1/Main-Causes-of-Flattened-Villi/Page1.html It makes all of this more confusing!
  21. It's wonderful that they're developing better tests. Still, in most cases the Dr.s don't seem to catch up with the current tests/treatments? Most will just order the standard old blood tests. They need some Pharmacutical company to have their hand in this test in some way. They'll get out there and promote it!
  22. Thanks. When I looked up my numbers they fall in the normal range.. albeit maybe on the more hyper side of normal? My numbers have been up and down too, and I didn't know if that was common/normal. According to my numbers alone, I'm more hyper than I was several months ago. I feel hyper. I don't sleep much..even with taking Melatonin, an antidepressant...
  23. Thanks so much! It's so good to know others have gone through this and are on the other side..the healthy non worrying side. If it's normal to have TSH flucuate and Celiac can cause thyroid type symptoms I'll give it a bit more time. I've gone SO long without getting a DX. I even had stage 1 colon cancer in 2003. After that surgery I went back...
  24. You poor baby! Having nausea and being around so much food is miserable. The fact that some of it has gluten makes it even worse. Ask your Dr. if there's anything you can take? Tums shouldn't hurt the baby..or ginger? I didn't have nausea with either of my pregnancies, so I'm not a lot of help there. Most people seem to get past it after the first...
  25. I've tried various pasta replacements. Hands down, for me and my family Tinkyada is the best. I haven't found a bread I like yet, other than Udi's raisin bread. Really, the less processed gluten-free foods you eat the better you'll feel. Some items labeled as gluten-free can still have *some gluten*, albeit low doses. A whole foods diet of fruit, veggies...
