  1. If you're going..I'm going too Sylvia! I'll help you shovel.
  2. My goal is pretty simple. I'd like to get a quilt basted and into the quilt frame..and hand quilted by April. I used to put quilts in shows, but since getting so sick my quilting has fallen by the wayside. I have 2 appliqued quilt tops that need their intricate borders done too. I used to do some quilting every day..it was like meditation to me. Luvs...
  3. Great news! Waiting for the results of a biopsy is nerve wracking. Good news that you can stop taking the med, but it's a shame it causes so much trouble as it leaves your system. Wishing you a speedy rebound!
  4. It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what doesn't agree with your daughter and yourself? If foods make her ill, don't give her those foods. Your family shouldn't question it, and shouldn't make her try things if you feel she may not tollerate them. You're the Mom..the one in charge. Testing for allergies via skin prick or blood draw will...
  5. The probiotics are to populate your intestines with *good* bacteria..the kind that helps digestion. You can take it any time during the day..with or without food. It's important for the good bacteria to repopulate the area when the yeast is dying off, rather than have *bad* bacteria take over the turf. I think that most multi-vitamins should be taken...
  6. I thought I'd add..since you have been eating gluten you should call your Dr. ASAP and ask for a full Celiac blood panel to be drawn. A colonoscopy won't show Celiac disase. It does it's damage in the small intestine. Most Dr.s don't think to check for it. It sure sounds like gluten might be your problem?
  7. If you realize that gluten is causing you problems, I don't think I'd keep eating it? The amount of damage that could be caused in a year's time wouldn't be worth it to me!
  8. That was very insensitive and self centered of him. We're already battling limitations which is hard at holiday time especially. I found Pacific brand organic cream of chicken or cream of mushroom at my local grocery store in the "health food" section. It's gluten and soy free. It costs a bit more than Campbell's..but it gives us back some of the dishes...
  9. Yep..vitamin E, also called topherol got me too! It took a while to figure out. I get violently ill from soy oil..and lethicin too. I've read that a lot of people don't react to the oil or lethicin..but I guess we are ones who do? I'm SO glad you figured this out. I know you've been wracking your brain trying to get to the bottom of what was getting...
  10. I was just reading an article about getting better sleep and it said sleeping on your left side was better for your digestive system. They didn't go into the reason behind it..but it seems to be the case? I hadn't heard of the mastic gum before, so thanks for sharing info on that. I hope you get relief soon!
  11. Oh sweetie...I feel so bad for you! I'm still having trouble too, and trying to sort it all out. If they are suspecting a yeast overgrowth any grains, starchy foods, or sugars would feed it, so should be avoided. Your oatmeal may have CC and the Rice Chex have soy I think? I had to quit eating them. If you were reacting badly to soy..eating anything with...
  12. Merry Christmas to all of my new gluten-free friends! This is my first Christmas since DX. Thank you so much for answering the questions I've asked, even though you've seen those same qustions so many times before, and thank you for helping me figure out how to live the gluten-free lifestyle correctly. Thanks also for helping me decipher tests and helping...
  13. I get this occasionally too, and thought it might be caused by blood glucose level?
  14. It's possible to have Celiac and have a negative blood test. When your scope and biopsies were done if they didn't take several samples the DX could have been missed. It's also possible that you were sensitive to gluten, but hadn't yet developed Celiac disease at the time of testing? If you've been eating gluten, now is the time to have another blood...
  15. I stole Taco Bell's idea for seasoning roast beef on a corn tortilla. Add finely chopped sweet onion and a squeeze of lime. McCormick makes taco seanoning mix that is gluten free.(read the label. They make one with cheese that HAS gluten) You can cut up your beef and use the seasoning as directed on the package. Yummy made with left over turkey or chicken...
  16. Thanks for sharing those tips! In the past when I was using gluten noodles occasionally I'd tear a noodle or two and have to piece them back together. I can't imagine having to do all of them! I guess one of the things that had me thinking I'd have to pre-boil is the fact that the noodles get bigger as they cook? I usually put a bit of sauce in the bottom...
  17. My PCP doesn't believe the DX I got because I had negative blood work. I also have been having ongoing nausea, insomnia, and weight loss. When I asked her to run a blood panel to see if I was low on some vitamin or mineral she asked if I take a multi-vitamin and I said yes. She told me that I couldn't be lacking anything then and refused the test. She treats...
  18. I'm so sorry for your loss Marilyn. It's heart breaking to lose such a dear friend.
  19. Wow! What a difference. I'd say the new Vet sounds like a keeper for sure.
  20. The cinnemon I have here must be older? It doesn't list any ingredients. It's from Aldi. I guess we can't let our gaurd down..ever? Good thing you caught it!
  21. I had negative blood tests, but positive endoscope. I wasn't given the gene test. I just went to a new GI because my health hasn't been improving. He ordered the gene test. He told me it can tell if I DON'T have Celiac..but can't definitely say I do. I'm wondering if he is one who thinks you MUST have DQ2 or DQ8? I've read that there are other genes that...
  22. It's very possible for you to have Celiac or a gluten sensitivity, but have a negative blood test. Go gluten free(completely) ..and add in probiotics. The antibiotics may have killed off all bacteria in your system, including the good ones needed for digestion? It's also possible that you've gotten SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)? It would...
  23. I've always had a bit of social anxiety. Since being DXed I'm more anxious around food..especially when those around me are eating gluten. More recently it got much worse. In my case a blood panel showed that I was anemic, which can cause anxiety, and a bit low on Magnesium, which is the "calming mineral". Your anxiety can be from gluten withdrawl, holiday...
  24. wE adopted a Blood Hound pup that horrible skin allergy/issues. He had the worst case of dermadex mange the Humane Society ever saw. He was still getting treatment when we got him. In a very short time we noticed the mange was gone, but ear infections and skin issues remained. We put him on an allergy diet. He did better. Fast forward to this past summer...
  25. I was getting reactions from Sensodine Pronamel. I really needed it because of enamal loss, but have switched to Crest regular. Wanted to mention too, be sure you have a new toothbrush. A lot of people don't think about it, but your old one has to be contaminated?
