  1. Are you thinking of Koloa Rum? It's made from sugar cane from the island of Kauai. It is amazing, I bought some when I was on my honeymoon their last july. I need to find out if they sell in on the mainland or if I have to get it shipped. Or is there a sugar cane vodka I don't know about? The website is here Open Original Shared Link
  2. Did you mention an extreme allergy to wheat, or just say no croutons? Because those really are two different things and are treated differently in kitchens. And if something comes out wrong, just send it back. Accidents do happen, and they happen more with the team service approach of many resturants. Since your server may not be the one delievering your...
  3. Young children do alot of things that are disgusting because they don't know better. My family does not let the animals drink from the toilet. We actually have to keep the door shut tight to keep them out. But, sometimes they find a way it, usually when we have had guests or if the door didn't get shut all the way. Plus, dogs in general are attracted to poo...
  4. I have never seen a copay from an insurance company costing more than 100$ for a PCP visit. In fact most are much less, mine are 15$. Unless you don't have health insurance which is another problem all together. And she never said that money was an issue preventing her from seeing a dr. Second, if your husband is controlling all of the finances soo tightly...
  5. That tatic is DISGUSTING, and will probably backfire. And can by very dangerous to try if you have animals in the house and or small children. All of the 3 dogs I have had and two out of three cats drank/played in the toilet water. Leaving poop in it could make them very very sick. And I for one get very annoyed and upset when people forget to flush the toilet...
  6. Have you looked into bare minerals? I know that their foundation is gluten-free. It's what I use and I love it. The lip gloss looks safe, but I might have missed an ingredient. They list the ingredients on their website, at the bottom of the item page if you want to take a look. You can find the make up in stores and online. Getting color matched in the store...
  7. I'm really tired right now after working as a waitress for 6 hours tonight, so forgive me if these points have been made. 1. If you have food allergies TELL YOUR SEVER all of your allergies every time. Severs don't know what you don't tell them. If you had told your server about the wheat allergy and it still came with the flatbread it's her fault. If...
  8. I'm sorry, something sounds really fishy about this situation, like the daughter isn't being truthful. Like, why the girl couldn't change the time of the counceling appt to a time that didn't conflict with her test. Or why she couldn't and DIDN'T talk to her teacher and make other arrangements for her test. Like taking the test at a different time. I was...
  9. It would qualify if her celiac combined with her IBD was causing her to miss multiple days of school. If she was spending more time in the bathroom than class. If she has to go home early often because she is too sick to be in class. Those things take away from her ability to learn in a normal classroom setting. There is a whole category of special education...
  10. A universal bathroom pass and preferential seating(close to the door) are actually two seperate issues. A universal bathroom pass means that the student has the ability to leave to use the bathroom at their discretion and does not need to ask the teacher first. This does not automatically come with the preferential seating close to the door. Preferential...
  11. Thanks you. I miss the ease of pie making with the premade pillsbury pie crust.
  12. Why can't you use the typical electric ones? I have a cuisinart one that is amazing. I got it brand new and have only used gluten-free bisquick in it.

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Connecticut

Honestly, in CT the Children's Medical Center is probably the best place to go. Everyone that I know who has been there for any major problem has been very very pleased with the dr's and the facility. While a completely different condition, my cousin has legg-perthes(a form of osteonecrosis only found in children) and saw specialists there including his major...
  14. Actually it's very hard to justify creating special gluten-free lines for somethings. It costs the company much more money to produce a product that in a completely gluten-free than it does to produce a product that is gluten-free but is made in the same factory/same lines as products containing gluten. In order to produce their gluten-free food in a different...
  15. You will probably never get to choose the brands of gluten-free food that the school cafeteria provides. As long as they do provide a gluten free meal they are doing enough for ADA. They do not need to serve the best brands available, just a gluten free brand. Honestly they probably don't have the budget to be buying your kid udis and bell and evans chicken...
  16. I definitely know how that feels. I was labeled med-resistant after only a year because I went through all of the major meds. I also have a strange tolerance of medications. I either tolerate them too well and need huge amounts or I can't tolerate it at all.

ARCHIVED Saw My New Pcp Today..

Dr's are limited on what tests that they can run until they have run other tests first. Is it possible that your insurance won't cover the hashimoto's test until your thyroid levels actually are off? Many times insurance companies won't cover expensive diagnostic tests until the earlier tests have shown there is a problem. I ask this because according to...
  18. I think that there is a need for a testing standard because than it can be enforced and universally applied to products. And if there is a standard you can still make the decision to not eat/buy a product. Just like it is now only it would be safer for a majority of people. If the super sensitive population want's their needs to be met than they need to sign...
  19. Have you tried newer psych meds ? Saphris, Seroquel, Abilify etc. Does the brand name Depakote have the lactose in it? It might be worth switching to brand name if it doesn't have the lactose
  20. Last night I tried to make an apple pie using the gluten free pantry pie crust. It didn't come out too well, what I made looks like a pie and kinda tastes like a pie but was really dry with a funny texture/aftertaste. I was kinda disappointed. Does anyone know of either a better mix or have a good recipe?
  21. Can you four create a schedule of who cleans the kitchen on what day? Or do it by the week? Yes, this means that you would need to be part of the rotation however, you can wear gloves to clean. Do not try to create a cleaning schedule that does not include you because you do use the kitchen too so you need to be just as accountable as you want them to be...
  22. I probably will because I have pretty bad asthma and once I get sick I end up sick for a very long time and eventually end up with bronchitis or pnemonia, plus my grandfather is currently going through chemo and I don't want to chance getting him sick.
  23. Make sure that you order off of the gluten-free menu and request ALL of the substitutions needed to make your meal gluten free in addition to telling your server that your meal needs to be gluten-free. The things that are omitted completely from the gluten-free menu are not gluten-free and cannot be made gluten-free. For example the seasoned rice that is...
  24. If you don't want to buy what they have to offer you could just make a donation to the organization. I did band in High school and we had a compeitition we travelled to every year. It was 600$ to go and included all meals, the competition, the bus, hotel, and a few extras like theme park admission. We had several fundraisers every year, the money you raised...
  25. How is her cafeteria set up? Is it all you can eat buffet style? Food stations? Or is it more of a set meal? Depending on how the food is presented it might just take time and some thinking/planning on her part. my suggestions to your daughter are 1. Do not go the the cafeteria during main meal time, go a little early or a little late. During main...
