  1. My dd had the test from YORK done last summer and they we're still shipping to England. They used a collection tube that seemed to hold a larger amount. I had it done this fall and they test collection kit changed. The pads you had to fill up seemed like they took less blood. Anyway, may dd reacted to an astronomical amount of foods. I thought it would be...
  2. Cheri A, That is our most favorite pizza crust to. I like it bacause I can make it with rice milk and it doesn't can several other my dd's other allergies such as egg. She also allergic to garlic, so some times I just put basil or oregano. I've also had pretty good results using the dough to make breadsticks with as well. YUM!
  3. My dd is allergic to soy and her symptoms are similiar to injesting gluten. Such as stomache, skin rash & a feeling of not feeling good.
  4. Becky6, My dd is dairy/casein free as well. I've been making cream of mushroom soup from scratch using Vance's DariFree. I made a big batch last time and froze it in individual containers. Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you would like the recipe. I also used the base for clam chowder for my dh.
  5. I voted for Celiac C's but my dh liked Blue Lagoon!
  6. The last cruise I took was on Costa and we visited these ports of call. In addition Costa owns a private beach on Catalina Island so we were there a few hours before going to the Dominican Republic. Casa De Campo is found more and more on cruise itineraries these days. We had a really nice time . btw..any month in 2008 would be good for us!
  7. I hope you have a wonderful time. We went to Ciboney in Ocho Rios. I would love to go back in a few years....gotta save up!! I've cruised Norwegian, Royal Carib. & Costa but I wasn't gluten-free. My parents frequent Holland America and they love it. I have heard good things about Celebrity as well. I'm really getting excited....already!
  8. Rusla, Where in Jamacia are you going? I traveled there a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time!!
  9. Wow, this sounds like so much fun!! I've taken several cruises in the past but haven't travled much since I was diagnosed. I really miss traveling....... I would LOVE to go!!!
  10. This is a great idea. When I made the Blondies they we're VERY oily. Thanks, I think I'll give the brownies a try!
  11. We're no soy, almond or dairy. My dd became allergic to these and she has adjusted with substitutions well. I rotate between Vance's, rice milk and coconut milk depending on what I'm fixing. I've also noticed that I can sometimes substitute water, like in pancakes. The coconut milk is wondering for making creamy smoothies. I have also done great cream sauces...
  12. I've gotten the Let's Do Organic Gummi Bears, Classic. They're gluten-free, vegan, dairy free etc. They're also free of artifical colors and flavors. For some reason I can't pull up the full nutrition list but the basic information is found here. Open Original Shared Link My dd has taken the Lil' Critters and loves them as well. I do have to say that...
  13. I've also used the waffle mix but I didn't get the results I wanted with those without the eggs. I did like the flavor of the blondies. My co-op is running a special on these mixes by the case and I thought about trying some other things. From what I can tell most of the mixes do have rice. They're good for those of us who are cooking without...
  14. I've tried the Blondies with an egg replacer and applesauce. They tasted good but the texture was off some. Does anyone have a Namaste Mix that they love that works really well with a replacer? Thanks!
  15. Thanks elonwy, My dh just bought some shrimp at the store. Let me know if you come up with any other ideas. I love trying new things to fix.!! I thought about doing a smoke salmon and cream cheese roll. The resturant I used to go to offered a soft shell crab roll.
  16. I've gotten teary eyed reading this post. I'm so sensitive!! I'm sending prayers for both of your and your families. The power of prayer is remarkable. My dd was healed shortly after being born. I know she was healed through prayer and grace. I know it's so difficult to take care of a family when you feel so sick. Do you have anyone that can help...
  17. Heather, My dd is gluten-free, CF, & TF as well. I make her individual pizzas that I load up with veggies. I've made a "fake" tomato sauce by roasting red peppers. I just puree the roasted peppers with salt and olive oil. I then spread it on the crust before I bake it. I've also done a "fake pesto" using basil, onion/garlic, sea salt, pepper and olive...
  18. In Bristol we have an Outback and a small local health food store that has a few gluten-free items as well as a Kroger that carries some. Also, in Johnson City there are a couple of locally owned healthfood stores that carry some gluten-free items. Johnson City has an Outback and Carrabba's. I got sick at Carrabba's in Johnson City. I suspect it was...
  19. Tiffany, I had read a post of yours many moons ago that mentioned you were using the crystal. I decided to try the crystal and I love it. I've only been using it for a couple of months but it works so well. The label says it will last up to a year and it doesn't look like Ive used hardly any of it.....not bad for $5 or $6 bucks! Thanks!
  20. A month or so ago I tried to make yogurt with rice milk and probiotics but it didn't work. I used to make organic cow's milk yogurt all the time before my dd had to go casein free. I haven't done much research yet but I want to find out more on freeze dried yogurt starters. I know there are several brands of starters but I don't know if they're casein free...
  21. Thanks, This sounds wonderful, I can't wait to try it! On the veggie side...I like plain cucumber rolls but this sounds so much better. I thought maybe I could get real canned crab and give it a try. I've never had canned crab so I'm not sure how great it would be. I also thought about doing a shrimp roll from shrimp tempura (made with gluten...
  22. We thought my dd was allergic to wheat because her biggest symptom was skin rashes. She also had tempermant changes, and constipation. We saw 3 dermatologist and an allergist. Some of the Dr's thought the rash was related to food, while others did not. She was 2 at the time and her blood work for celiac disease was inconclusive. Her anti-gliadin antibodies...
  23. I didn't realize Lundberg Farms had sushi rice! I found a recipe online for homemade pickled ginger that uses rice vinegar. The sushi resturant I used to frequent made a chilli dipping sauce that was out of this world. I my try to use that instead of the wasabi... I got a Sushi book and video for Christmas and I want to start practicing. Thanks...
  24. My dd usually gets constipation with celiac disease, I have the opposite reaction. A few times she's had very loose stools as well. She's also had a UTI which sometimes can be brought on by stool holding. She took Murilax for 3 months which helped tremendiously. Now we only use it when she needs it, maybe once or twice a week. Dd's Dr. said it was important...
