  1. I just ordered sublingual melatonin from Amazon, so I'll see how it works for me. Chronic sleep maintenance insomnia is dragging me down and it usually gets worse after daylight savings kicks in (next month). Hopefully melatonin helps because I seem to have built up a tolerance to the other OTC meds I was using.
  2. I've been experiencing this off-and-on for the last few months... a couple of weeks ago I finished wearing an event monitor and it turns out I am having preventricular contractions and tachycardia and it was waking me up at night, which was causing the anxious feeling. For some reason I only seem to get them when I'm at rest (sleeping, reading a book, etc...
  3. Thanks burdee. If nothing informative comes from the event recorder I'm wearing, then I'll look into food intolerances. I got a little hung up on my thyroid because the nurse practitioner I saw a couple of months ago said it felt enlarged on palpation. That's why I asked my doctor for more tests. They were supposed to ultrasound, but that didn't happen either...
  4. Here are my thyroid labs from November (range): free T4: 0.90 (0.58-1.64) TSH: 0.89 (0.34-5.60) Thyroid peroxidase AB: 15 (<35) total T3: 1.34 (0.87-1.78) ...didn't realize I had gotten my T3 checked already. I now remember specifically asking my doctor about the free T3 and she won't run that test for some reason (maybe my insurance won't cover...
  5. Awesome info mushroom. Since mine happens mainly at night when I'm lying down after the largest meal of the day for me typically (dinner), then it wouldn't surpise me if food was part of the issue in my case. Since going gluten free I really haven't gotten bloated though... Bubba's Mom, I do (or did) have an iron deficiency, so that also could be a factor...
  6. I don't think I'm getting glutened anywhere because I'm pretty careful. I don't even have gluten foods in the house at all, and I'm pretty careful when I go out. It's possible I may be reacting to a different food (like sugar), so I'll try to pay attention to see if any particular food correlates with the tachy. Mushroom, I don't generally get bloated during...
  7. Has anyone else experienced tachycardia or heart palpitations after going gluten-free? For several years now (3-5) I've gotten very occasional (like maybe a few times a month) heart palps, but since the middle of October (right around the time I challenged with gluten and then went gluten-free for good) they became much more frequent. I notice them anywhere...
  8. I accidentally found this link last week during a google search: Open Original Shared Link Haven't even really looked at it yet, although it might be of some help...
  9. I'm another with low ferritin, but otherwise normal iron. My ferritin was 11 at its lowest and I had definite deficiency symptoms (fatigue, short of breath, lightheaded, etc). Along with the gluten-free diet I had to go on iron supplements 3 times a day with vitamin C for it to really start rising.
  10. Probably a spinach & mushroom frittata.
  11. Thanks. I'm giving my current doc another month to see how this current issues pans out and then I'm thinking about trying an ND, although my insurance won't cover it... might just foot the bill anyhow.
  12. No idea why my doc didn't investigate the cause for anemia. Pretty much everything I've done for my health in the last year has had nothing to do with my doctor anyway. I DXed myself with a gluten sensitivity (possible celiac since I never got the biopsy done- another story) via elimination/challenge. Going off gluten completely solved my GI problems, and...
  13. I've read this basic statement so much on multiple health boards that I'm a little flabbergasted as to why the lab ranges are set the way they are. If so many people are having health problems and being told that their labs are normal, then it seems the "normal" ranges need to be adjusted somehow. What's a person to do if they feel like they're experiencing...
  14. I have a cold right now as well and I've been eating Dr. MacDougall's vegetable soup and roasted pepper tomato (well, actually I haven't tried that one yet; it's in my desk drawer at work). The vegetable wasn't bad though was a little light on the salt. I can't tsate much right now anyway. There is another tomato soup brand I found that is really good, but...
  15. I was just thinking of starting a thread like this... lucky for me someone already did it. I'm looking for good frozen crusts mainly because I don't have much time to cook, and have a terrible kitchen for baking. The only one I've tried so far is Udi's and it wasn't bad. I'd rate about a 7/10. Passable/halfway decent with all the other toppings on it...
  16. My symptoms built up after about 3-5 days (and got progressively worse), but I think everyone is different.
  17. Nevermind... I think I found my answer.
  18. I'm in the same boat... been taking iron supps for over 2 years, plus I reverted back to eating meat from a vegetarian diet. My ferritin won't budge. I just went gluten free a couple of months ago, so I'm hoping that helps in terms of absorption.
  19. I need to preface this by saying that I am not a diagnosed celiac. I have a definite sensitivity to gluten though. I was diagnosed with SIBO a few years ago, took rifaximin (the typically prescribed antibiotic) and the overgrowth went away. Then it came back and I did not have the same improvement with the AB course. And then it came back again, and I began...
  20. No, as far as I know, he did not overcome the problem, but I don't belive it happens 100% of the time (but majority of the time). To me, that's another indication that it's cross-contamination issue, rather than the herb itself. He is not celiac, although does have other GI issues like GERD and a suspected gall-bladder problem.
  21. And, beer-battered fish & chips. I miss that too...
  22. I thought I would miss pizza, but I don't miss it nearly as much as I supposed I would. For me I miss a big old crusty, baguette the most... used to love it with brie or camembert, or just dipped in olive oil.
  23. I have a friend that is exact same thing happened to as well. My friend was a daily smoker for years and suddenly began having these problems (throat tightening, etc)... they went to an allergist and had many tests done. Turns out mold or pollen is most probably the cause and it's likely a cross-contamination issue since marijuana is sometimes grown outdoors...
  24. The dizziness is definitely a withdrawal symptom. I had the same when I went gluten-free: dizziness, lightheaded, vertigo/ataxia, etc. Thankfully it only lasted about 5-7 days.
