  1. I am 3 months post Celiac diagnosis and I've been so so so careful about everything, e.g. deep cleaned kitchen, new pots & pans, washing hands like a maniac, not eating out, taking probiotics, vetted all medicines, lotions, shampoos, etc. Then I find out today that the chicken I've been eating, plain old chicken bought at the grocery store, could very...
  2. Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly.
  3. Hi, Erin. Welcome. I'm a relative newbie to all of this also -- today is the 3-month anniversary of my diagnosis. I was having a lot of the same issues you were having after being gluten-free for almost 2 months...posted about it on the forums and several members posted really good tips. I've added in probiotics and digestive enzymes and that definitely...
  4. Yay! So happy to hear that you continue to feel better. What a relief it must be to have the dizziness gone. For those of us newbies it is great to hear news like this and it gives me hope that in a few more months I'll be feeling better!
  5. 4. E (it was 6 doctors until diagnosis!) 5. I'm at 3 months and still dealing with symptoms...
  6. I found this list of gluten-free restaurant options from SF Gate...it is from March of this year. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Almost as soon as I was diagnosed I had ordered Triumph Dining cards at the recommendation of a friend's brother who has Celiac and travels a lot. I also had the cards from the site you recommended -- thanks so much for that link! I was probably over-prepared but better that than glutened, right?!?!
  8. I'm just back from a week in Athens...it was my first 'real' trip since diagnosis and I alternated between excited and erm, terrified. I shouldn't have worried so much as it turned out to be very easy to dine out. I took my restaurant cards and the Greek Cuisine one proved invaluable. I gave it to every waiter and they paid very close attention each and...
  9. Just checking in. All the suggestions have been helpful. I started the probiotics and they have made a big difference in my gut gurgle. My more detailed food diary has helped pinpoint a couple other things that were causing discomfort (one was gluten-free rice cakes, RICE CAKES?!?!) Still having ups and downs but I'm taking it one day at a time -- actually...
  10. If you don't have a crockpot, get one. Then use this site Open Original Shared Link for tons of great recipes. The blogger's daughter has Celiac so all recipes are gluten-free AND she does not like anything that requires a lot of prep. She's big on dump the stuff in and forget about it! I loved this site (and her cookbooks) before I was even diagnosed with...
  11. Congratulations! Here's to many more weeks (months/years) without gluten!
  12. There was at least one thread on this topic in the hmmmm, Products forum I think. I know I posted a couple links to sites I found there...
  13. Congratulations! Hopefully when I repeat my tests in a few months I'll have similar results!
  14. Welcome! I'm relatively new here myself and I have got to say that the support and wisdom I've received from members of these forums has made my whole adjustment to living with Celiac Disease much more manageable. I too was completely overwhelmed by my diagnosis although very relieved to finally have an answer for why I felt so terrible. The whole 'it is...
  15. I tried Melatonin again this week...had tried it in the past with little success but my sleep has been so fractured the doctor wanted to put me on Ambien! Surprisingly, half of a 3mg tablet of Melatonin has done wonders for me at this time. Go figure. I'll stick with it for a bit since I really do need to try to catch up on sleep. I'm still amazed however...
  16. Don't assume they are the same. I bought my first Body Shop products while living in Hong Kong years ago and when I moved back to the States I found some products either weren't available or were slightly different due to differences between UK and US regulations.
  17. Thanks for the responses. Nice to know I'm not alone. I am better than I was before starting the gluten free diet and my lack of patience gets me in trouble...since I feel a bit better I want to feel ALL better now! I need to get over that, I know. After being so sick that I was mostly stuck at home for months I need to work at getting out and about more...
  18. We're renting an apartment in Athens -- it was recommended by a friend and will allow me to cook. It is less than a 15 minute walk from the Acropolis with a view of the Parthenon from the balcony! I cannot wait...even better, there is a large supermarket right nearby so shopping won't be a hassle. As long as the air traffic controllers don't go on strike...
  19. OMG! I ate an entire box of Triscuits in 3 days prior to my biopsy because the doctor was pretty sure I was going to be going gluten-free after it...oh, I miss that crunchy salty treat.
  20. So, I'm 2.5 months post-diagnosis...slowly feeling a little better...but I've spent a huge amount of time trying to gather information and I think I might be stuck in a rut of seeing problems where there probably isn't a problem. For example, I had this strange slightly red patch of skin on the side of my neck. It came and went...didn't blister or itch...
  21. Thanks for the suggestions; they are very helpful since I'm having to do my 'shopping' remotely, over the internet. I am indeed in Poland and have been stymied trying to find something here. I've got a gluten-free probiotic...that just arrived so I've only just started it. I'm hoping the two together will help with my occasional gurgling gut and discomfort...
  22. I need to order some digestive enzymes and I'm wondering if anyone has any that they really like. Thanks for any recommendations!
  23. I've taken Tylenol Arthritis Pain Relief (or whatever the name is...the one for arthritis) and have not had a problem with it.
  24. I noticed yesterday that Starburst and Skittles both say 'gluten free' on the package! I found a list at this site: Open Original Shared Link Also found this company which sorts by gluten free: Open Original Shared Link
  25. I'm so glad to see you finally get to take your trip. Enjoy! I hope it all goes smoothly and you have lots of sun and good times. We are headed to Athens, Greece in less than a week and while I am also dealing with pain issues and at times the thought of travel terrifies me (this is my first trip since diagnosis) I REFUSE to cancel this trip and let Celiac...
