  1. He didn't nearly die. He expired. He is deceased. He is no more. And yes, celiac or gluten shock is a syndrome brought about when someone on a strict gluten free diet is inadvertently exposed to gluten, goes into tachycardia, and in rare cases dies. Feel free to look it up. I would say that's pretty damn sensitive.
  2. Also, with Boots, PF, Smashbox, PF, Red Apple, urban decay, elf, neutrogena- I really don't feel limited. Not to mention the gluten free products within brands like covergirl (who has gotten much better about ingredients communication) and olay. I mean, I am limited in the sense that I have acne prone skin even at 27, so I use sensitive skin formulas, but...
  3. I don't think I'm the one here with an attitude problem.
  4. Don't let me dream of nectar. Make me fruit on the tree.

  5. Actually, no, that isn't what I said at all. I'd be lying if I said I thought it was okay for a celiac to keep on using gluten containing makeup, because honestly? I think there are equally as good if not better brands available in stores that are all gluten free. PF, Neutrogena, Boots Brand No. 7, and E.L.F., and Milani are just a few that span the range...
  6. I JUST. I CAN'T EVEN. WHAT IS THIS? *******INCOHERENT RAGEY FLAILINGGGGGGGGGGG******** #Celiac

  7. And one final thing as to the super sensitive issue not being proven: Tell that to my graduate advisor, who's son died in his early twenties from celiac shock. It's really insulting.
  8. And you need to let both viewpoints be expressed, especially as both are correct. I often fall asleep in my makeup, because I come home exhausted from work. I shower with my makeup. I can quote MULTIPLE scientific studies where cosmetic companies have to demonstrate how much of their product is absorbed directly into the skin. There was another scientific...
  9. I'm simply telling you what my own personal experience has been. Obviously I'm not eating my eyeliner (thanks for that, Melissa), but it is right around your *eyes.* Clearly. Which are mucous membranes. Also, if you are anything like me, and rub your eyes when you're tired or frustrated or angry or overwhelmed, or if your makeup runs when you're crying or...
  10. Hey, I'm almost six months gluten free. I've only just recently started reacting to all my topicals, including my makeup. However, I did so with a vengeance. I had a full blown gluten reaction to eyeliner that I hadn't vetted, and hadn't used in a long time. Now I go on the manufacturer's website and investigate everything I put on my skin, and/or read...
  11. Start simple. My default meal when I'm glutened is rice and plainly cooked meat, usually fish or chicken. Eat something you're pretty sure doesn't bother you and stick to simple for a few days to clear out your system. Then, add back something that you suspect might bother you. Like, add back fruit, or casein, or whatever. The point is to think of your body...
  12. There's another thread I posted recently in "Coping With" where I figured out a lot of people trend towards worse after 3-6 months gluten free. I know I did. It's a combination of increasing sensitivity to cross contamination, as well as the development of additional food intolerances. In my case, I became highly intolerant to corn gluten as well as wheat...
  13. 2nd time in two years.

  14. To answer your first question, yes, people get more sensitive over time. I went from a fairly high gluten threshold to highly sensitive over a period of about three months or so. As to your second question, people also develop more intolerances as they heal, and the timeline there seems to be anywhere from 3 to 6 months gluten free. I'm now MORE intolerant...
  15. Good to know that all the dental office stuff is gluten free. I have a ton of dental work coming up next week ($3,000 worth ). I go a chain here in MA, Aspen Dental, but they were incredibly nice and accommodating, from the receptionist to the Doctor. They were very receptive to Celiac disease, and just asked me to double check my own sources to make sure...
  16. GNC vitamins are great, they have none of the major allergens including gluten, dairy, and soy. I swear by them, but they run in the pricey range. They have different types of formulations, depending on what your problem is. They have hair loss vitamin supplements for sure, a regular woman's 'one a day,' and a bone loss supplement for sure among many others...
  17. Up to this point, I haven't found anyone who was really deliberately nasty to me. There's a whole heck of a lot of bewildered ignorance, or the usual same stupid stuff that people say, but nothing that suggests that people aren't supportive of it. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most of my work colleagues saw me shrink in half when my...
  18. Some ideas: 1. Very early rheumatoid arthritis. 2. A groin pull. 3. Trochanteric bursitis- bursitis of the hip. 4. Early osteoarthritis of the hip. 5. Very remote possibility of lyme. A rheumy would be able to pin it down a little better. It depends on exactly where you feel the pain.
  19. I've been five months gluten free, and it was all going really well. Adjusting to the diet, getting healthier, getting my energy back. All of a sudden, I've developed two new food sensitivities in two weeks. Corn, which is confirmed, makes me as sick as if I've gotten a huge dose of gluten. Soy, which I haven't completely nailed down yet, seems to be a...

Oh hey cool, I can comment to you! And no I didn't. But, I'm good with that.

  21. Breakfast, a super dark cup of coffee, I might just be human again. Maybe.

  22. I would create a note or addendum if you like the other information in the pamphlet that says in rare cases it can be life threatening or even fatal. I had a professor in graduate school who's son died of acute complications due to undiagnosed celiac. So it does happen, even if it's not often.
  23. I've used the pizza mix just last week without any problems, and I run towards the very sensitive side of things. I second the xanthum gum or the mozzarella being the likely culprits, rather than cc in the BRM. I've NEVER had a problem with any of their products.
  24. It's kind of hilarious. =D

  25. #GlutenFree #Reviews #Boston They are based out of Woburn, and take telephone orders for cookies, cakes, pie, whatevah ya's need.
