ARCHIVED Enterolab
VydorScope replied to confusedks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is an internet forum, completely devoid of all emotional context and body lang. 80% of all lang is NON VERBAL, and completely missing from this medium. The human brain can not stand missing data, and in absence of data will often MAKE IT UP. Thus the readers see things in posts that the poster did not mean. This is normal, and unconscious. It is life on... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Intolerance
VydorScope replied to candi1008's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In some cases its a distinction with out a difference. In other cases it makes all the difference in the world Officially you can only have celiac disease (in USA at least) if you have a positive biopsy. If your not merely far enough along to have acquired enough damage to show up in a biopsy (a good thing!) you would be labeled as GI instead of celiac... -
Going back to the orginal question... "What do you do?" Wow, six months ago this was so clear... and now? heh. You see six months ago I sat as "Director of MIS" for a company in Nashville, TN that I rescued from certain doom, and created a profitable venture by completely from the ground up rebuilding/designing the entire IT infrastructure. Writing...

VydorScope replied to confusedks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was considering Entorlab for validating my gluten challenge for my son since his communication is still limited (hey is is only 3!) All we have to go by is his behavior and his stools which all look normal. On further investigation we found out that Entrolab ONLY tests IgA making it useless for us since his IgA score originally was 0.1 at the height of... -
ARCHIVED Go To Allergist
VydorScope replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
OH one more thing STOP ALL ALLERGY MEDS AT LEAST 5 DAYS BEFORE THE TEST. They will impact the test, and the doc should have told you this already, but just in case I figured I better mention it. -

Also note that the allergy blood test and skin test, test for DIFFERENT reactions. For example my son DOES react to egg in the skin test BUT not in the blood test. In our case we have discovered he can EAT egg with out any problems, but if he gets it on his skin he gets a rash. -

VydorScope replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For allergy testing, no. Thankfully. What they will do is introduce a controlled amount of the allergen to his skin or blood and watch for an reaction which usually happens in 10 to 15 mins on skin, but for blood usually have to send to a lab. -
ARCHIVED Go To Allergist
VydorScope replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If he is reacting to gluten ONLY DUE TO celiac disease then he will test NEGATIVE to an allergy to wheat. If he ALSO has an allergy, or only has an allergy then he SHOULD get a positive result. I would test all the major foods in his diet to be safe(r ). -

I think Rach has a lot of valid points. I think we need to be careful of coming to heavy down on any one side though. IMO.. If testing (Entrolab, Biopsy, etc) shows a problem with gluten of any kind, then first step is a gluten-free diet. If some one does not [slowly/quickly/whatever] start to get better, or gets somewhat better, but still has issues,... -

ARCHIVED Adhd? Gluten Sensitivity? Any Help Would Be Great-
VydorScope replied to bec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
First here is my limited credentials: I am officially diagnosed with Adult ADD, by two independent doctors and have don trials on the strongest of meds (at the time) but presently unmedicated. I used to run a very large ADD/ADHD support group, and saw a lot variations in the standard cases and saw a lot of different treatments that were tried and failed... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Gluten Sensitivity (fecal Antigliadin Iga) Score < 15
VydorScope replied to zorax2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes it would, and is likely why you got a "low" positive. The longer your gluten-free, the lower your score SHOULD be. -

There have been a few who have posted on this board that say they have gotten neg results. They are few and far between, which I would suspect since before most ppl will shell out a almost $400 for the full test, they usually are sick enough to make it worth their while. I would say of ppl taking his test, prbly 90-95% do have celiac disease just based on... -

As long as she is gaining, I would not worry about how fast. There will come a time when you need her to stop gaining and that will be eaiser if she is gaining slowly rather rapiddly. -

Bizzo, I think you missed the part where she ALREADY has blood sugar issues, and the Levaquin just aggravated them. No one is questioning the impact of the medication, which she stopped taking, but helping her deal with her existing problems with blood sugar. But that is a useful bit of information about antibotics, I will have to check with my meter next... -

Nancy, The important thing to keep in front her is your child health. You are doing that, so your inlaws can go jump in a lake and get over themselves. That is my most HUMBLE opinion of course! -

Entorlab has been around a while now, and while that is not proof, it is true that with time most scams are revealed. I would not doubt their results esply given how POOR of a test the biopsy is. Entorlab test is similar to the IGA blood test, just more sensitive. The gene test is a whole another debate. The problem with that one is just because you have... -

As long as your blood sugar stays over say 70 or so you are okay. There is a lot said about the importance of breakfast, but if your eating a good diet through out the day and having your first meal late you still fine. If you found your self slipping in to lower and lower blood sugar, then you will have to eat REGARDLESS if your hungry or not. This does... -

I use Splenda, its safe. But you will find some ppl that disagree. Truth is a huge number of ppl use it every day with no problems, but ppl love a conspiracy theory! I just ignore them any more... ANYTHING you eat can be specifically a problem for you (like you find out with stevia) so you have to be careful trying a new food of course. I wont touch... -

I guess its a guy thing, I have in-laws that do not like me or the fact that I "took" my wife from them and all that. I just ignore them... who cares? I do the best I can for my wife and child, and leave them to live in their own misery with out my participation.
