  1. I wouldn't be afraid to use a stainless steel pot that other things had been cooked in AS LONG AS YOU WASH THEM VERY WELL before making her food.
  2. You are MOST welcome! No problem with making these recipes. If you just follow the directions they lay out, you will be absolutely fine! BTW, I chose to make everything using the flour blend they give you the recipe for. It really is better than the pre-made flours you can buy. To make things easier, I make a double batch of the flour blend and put it in...
  3. Hooray, hooray!!!! Progress is GOOD! Thank you for telling your story. It demonstrates that healing does happen!
  4. If you like to bake & want fabulous stuff to make & eat then hold onto your hat because there is a cookbook out there that is nothing short of amazing! Get the How Can It Be Gluten Free Cookbook by America's Test Kitchen. Start with the first one & if you like that & I'm sure you'll go bananas over it then you can get Vol. 2. Breads that taste...
  5. Oh I do understand! You're what? Only 4 months out with eating gluten free? Your gut is still in an uproar not to mention the inflammation in various other parts of your body. You've got to get your immune system calmed down before you go branching out. Easy does it. Do you know about bone broth? It's an amazing thing. Very nutritious, extremely easy on the...
  6. We have a member who got sick every time she ate sweet potatoes. Someone suggested she try organic sweet potatoes. Viola'! Problem solved. Go figure. She could eat regular potatoes that weren't organic. Yes, i know, regular potatoes & sweet potatoes are 2 different plants entirely but the point is that she ate other things non organically grown but the...
  7. They are to me but NOT to all celiacs. We recommend one doesn't try oats for the first year. The reasons are that it can take that much time for your body and symptoms/reactions to settle down (even longer sometimes) and for your gut to really be pretty well healed, also the fiber of eating oats can be hard on your gut especially when it's not all healed...
  8. I might add that a short time prior to emailing BRM which resulted in my receipt of the above posted reply, I had phoned BRM asking if they used purity protocol oats & was told by the woman I spoke to, Janelle, that ALL their oats were grown under a purity protocol. I directly asked her if they used any oats that were optically or mechanically sorted...
  9. Some of us, approx. 10%, have problems even with oats grown under a purity protocol. Read this: Open Original Shared Link I happen to be one of those celiacs. I get a reaction even when there is cross contamination with gluten-free oats. So my answer to you is to make sure you can tolerate the oats before you recommend he grow oats.
  10. Try this link: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/52692-farming-with-celiac/
  11. You're welcome. I know you're not going to be inhaling the seed but I don't know what you might be exposed to in your work around the ranch working with feed etc.... I was originally looking for a study or report I have read a number of times before about 2 ?farmers?, brothers, who were both celiac and they both continued to have big problems despite...
  12. There is also this thread from 2008
  13. Dunnyveg, you might want to read this: Nonresponsive Celiac Disease Due to Inhaled Gluten Open Original Shared Link
  14. And I got this email on Jan. 15, 2016 from BRM when I inquired of them. Emphasis mine. Thank you for contacting Bob's Red Mill. I’d be happy to give you more information about our products. Thank you for your inquiry regarding Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oats. For over 30 years, Bob’s Red Mill has been committed to pro...
  15. I would recommend you go back to gluten TODAY!!!! Reason? Because celiacs almost always react more strongly to gluten when they have been off it. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many people have done what you have & gone gluten free BEFORE getting tested & they end up regretting that because when they go back to gluten for the challenge for testing...
  16. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted. i hope things just continue to improve from here on out.
  17. DH is not caused by anything else but Celiac Disease. A dh biopsy, if positive for dh, would conclusively confirm DH & therefore celiac. Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a rare but persistent immunobullous disease that has been linked to coeliac disease (American spelling celiac), a Open Original Shared Link. What causes dermatitis herpetiformis...
  18. I don't see the celiac serum panel there.
  19. Sorry guys but your info. is a bit out of date. If one has a dx of dh then NO FURTHER TESTING IS NEEDED. A dx of dh IS a dx of celiac disease. See: Open Original Shared Link Your blood would likely test false negative anyway if you have dh. Here's an excerpt: Many people with DH have no digestive symptoms and only about 40% of them have positive...
  20. One of the triggers that causes celiac disease to present is stress. Losing your mom qualifies & you say that's when symptoms began to develop. Nope, I don't think it's coincidence. Even if it were, you have enough symptoms to need to rule it out.
  21. You HAVE to have been eating gluten on a daily basis or the tests will come up false negative. Here is the current FULL celiac panel. Make him do the whole thing not just a screening. We have people who only show positive on the DGP so make sure you get everything in the panel done & then continue eating gluten until you get the test results. If they...
  22. Thanks for the link. That was 2006 - 10 years ago. Sensitivity & specificity can change a lot in 10 years but also that's why they added the DgP tests to the full panel. This is the full, current panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide...
  23. You really need to get properly tested and that means you will have to do a gluten challenge: Open Original Shared Link Many females diagnosed with celiac disease have a history of infertility and there is a yield of screening infertile individuals for celiac disease. Patients often have a vast array of symptoms and complications, not...
