  1. I meant to say & forgot to. Yes, I had blepharitis and my eyes became so dry I could no longer wear my contacts, also I had a lot of mucus film over my eyes which was extremely annoying interfering with clear vision. You would think the mucus would lubricate the eye but it didn't work that way. It's all cleared up since going gluten free. Gone! ...
  2. Hi Dotster, Please read these links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link You might want to print them out & take them with you especially to the derm for a biopsy. Make sure the biopsy is done correctly and insist on getting the biopsy. If the derm says you have common eczema without doing any labs for anything else...
  3. Dear Barty, Dear Barty, dear Barty, dear Barty, dear Barty. I love you. I will remember you. Whenever I think of you, I think of you in your store, happy, with lovely music filling the air, or at home with Patches in your lap and you feeding him from a spoon. I will always think of you these ways. You will go to your reward from your beloved Black...
  4. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac. Open Original Shared Link It’s not necessary to perform an intestinal biopsy to establish the diagnosis of celiac disease in a patient with DH; the skin biopsy is definitive. It can take time for the rash to get out from under your skin, sometimes years. Open Original Shared Link Iodine aggravates t...
  5. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Yep, I figured I would need someone to crank it & I'm only getting older so cranking will get harder.
  6. Thanks GEE EFF. I got the NutriMill Classic Grain Mill. The reviews are great & I know a person who has one. She is not celiac but has ground rice in it for rice flour & her reports are glowing.
  7. Aw Barty, you are so sweet! You must have done a lot of searching to find that! Thank you! I looked & looked & looked and couldn't find anything so then decided to post here. I did finally think to post a question on the Amazon thread where I ordered the mill from. I got 3 varying answers but one lady said: Depending on how fine you grind...
  8. I am getting a grain mill and now need to order the rice grains. I have Googled and can not find anything that tells me how many cups or ounces of rice flour I will get from say a pound of rice grain. Does anyone have the answer to this?
  9. But if your doctor says you can go gluten free BEFORE tests are completed then find yourself another doctor!
  10. I agree with Cyclinglady. Furthermore, we are all individuals so don't go by what you think others have for symptoms. We don't ALL have the same exact symptoms. I got nausea in the latter years but did not throw up. I have dermatitus herpitiformis (the celiac rash) & had "D" only about every 6 weeks, not all the time or even what I would call frequently...
  11. Tracy it can take years for the antibodies to get out from under our skin. Some longer than others. Don't loose heart though as plenty are relieved of the rash in months. Let's hope you are one of them! One thing you can do too is go on a low iodine diet for several weeks. Iodine is like throwing gas on a fire as far as the rash is concerned. Go to thyca...
  12. Hi Tracy It's really hard to say from a photo. There are hundreds of rashes out there in the great big world. DH is intensely itchy, like bone deep and it never stops itching. It will keep you awake at night. In fact, it seems to ramp up in intensity (if that's possible) in late afternoon. It almost always appears bilaterally -- spookily echoing itself...
  13. Be advised that if you decide to do celiac testing you MUST be eating a gluten diet. If you have gone off of gluten or even gone "gluten light" then you will have to do a gluten challenge for testing. Here is what a gluten challenge requires: Open Original Shared Link If you are indeed a celiac, you should know that going gluten free as a test bears...
  14. I am not familiar with the blue runner brand but I do know that Bush's beans are gluten free -- all of their beans are. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  15. That might be a good idea. I don't think a wipe will get the gluten off or not all of the gluten off anyway. I agree with Raven about the hair as well. And then there is the neck and the arms. Yep, a bath might be the best course of all.
  16. I know this sounds silly but are you washing their faces as well as their hands? Kiddos get food all over their faces even if only from touching their faces with their gluten hands. I like Ravens idea about the nitrile gloves.
  17. Aw, you're so welcome. I just wish this hadn't happened to you. Before I forget...... NEVER say you don't belong here without a celiac diagnosis. UNTRUE!!! this site is also for NCGS as well AND there are plenty of people on here who had circumstances very much like yours where they got screwed up by bad information from the docs and couldn't get a diagnosis...
  18. You are welcome! You might want to check out this section: https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/10-celiac-disease-parents-of-kids-or-babies-with-celiac-disease/ Look through threads on there, maybe especially going back around 2011-2013. There is a lot of great information on there about kids & figuring out all the things that are going...
  19. She has to be eating gluten for 2 weeks before an endoscopic biopsy for celiac disease. I'm sure that's why the doc is wanting her eating a few gluten crackers per day. Open Original Shared Link To do the blood work she would have to eat gluten for 12 weeks. I would guess the doc intends to scope & while he's in there, he will do biopsies for...
  20. Not without doing the celiac testing.
  21. And keep a food & symptoms diary. That is your best key to what foods are bothering you.
  22. Read this thread & also threads on the dermatitis herpetiformis section. https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/26-dermatitis-herpetiformis/
