  1. Merry Christmas to all! Barty, enjoy the crab legs.
  2. I have a theory that there are subsets of celiacs. That there are celiacs who react more strongly to barley than perhaps to wheat. I have almost always had a problem with barley. When I was a teen experimenting with alcohol, I quickly discovered beer was NOT for me! Every time I had beer, it felt like a metal rake had been raking the inside of my intestines...
  3. Welcome aboard crystallized11! Wow, the 27 th world reported case. Do they give you a medal for that? All jokes aside, that must have been terrifying. I think you have already helped in your above post. I'm sure we can also learn things from you.
  4. Well said Barty!
  5. Common, common, common, common. What you're going through is all too common. Remember, you MUST be eating gluten every day until ALL testing is complete including an endoscopy. I know it sucks. {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} and hang in there.
  6. I second this. You MUST be eating wheat for testing & that includes an endoscopy. Do not let up on the gluten eating, do not think you can stop now & then eat some a few days before the testing. Also, do you have copies of your celiac blood panel? Can you post them here along with their reference ranges? You may not have had the full, current...
  7. We do what we have to do at the time based upon the information given us and considering how we are feeling & what we are going through at the time winjer. Hindsight is 20/20. We do the best we can. After that, the best we can do is move forward. {{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
  8. There is a recall on Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes for undeclared wheat & egg ingredients. See: Open Original Shared Link
  9. Okay Positron.. uh, er, Kashmir, you're pushing it AGAIN! The OP is in Canada and their health system is different than the US. You need to QUIT harassing posters about hiring lawyers & suing doctors. I've had enough of you. You didn't learn the first time. I'm reporting you.
  10. Some of us don't have any problem with lactose. Some of us can eat certain dairy items right off the bat, some of us have to avoid all dairy right off the bat. The OP will find out by herself. If she's okay with dairy or with yogurt then there is no need for her to avoid it. If she can eat it, she will be getting some nice calcium. Again I say, with the exception...
  11. Some of us NEED to eat or as you say overeat as we are way too skinny and can benefit from the yogurt & the fats it carries. Rarely does a celiac go gluten free & magically overnight they are healed or don't need probiotics. This is not a one size fits all situation Kashmir and what worked for you does not necessarily work for everyone or work as...
  12. Donna, if cutting the granola does the trick for you then when you get to the point of eating gluten-free processed foods (& breads) then be cautious & only add 1 at the time to make sure you don't react. I am 1 of those who has a real reaction to even cert. gluten-free pure oats & apparently I react a great deal to them. So much so that I was...
  13. Forman337, It certainly sounds like you have a problem with gluten. What GFinDC said is true. When we go gluten-free it can be a rocky road for a while. For 3, 6 months, even a year. Kind of like a roller coaster with good days & bad days & everything in between until your gut starts healing. We also can go through something called gluten...
  14. And I agree with this. Positron has been posting on many threads in an inflammatory manner. It makes me wonder if Positron is a troll. anyana, Please do not think this kind of thing is normal here and it will not be tolerated for long. I apologize on behalf of the entire community here for the treatment Positron has exhibited.
  15. Hi Abel, Welcome to the club no one ever wants to be in. You need to make sure to keep eating gluten until the endoscopy!!! It's imperative!! Also, all your first degree relatives should be tested every 2 years -- sooner if symptoms present. Celiac disease can present at any time in life. It is not surprising your surgery triggered your...
  16. For what it's worth the same is true of me. I don't know immediately when I've gotten glutened. it takes a while because I don't get the gut symptoms right away. In fact, the gut symptoms are the last thing to present with me. Know too, that as time goes on, your symptoms of a glutening can change & present differently. I'm going to be brutally...
  17. I'm betting on gluten withdrawal.
  18. Please do not spread rumors like this on the board. These 2 items are a huge misconception. Please read the following links: http://www.glutenfreedietitian.com/flavorings-extracts-are-they-gluten-free/ http://www.delightglutenfree.com/glutenfreemyths#.Vm8UoRGG-Ww If natural flavors and carmel coloring were glutening celiacs then most of us...
  19. Hi & welcome to the forum. The sugar cane should have zero effect on the rash. The dairy products can in that they are high in iodine. Iodine makes the rash flare. Try going low iodine for 2 weeks. Here is a link to a low iodine diet -- just make sure you leave the gluten out. Open Original Shared Link Also, let's make sure you aren't...
  20. There is no test for non celiac gluten intolerance. Those people test negative on the celiac serum panel. Hopefully a test for that will be developed soon but as of now there is none. I am not great at telling you exactly what each of these tests means ie: which is for what but they are all different tests for celiac & any positive can not be ignored...
  21. I agree with GeeEffinDC. The neurologist might be your best & only hope. Actually there have been more than a few people alerted to celiac by their neurologist.
  22. You didn't eat gluten long enough. Open Original Shared Link
  23. What state & country are you in? There must be 100's of Fairfield Counties.
