  1. Ditto what Bartful said. You really DO need to read the Newbie 101.
  2. I don't know how old you are or if you have kids or what. If you're past child bearing & don't have any kids then I could say just go gluten free & don't look back but if you have kids or plan on having them, they will need testing every 2 years or sooner if symptoms present. it is MUCH easier to get them tested if you have an official dx. Soooooooooooo...
  3. Were you eating gluten every day for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the endoscopy? How many biopsies did the doc take? You should have a minimum of 6.
  4. Ankur, you might be interested in reading several of these informative posts: Open Original Shared Link
  5. Make sure they take a minimum of 6 biopsies!!!! The intestine is the size of a tennis court if you were to lay it all out flat so it's imperative they take 6 biopsies otherwise they can miss damage due to the sheer vastness.
  6. Hi Jay. It's really wonderful to see a supportive partner - that is going to be paramount to her health & sticking to the diet. You didn't ask what 1 of the most important things is but I told you anyway. Biggest misconceptions: Paper plates contain gluten A tiny bit of gluten won't hurt me I can cheat once in a while Now for your question of what...
  7. Ahhhhhhhhhh, grasshopper, you have much to learn yet. Do not despair. Just get yourself the "How Can It Be Gluten Free Cookbook" by America's Test Kitchen. Start with the first one or go ahead & get them both. The first one has some delicious gluten-free bread!!! And dinner rolls. I tweaked the dinner roll recipe & make burger buns out of it which...
  8. I'm sure icelandgirl meant to type additive not addictive when speaking of carrageenan. LOL! Happens to the best of us. Happens a lot to me.

  11. Welcome to the club you never wanted to be a part of.
  12. Victor, Victor, we've told you before NOT to quit eating gluten until ALL testing is done but you did not listen. Instead you were obsessed with looking up horror stories of cancer & spleens & anything else you could find that was super dramatic. HERE: Open Original Shared Link It says: Prior to an endoscopic biopsy we recommend 2 weeks of eating...
  13. I think you're doing the right thing Sarah. I think your PC doc will be reasonable especially knowing the history of all that happened. Print out copies of recommendations from the U of Chicago Celiac Disease Center Open Original Shared Link pertaining to the # of biopsies and needing to be eating gluten for the endoscopy (gluten challenge) etc... and take...
  14. I agree with Bartful but it also sounds like you could be going through withdrawal but it is pretty late in the game for gluten withdrawal. Depends on how frequently you got glutened.
  15. Oh, & celiacs who have dh generally don't have the GI issues that "regular" celiacs do & if we do, then we tend to have milder GI symptoms. And when you cut gluten for a month last year -- no, that was probably not long enough but I bet you only thought you had cut out gluten. It's not as simple as only eating meat, veggies & fruit. There are...
  16. I just can't see how any doctor thinks this is a contact reaction. Make sure you haven't had any oral steroids or steroid shots in the 2 months prior to a dh biopsy. And read thread after thread after thread on this section. Unless you get really lucky with a derm, you're going to have to INSIST they do the biopsy & make sure you watch them so they...
  17. Theo it is so hard to tell from photos. However, dh does present bilaterally & is itchy as all get out. Elbows, knees are what most derms associate with dh although dh can & does present anywhere on the body. Derms fail to read past elbows & knees & thus fail to "get" that it can present anywhere. You need a new derm. You need to have a dh...
  18. Mrs. Farhan, what country are you in? I Googled Aciolic & couldn't find any drug with that name. Apparently Quinox is Ciprofloxacin which is an antibiotic and Prednisolon is a steroid (Prednisone here in the US) and this is Buscopan: Open Original Shared Link Did the doctor tell you that he needs to eat strict gluten free? Because that is really the...
  19. Mel, I would be curious to know which tests were done for your celiac blood panel. Can you get them, post them along with the ranges for them? They may not have done a full celiac panel on you is why I'm wondering. You sure sound celiac. And I hope he took 6 biopsies.
  20. Nelly, how long have you been gluten free?
  21. Actually, when I was having this kind of bloat before I knew I had celiac I found that drinking prune juice really helped. Honest to goodness. I don't know how it works to break up the gas bubble but it worked for me. It's like this humongous gas bubble is sitting in there taking up all the available room. You literally feel like you will quite simply explode...
  22. You're welcome. I don't think we will ever see an oat free designation. I don't know what ranking oats have on the allergen list but i don't imagine they're very high up there.
  23. Some people find it helpful to eat the gluten before bed so that the worst effects occur overnight & they might not be so bad off at work the next day. It works for some & not for others. Worth a try though. When you get your results then come back here & read the Newbie 101 in the Coping section so you can learn how to keep yourself safe. There...
