  1. I'm too lazy to make donuts, and there is no such thing as a pre-made gluten free donut that is good. Passable yes, good no. So smell is all I get of them. To get to where my husband works he drives through a small town that has a mill. You can literally taste the flour in the air. I won't go through town, I take back roads. You can see the dust in...
  2. I will still on occasion go right on over to the donut case at the bakery and open a door, close my eyes and just breathe. I really don't care that people look at me like I'm a freak. The only risk in this is the touching of the door, and I use one of those little papers to open it with. I've never gotten sick from this weird practice. Barring some extremely...
  3. We don't need website maintenance. We need people maintenance!
  4. WTH?! Is it like some mass thing going around making people feel bad? I feel like hell, but I guess I can say that I'm fortunate that is only general female hell. And then the milk tank at the dairy broke. And the store is completely out of safe milk for me. Which is my sole consolation. WAAAAA!!!! We could have a regular pity party going here. I'll...
  5. I don't know. There was maintenance and POOF! I feel like some sort of creepy, lurking stalker or something.
  6. GAH! You poor thing. I guess though, if you want a rainbow, you don't have to worry now about being silent and wondering forever if you have accidents. (I've always thought that is far scarier than being sick, even though I stay sick for more than a month.) Glad that it hasn't stayed horrid for too long though. It wasn't that terribly long ago I did pretty...
  7. I'm so easily confused! It was http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Ragu-Bolognese-Food-Network_2?servings=8 which was a direct result of https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/95164-spaghetti-sauce-from-hell/ and let me just get this right out there. My husband hates it. Fine. Whatever. Clearly he was born with defective taste buds.
  8. IH copied it, but I'll just link it because I'm lazy. http://www.ourbestbites.com/2011/02/quick-brazilian-cheese-rolls-pao-de-queijo-2/ I really like it a whole lot. I highly recommend it. They puff up really nicely! I don't know if the recipe says so, but the batter is pure liquid. Don't be alarmed.
  9. Adventurous me tonight. Sometimes you have to be willing to fail in the kitchen if you want something awesome. I was making pork chops and thought to myself, how can I change that cheesebread recipe to go with it. I wouldn't call what came out an utter failure... but I wouldn't recommend making them without cheese, period. I tried very, very finely diced...

    ARCHIVED Rodizio

It is substantially cheaper at lunch. Unfortunately my husband's (and my) favorites are only served in the evenings. For us it is worth it to go less often and go in the evenings. For people going for the first time to try it, I do highly recommend lunch. It isn't always as busy, and you can decide if it is your sort of thing on a budget instead of spending...
  11. There is a local guy here in Utah who has been shut down, is being sued, blah blah blah. He was claiming he could cure diabetes through his some program or other that he learned from some quack over in CO. Scammed a bunch of old people out of money. I don't necessarily think it is complete quackery. I did see one briefly who helped me immensely with...
  12. I used to think I didn't like jeans. Then Lane Bryant/Fashion Bug started with the Right Fit line. Holy crap! So okay, I'm not exactly skinny, but somehow no matter what happens to my weight I keep this perfect hourglass thing going. Sounds nice right? Try finding jeans for it. Jeans are made for girls that have zero to few curves apparently. I could not...
  13. He isn't a doctor. He is a quackerpracter.... sorry, chiropractor. IMO they should stick with what they went to school for, which does not usually involve practicing medicine. I'm not against alternative approaches. Heck, I'm all for it. But this fad of turning to quackerpracters for medical care is dangerous.
  14. A lot of people have issues with oats completely. It isn't that the oats aren't actually gluten free, it is that we have a gluten-like reaction to actual oats and are simply never able to tolerate them. Depending on the severity of your intolerance, you may be able to still eat things processed in facilities that handle oats, or you may not. Many here can...
  15. So it has finally been a whole year. I am making an appointment because it is time to get a checkup on my liver. Because of all of the screwing around that was done, not in particular in putting off my surgery in general, but once I showed up at the ER a week before Christmas in 2011 in more pain than I had ever been in with elevated liver enzymes, I get...
  16. Other than occasionally visiting family back in PA only have a desire to travel once. http://www.tamimiea.com/giraffe-manor/index.html I want to spend a week there. Who am I kidding, I want to LIVE there. The only other place I have ever seriously considered traveling to is Germany. Frankly though, it isn't making the top of the list of things to do til...
  17. Larabars, Trio bars, Kind bars (none of which I can have atm... but soon again!) fruit leather, especially Stretch Island which is super cheap at Costco. I like to make krispy treats with Pebbles and marshmallows, mixing up flavors of marshmallows and Pebbles for fun. (I usually make really small batches so they don't get hard.) I make a lot of pudding too...
  18. It says right on their website that they are gluten free. The link is in the original post. You can of course always feel free to call Hershey about it to verify. Many do eat them with no issue. I indulged a few times with no problems. Not the sort of thing I would eat any more, but not for gluten reasons. I certainly wouldn't turn one down if I were hungry...
  19. I guess if you're into milk chocolate and looking for a replacement that works. My birthday chocolate disks are made of organic cacao beans, organic cane sugar, organic cinnamon. They're pretty free of nearly everything but sugar and chocolate, although they don't say they're certified. Then again things don't need to be either. It is more important that...
  20. Happens to the best of us. I did that to myself with soup. At least you know though. Feel better soon!
  21. I've never really traveled. I mean, I drove from PA to UT but that doesn't really count as travel. I get that Utah is the butt of many jokes. Heck, I used to make them. (I was not mormon when I moved here, they snagged me later.) It really is amazing though how being in the mormon capital attracts so many people from around the world. It is truly a family...
  22. There are a lot of dairy free chocolate options without having to go to specialty foods. You simply have to go to high end chocolates. I got a disk of Chocolate Mexicano for my birthday that is gluten, soy and dairy free. I am excited to make some hot chocolate! I also have a few squares left of a bar (I lost the wrapper long ago to know the brand) that has...
  23. That is sort of why I asked what tests were done. Sometimes a duck is a duck is a duck. I don't care if the tests tell you a duck isn't a duck, if a duck is staring you in the eyes, it doesn't matter what a piece of paper says. You would be a moron to say, hey, that ain't no duck! ETA: Also, once I got my head out of my ever too ample backside, I was thrilled...
  24. I also tolerate neither! I stay indoors during the day most of the time. I love to spend evenings outdoors though in the summer. It is positively lovely! You know, it is true that Utah isn't really exotic exactly... but we do have a very large immigrant population from all over the world. Now, most of these are mormons, but are also more than happy to share...
  25. I'm partial to Utah. Just sayin'. But really, the weather is great here most of the time, this cold thing is highly unusual. Summers are mild, winters are mild. We have summer sports, winter sports, deserts, mountains, lakes, cities, quick escapes to the country and from people. Really, we have it all and without having to really go anywhere.
