  1. You are so right that there is a real difference between candy and chocolate. And when I want chocolate, I want chocolate, not candy! When I buy I honestly rarely buy the same brand twice, there is just so much to experience. Right now I don't even have the name of the brand of the bar on my desk because for some weird reason I threw out the wrapper. I am...

    ARCHIVED Crps?

I looked that up.... um, am I crazy or do they put needles IN ME?! I am so far ignoring the part where my insurance will not pay, at all, under any circumstances, for a specialist or for tests other than blood tests. I probably sound like a fraidy cat with all the little things I'm sort of scared of, but needles get me nearly to the point of panic attack...
  3. Looks like you have no takers! You might get someone to take you on as a house guest for a while... you know, if you offer to do the cooking.

    ARCHIVED Crps?

I noticed 4 years ago, late into one evening that my left ankle was swollen and a little tender. I thought this was a little odd, as I didn't recall a particularly recent injury but thought I would see how it felt in the morning and carried on with my night and went to bed. All initially seemed well in the morning but as the day wore on the swelling and pain...
  5. We recently had freezing rain. It is such a rare occurrence here in Utah and reminded me of all of the sleet and sneet from back home. I do not miss it. By all means, keep your sneet. Sounds like something straight out of Dr. Seuss book! Although I imagine he would have made it pink, we got the short end of the stick here in the real world. Oh, and the...
  6. Yes, and I completely agree!!! My husband has been picking on me for years about how it is hardly more than television appropriate pornography. I can't get him to see past nekkidness to the actually moving and very socially relevant stories. Maybe I'll put the DVD box set on my Santa wishlist. We're getting snow too. Still coming down and I'm heading...
  7. Not that I don't already, but this is an excellent reminder of my life motto. Every label, every time. I even read my Classico pasta sauce labels even though I *know* they're safe, just in case. This reminds us that just in case may happen one day. This is also very disappointing. My initial reaction is what the hell?! Oh hey, lets take a perfectly good product...
  8. I wash my clothes with my gluten eating husband's clothes and have no problem. I would think twice about this if he worked on any sort of farm, or around any type of flour (I'm super paranoid) but I have seen others who say that with issues such as these or with extreme sensitivities and outdoor animals they simply shed their work clothes in the mud room...
  9. I have tried this in the past. This usually ends with a trip for fast food microwaving a frozen pizza. You know, the staples of single men by which they have learned to get by before being civilized by women. I thought he was a lost cause, but then twice this month I have gotten a baked potato into him. I have also won a few small toddler like battles with...
  10. I managed, on my first attempt, to make a very passable guacamole. I'm so thrilled it doesn't suck. I'm not sure why I spent years doing things like only eating it at Mexican restaurants. It is so easy too, insert avocado and assorted other crap in blender, blend. So I decided after trying some lentil flour and being okay with it that I would being instituting...
  11. The difference in this case is that you had already removed most milk and seemed to be headed down that path. With the symptoms you described, milk seemed to be an obvious culprit. In this case, it is a question of should milk be removed for no apparent reason whatsoever. The answer to that is generally no. Some people feel better. Some don't. I tried to...
  12. I would wet them. Since phyllo dough is wet, I would assume we would need wet wrappers. Although, I think I would butter them, then wet them. Cause it would be easier.
  13. Quite a long while ago I gave up popcorn. I was getting horrible stomach pains when I ate popcorn but couldn't figure out why. I'm still not sure why. I eat lots of corn with no issue. I found a new kind at the store recently and was happy with the ingredient list so I brought it home and popped a bag last night. No pain! Oh... and the flavor? To die for...
  14. I have had great success in the past with converting The Pioneer Woman's recipes. I would just use Open Original Shared Link and use the paper for it. I would of course butter between every layer, not every other. I would also use a round pan for ease. Now that the idea is in my head I have the inkling to go buy a bag of nuts and do this.
  15. I love things like this. I also have a nice stash of squash I haven't quite used up yet. Vegetables that don't feel all in your face but are more comfort food and wintery and palatable when all you want is meat meat and more meat.
  16. The stretch island box sort of looks like the little thing up at the top corner in this link, only it is long and flat at my Costco. Open Original Shared Link The color is the same though and it is always up with the snack foods, things like dried fruit, fruit gummies, things of that sort. I just blew through a box in a month, I don't usually do that. It...
  17. That pic makes my teeth chatter! You guys all look so happy though, yay!!! Apparently the hubs was so thrilled with the fried chicken that he declared we were having it again. I'm gonna be so fat I won't be able to wear my yoga pants and I'll have to drag my fat arse onto my elliptical nekkid.
  18. No. It is a drupe. Having a lot of time on my hands has lead to a vast array of largely useless knowledge.
  19. I shoulda been at your house last night! That sounds sooooo good. We're having a heatwave. It was up to 40 today. I had to go out this afternoon and just wore long sleeves and completely skipped a coat. This is of course following our extremely rare freezing rain storm yesterday. Pork tonight. Pigs are such magical creatures. BBQ loin, mashed taters...
  20. This is the mayo article on food allergies. Open Original Shared Link You mentioned a swollen face, which is what I think set both of us to thinking it was possible. You'll just want to keep alert for any of the additional symptoms that point to it being an allergy as opposed to an intolerance. If it is an intolerance, it sucks, and you want to avoid it,...
  21. I giggled. Not funny that you aren't feeling well, but generally that is what happens with getting got for a lot of people. Feel better soon. My personal policy is that if I'm not washing my hands to the point that I need to go through a metric buttload of lotion to keep from cracking and bleeding, I'm not washing my hands enough.
  22. I have 2 Walmarts within 10 minutes of my house and I have checked every register at both. There are also 2 more Walmarts within 20 minutes and a 5th about half an hour away that my husband is a contractor at. No dice. Naturally it is the flavor they are always out of on their website. I'm surrounded by Walmarts that sell nothing I want! WAAAAAA!!!!!
  23. I tell myself the same thing. I cling to my milk like it is the only thing between me and a complete and total mental breakdown and a fitting with a self-hugging coat. My usual breakfast these days consists of a simple glass of fresh raw milk to be perfectly honest. I sometimes supplement this with fruit, sometimes not. I am not usually a food in the morning...

    ARCHIVED Vacation

You can pack more than just snack, for just in case there isn't somewhere safe to eat. I guess I have it easy on the west coast out here because I have In N Out. If you have a large cooler, you can bring things like fried chicken, fruit salads, and veggies. Probably enough to last two days at least before it gets funky. (Not sure how long you'll be driving...
  25. To be sure to sort out whether it is an allergic type reaction or not. If it isn't, it is entirely normal to have a gluten type reaction to many types of foods. This does not mean it is contaminated with gluten, it means you have an intolerance to that food. It is quite possible that the reason you aren't tolerating any processed foods is because you are...
