  1. In case no one has noticed yet, there are bubble gum flavored peeps this year!!!! OMG, they are so good too. I could eat them by the ton.
  2. I've adopted coconut aminos too. They aren't the same, but they work well in sauces and such. I also don't miss soy, I miss soy sauce! It drives me up a wall that soy is this "healthy" thing so it is everything. At least lecithin doesn't bother me. Yet. I have 3 jars of George left. Friday night my husband brought home Easter George from work. (We figure...
  3. Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like IH is having a blast. Foodie dream for vacation, it sounds positively divine. I got cauliflower in my basket today and I didn't want to do the same old boring crap with it. So I headed to google and found a fun recipe for spicy buffalo cauliflower. I was a little scared but it is super delicious. I made Frank's buffalo...
  4. I get trashed for weeks at a time. Tired, not like "oh I'm sleepy" tired, but the type of tired and fatigue where I literally can't sit up in a chair for 30 straight minutes. I have mental problems, neurological problems, I itch anyway but it gets worse, plus all my bowel issues. I'm sure I'm missing things that I'd remember if they were happening. And this...
  5. What the hell kind of person steals a freakin bike? I'm sorry. And don't be sorry, I'm pretty sure the reactions would be mostly the same most of the way around. Maybe they'll catch the jerk and find your bike.
  6. Woohoo!!! Gotta watch out for those partridges huh?
  7. I'm just trying to avoid the hurt feelings of showing up to help cook and all her pots and pans are nonstick or all her utensils are plastic or she just put a cake in the oven for her kids or she got this or that thing that she is sure is safe that isn't for any various number of reasons which may or may not be gluten related for me. I figure if I try to...
  8. Salads, chicken and roasted potatoes. As long as he doesn't get tired of this potato thing I think I'll just keep them coming.
  9. I'm with Karen, I don't worry about my deodorant. I'm not licking my armpits! But, if you want to know if something is gluten free the best way to get that information is always to contact the company either by calling or emailing.
  10. So after a year I had my first super awkward "I can't come eat dinner at your house" conversation. We have friends who we have had over to dinner a few times. They have a few kids, one in kindergarten and the youngest isn't one yet. Having them over is always a great pleasure and I love cooking for them. The kids aren't too picky and everyone is just great...
  11. Tonight we popped a can of Christmas George (ham) and baked some taters in the microwave and I roasted some asparagus. I even managed gravy for the taters. It took all of 15 minutes to make and was super delicious.
  12. All I did was google how to make a KitchenAid mixer cover when I saw the price of the darn things. I had to borrow a sewing machine.
  13. Wish I could. After the afternoon spent sewing I realize that sewing is not a hobby to take lightly in my future. Really did me in! That corned beef sounds good! I should have thought of getting one. I may take the easy way out and just pick one up at the store and throw it in the crock pot Sunday.
  14. I inherited a new counter in the kitchen. Because it is below the dishes and such that aren't mine, and I am super paranoid, I felt like I needed covers for my appliances before they migrated over. I also wasn't about to spend $50+ on a toaster and mixer cover. Holy crap they're expensive! So, I made my own. This is the fruits of an afternoon of labor. ...
  15. But see, my point is that all this other crap is just piled on because the celiac was undiagnosed for so long. Some days I'm bitter. Mostly though I just try to let it go because there isn't really a damn thing I can do about it except to simply accept my life as it is now and do what I can to make it better. My first "chronic" diagnosis was actually...
  16. This has just lead to a significant outbreak of my language problem. But this is exactly why we need to read every label, every time, no matter what. I missed this in the news somehow, but wouldn't have missed a label change since I always read the label. They better not mess with my ketchup. That is the only brand that doesn't taste like complete crap and...
  17. I was constantly hungry after I went gluten free. This eventually leveled off. I also find that if I get glutened I will be constantly hungry for about 2 or 3 weeks after. I get the most unbearable stomach pains unless I am pretty much always munching away on something. If that happens I try to keep healthy(ish) snacks available so I have something to eat...
  18. I was diagnosed and went gluten free in January of last year. At this point I am still fighting with a doctor to get anyone to test me for Addison's. (I'm always nauseous, my hair is falling out, I could pretty much eat salt from a spoon and still want more, my blood pressure is on the low side of normal and I feint walking into air conditioning, getting...
  19. I'm neurotic about labels. I still read the label on my Classico pasta sauce when I buy it. I know we all know that it is perfectly safe, but what if it stops being safe. I mean, how would I know. And yes, I'm the same way with everything with a label. Cheese? Check. Sour cream? Double check. (Have you ever seen the amount of crap in some brands? Holy crap...
  20. Today I managed something resembling a real lunch. A chicken and mushroom quesadilla and mango coconut jasmine rice pudding. I figure since its rice, it doesn't technically count as a sweet. Right?
  21. Puppies are so great! He sounds like quite that perfect little guy. Glad to know you didn't end up freezing into a popsicle or something.
  22. I've wondered about her too. I think maybe she hasn't had a chance to thaw out yet and is just a popsicle up there in the frozen tundra she calls home?
  23. I poked around enough to find some burgers in the freezer to make tonight. I must have made an impression at some point on my husband because he texted me from work and asked if I could make butter and garlic roasted potatoes tonight. I know they're just lowly potatoes, but he asked for a vegetable! I also found a really simple roasted bok choy recipe I think...
  24. It is wild caught. I don't know where from, but wild from somewhere. That was all it took to sell me. Also, I live in Utah. The only fresh fish we get that doesn't suck is from the lakes here. It is shipped all over so you may very well find it near you once you get your corn back.
  25. Ok, so this whole getting up early on Saturdays thing? I could get used to this. I just discovered Bountiful Baskets which is a west(ish) food co-op thingy for fruits and veggies. I was super skeptical since there is so much I can't eat. (I'm still worried about spinach season.) For $15 I got two entire reusable shopping bags full of fruits and veggies. Bananas...
