  1. Ener-G white bread. *the fda needs to investigate* Nana's cookies are useless. Larabars- could bring down the "raw" movement.
  2. Would you call the dr and get the specifice results to list here. I'm not well informed for immediate comments on the numbers, but some of the folks here are. They know exactly what they're talking about! Is your diet limited? Or have you found all of the great gluten free products there are? Only one of my three children has celiac disease. However...
  3. Whenever you oder fries, you have to ask if the fryer is a "dedicated fryer". They'll probably look at you like you have three heads. Nevermind. Ask them if they cook any breaded products AT ALL...ANY>> in the fryer. This will "contaminate" your fries. Most places DO fry their breaded chicken, breaded onions, etc in the french fry oil. That could...
  4. Are you really freaked out by the dx? It's ok. It won't be that bad once you find the foods you can eat. Outback Steakhouse has a gluten free menu!! We've eaten out there dozens of times. You can download it, or just go to the restaurant and ask for their gluten free menu.

  6. A good place to start is imo, the parents of kids with celiac message board. So many parents show up needing help immediately to feed their child and people post away about what to feed the kids. You can find a lot there. Also the gluten free products board, of course. Just get cozy tonight in front of your computer and start browsing through the boards...
  7. Here are some to get you started. Classico sauces- all are gluten free. Even the white creamy alfredo. Old El Paso Taco sauce and shells! Post Fruity Pebbles/cocoa pebbles corn burrito wraps *heat w/pat butter ea side to soften to flour consistency fill w/eggs/bacon/ham/omlettes/etc.... kraft Velveeta blocks of cheese for mac and cheese...
  8. I totally agree with the allergy/intolerance issue. The wording is important, the meaning is not interchangeable. I would like to point out, though, that you are teaching people the difference at those moments. You wouldn' t yell at a child who couldn't grasp what you're trying to explain. Try to think of the uninformed out there as little children...
  9. Order Kinnikinnick breads on line. www.kinnikinnick.com White tapicoa bread is good. The bagels are good. The donuts are good. Lightly toast to remove moisture. Will stay great until he eats them. My child goes to school with his and they're fine. Sandwiches that are full of calories will keep him going the longest. Target sells great thermos...
  10. Ok. From what I've understood from your posts, your child has a problem. You think it may be C.D. Do you understand the Celiac diet? Do you realize that even a tiny, tiny, crumb of gluten can cause a reaction that will last several days, at best and damage his villi? If you really want to see the positive effects of a gluten free diet (weight gain, for...
  11. aren't the tests for D.H. reliable despite age? In any case, this dr sounds on the verge of malpractice if he's telling you .... nothing .... really. Is he trying to cover his ineptitude with a bunch of crazy talk? I had to print out info from this site when my kid was dx 4 years ago. I called the dr and told him what I suspected was killing my child...
  12. How could the dr rule out Celiac Disease if he didn't test for it? People can be gluten sensitive and not experience damage to the villi. People with C.D. experience flattening of the villi in the small intestine. As far as I know, Gluten intollerance is Celiac Disease. I've heard of wheat allergy, but not gluten allergy. I could be wrong.
  13. I believe lysine suppliments help mouth sores heal faster. I've seen it advertised for herpes mouth sores, but I have friends who swear they are fantastic for canker sores.
  14. You should take care to maintain your new diet. For one thing, it's not that difficult once you've taken some time to find out what you can eat. Dedicate a couple of hours tonight to go through the Parents of kids w/celiac section of this message board. There are lots of great posts telling newbies what they can eat....did you know Post Fruitty Pebbles...
  15. Hey, thanks! I'll give it a try. Wait, is it soy? I'm on a rampage against soy. Open Original Shared Link Here's the link everyone's gotta be getting sick of.
  16. The mesquite flour is more of a spice. I made the chicken and apple baked dinner that's listed in the recipe link above... well, it was great. And I was thinking, that the flavor seemed different than when mixed with the chebe bread. It's very strong, very sweet and very good. It's so sweet, you can eat it plain. My kids kept dipping their fingers in...
  17. You can have variations in your ana for multiple reasons. It does not indicate a definite dx of anything. That is good news all by itself. You MAY indeed have a condition that is causing the ana results to be high...but you MAY not. Until you have clear proof of a real problem, consider all meds they may begin offering you. Medications cause a whole...
  18. You can make "hot pockets" with Chebe the night before. Roll it flat, put cheese, ham, etc in the middle, pinch it closed and bake. Bring it to school and either heat it in the micro for a few seconds, or eat it cold. We also put chopped pepperoni and mozzerella in chebe bread and make Pizza sticks. Make those at home, bring them to school with a...
  19. We made the cinnamon chebe with 2tbl of the Mesquite. I added an additional 1/2 tablespoon of applesauce. They are so good. Wow-good. I'd love to spread some cream cheese all over them...but I'm dairy free The flavor is as good as any cinnamon flavored bagel out there. I tried this chebe a few weeks ago and liked it, but we all REALLY like it now...
  20. I was recently tested neg for celiac disease as were two of my kids. However, I also just read the book Dangerous Grains. We all went gluten free. My husband doesn't want to be 100% gluten-free, so he's still dabbling in gluten. Oh well, he's a grown-up. He can decide for himself! I would recommend you read Dangerous grains. If you've felt even slightly...
  21. I hear you. My life was dominated by dr appts for the first three years of my son's life. Now, the drs we see don't even want to discuss his celiac. It's a complete Non-issue. They can offer me nothing now that he's dx and gluten free.
  22. Ruby Ridge has flour mixes in addition to the straight up Mesquite flour. I got the 16 oz bag of mesquite flour from www.Lame Advertisement.com I didn't get a flour mix, so I only use a couple of tbsps at a time. I think it will last a long time. If you already have gluten-free flours around your home, you shouldn't need the flour mixes. You can use...
  23. Well, I got the mighty expensive mesquite flour and I have to say...I'm not a baker, but it's really a neat addition to my foods. It's sweet and chocolatey. I added some to a whipped, iced coffee and it was great. I added the suggested 2 tbsps to pancake mix and it was very good. But I want to try the chicken and baked apples with Mesquite tomorrow for...
  24. I really thought the minis were gluten full....Must have been a mini milky way?
  25. Doctor's don't know everything. We're brainwashed to believe they do, though. Thank God for the internet! We can all be specialist in what ails us or our children!
