  1. You're right about the Hypothyroid part. I think that will all the problems soy causes, that they're only now just starting to take serious note of, it's best not to mess with it. The fact is, soy disrupts thyroid function. It may someday be proven that 100% of the time--for every person--, this leads to gaining weight. But every individual is different...
  2. Steve- You have a very "Atkins" style of eating right now. Meat roll-ups for lunch are very Atkins style. The bread will increase your calories and your carbs. You need to do both to gain weight. Also, water all day is usually great, but you're looking to put on some weight. You should cut your water consumption in half and start having some drinks...
  3. This will make you fat....it made my husband fat-- Breakfastmany eggs any style lots of bacon gluten-free toast (butter may be ok even if lactose intolerant, was for my son) Juice (coffee too, but juice will boost calories) LunchTuna salad/chicken salad, cold cuts/peanut butter whatever, on a gluten-free Kinnikinnick bagel *have you seen how many...

  7. Warning, warning! I was right the first time! That second link just names the dorito variety....Blah! That second link had nothing to do with gluten free.
  8. Open Original Shared Link I'm wrong. Here's another link to more varieties of D's.
  9. Open Original Shared Link My kid has never had Doritos, so I was concerned when I saw them mentioned. Here's a link to what's gluten free from fritolay. It seems there are two versions of doritos that are gluten free. I know the red bag isn't gluten-free. It says wheat right on the package. To the original poster: You have internet access...
  10. The book Dangerous Grains is really good. It's written in a very readable style. The authors talk about the health consequences of undiagnosed Celiac/gluten sensitivity. Aggravating your immune system with little accidents can have devastating effects. It's good you're going to be more vigilant with your children's diets.
  11. Dear husband...
  12. Here are a few more for the regular grocery store: Bush's baked beans Old El Paso Taco sauce. I pour the mild over the ground beef after it's browned La Choy soy sauce for chinese food Rice cakes, read flavored varieties Corn starch to make gravy and thicken stews *I didn't think of that for 4yrs! olives pickles Kraft dressings will be clearly marked...
  13. Went through my pantry.... Velveeta cheese is gluten free. Makes mac and cheese with the Tinkyada pasta. Manwich Sloppy Joe sauce is gluten free, mixed with chopped beef over noodles or rice or on bread. French toast with Kinnikinnick Craisins Tuna fish chicken salad Breyer's Ice cream (check for malt) deviled eggs Juice pops Kool-Aid Potato...
  14. You don't need to buy all or even most of your foods from a *health food store*. Many products in your local store are gluten-free and you can use coupons for those items. Infact, if you weren't a big coupon user in the past, buy a Sunday paper tomorrow and start clipping. The money you save on your entire grocery bill can be applied to the specialty items...
  15. The kinnikinnick donuts may seem expensive, but a two year old only needs half a donut. These are thick, filling donuts. So she'll get twice the donuts per bag. A half a donut, a banana and a glass of milk for breakfast should be a challenge to consume. The breads, combined with the shipping costs from Kinnikinnick seem daunting, but remember, this is...
  16. Shoot, if nuts don't fill you up it MUST be psychological. Seriously, most of the foods you listed are very low in protien, so you can eat a lot without getting the "I'm full" signal. Try eating hard-boiled eggs and see if your full mechinism is working. I think you'll find it is.
  17. I'm going to make "The Gluten Stops Here" shirt over at CafePress.com What a clever slogan.

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

Okaaay. Found you over in the non-celiac going gluten free thread. Gotcha now. I can't believe you so passionately consider what everyone else will think of your personal choices *legal, harmful to no one personal choices* that you wait from 1998 until 2004 to begin a gluten free diet, then spend a year not telling anyone out of fear of "what they'll think...

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

**** "So far, I've been gluten-free since September 2004-although I wanted to be since 1998, but feared such a choice would be immoral without medical cause. The only person in my life who knows about it, is the celiac friend who I feared would want nothing to do with me because of what I've done-which turned out to be a completely unfounded fear." ...
  20. I can see where you son picked up his inability to deal with dietary restrictions. Pitiful goodbye posts don't enhance your status as a victim.
  21. Maija, he's not too young to understand. "easier on him and everybody else" Hey, who's running the show in that house? "Introduce him" to gluten free foods....better do it quickly. He has celiac disease and needs to eat today. And price aside, what she's doing is unncessary. Hey, she can afford it, she has the time for it...great. Let's not...
  22. It's not your child's fault *he's scared*. It's your responsibility to assit him with dealing with his auto immune disease. If he's scared of food at 19 months of age, you need to fix that issue, not avoid it by running $10 tests every 2-3 weeks on a Danimals product. I am also wealthy enough to do most of what I'm so inclined to do. However, this...
  23. Here are some regular food store items that are gluten free.... Corn tortilla wraps are usually gluten-free and found in regular food stores. If you heat them with a little butter on each side, they soften up and have the texture of the flour tortillas. We use them for bacon, egg and cheese burritos. Add whatever your child likes. You can also use...
  24. Do you think you are having gluten accidents? Are you POSITIVE you're eating gluten-free? Maybe you should simplify your diet for one entire month and eat NOTHING complicated (simple ingredients you are SURE are gluten-free). See if you feel better doing that. If you do- reevaluate your past food choices. Look for unknown gluten. If you feel just as...
  25. WOW! That's dedication or something else. Since you posted, I'd like to throw in my 2cents worth of opinion. You may find my opinion of even less value than that-feel free to disagree. However, some people need to live in the real world, so for them as well as for you, I say this: I don't think it's necessary to run tests on Danimals drinkable yogurts...
