  1. The Pizza flavored Glutino Breadsticks are good with shredded mozzerella cheese, baked in the oven with a side of spaghetti sauce. That's what my son has on Pizza night.
  2. Open Original Shared Link I got lost following links Bean posted and eventually ended up looking at a brand of Almond Milk....thinking of replacing my milk. Anyway, this product says gluten free but lists barley malt in the ingreds. There's no such thing as gluten-free barley malt is there? I wouldn't have asked this 2 weeks ago, but since posting here...
  3. www.josefsglutenfree.com I hate spending money on products/shipping only to find the stuff tastes bad. Has anyone ordered from these guys? The jelly roll and the chocolate roll looked devine .
  4. Yes. I want them! I'm going to go to the book store today.... I know no one in my "real life" who shares my facination with diet and health. I love talking with people who carry on a conversation I'm interested in to areas I didn't know existed when I began yapping. It's so fun here.
  5. Thanks for the input/suggestions. I'm still not sure if I should remove all grains from my family's diet. I've got to go get those two books you all mentioned here. I guess my problem is, if grains are bad, why would I continue to consume them or allow my family to consume them? Out of convenience? I don't think so. So, I'm trying to establish whether...
  6. Following is the gluten-free listing for all of our products, as you requested. If the product you asked about is not on this list, then it is not considered gluten-free. HEINZ PRODUCTS: Ketchup One Carb Ketchup No Sodium Added Ketchup Hot & Spicy Kick'rs EZ Marinader -- Teriyaki Distilled White Vinegar ...
  7. I think baked lays contain gluten?? I never let my son get those because one time I thought there was gluten. I never triple check myself, so I could be wrong. Am I?
  8. I do. Bring your own food. You can bring food into the park for the people with Celiac. Other than that, you can leave your food in a cooler in your car. You can exit the park to "tailgate" if you get your hand stamped. I wouldn't eat anything prepared by the college kids working at legoland! They don't understand the whole Gluten thing, and if you...
  9. You said she was eating the dairy a LOT. Maybe it was just more than she can handle. My son needed to be dairy free for 9 months after being diagnosed with Celiac. We tried a little dairy at 6 months, but he wasn't healed yet. Sometimes certain dairys are the problem. Maybe she can handle hard cheeses but not whole milk. Considering what you wrote,...
  10. Someone here mentioned a book called Dangerous Grains. I was looking at bits of it and reviews on Amazon, and it looked really good. Has anyone read it? I've been considering putting my whole family on a gluten-free diet as a result of all this info coming at me about how gluten grains aren't good for anyone. Is this a fact, or do you think it's the hype...
  11. Geez, this is making me remember when my son was diagnosed. He'd just turned three and he'd been in writhing pain for 2months. It was awful. I never want to revisit those days again!
  12. We're a family of 5 and only one celiac in the bunch. It's never been an issue and I'm thinking, as I read all these posts, I'd have lost my mind if I'd been gluten dust and crumb challenged on a daily basis the way some of you describe! Cleaning out cabinets and walls and silverware drawers! Suzy Homemaker I am NOT! My son has two shelves in the pantry...
  13. Open Original Shared Link AH-HA! I found out that it is!! Yum. This opens up some tasty avenues.
  14. Is this gluten free? It doesn't seem to have any gluten words in the ingreds. It says dairy, egg, soy for allergens. Does anyone know? I called but they're closed for the day and I was thinking of serving this tonight if it is gluten-free.
  15. Ok. This is not crazy...it's totally true. I was using Corningware or Pyrex...The big clear glass, lasagna type of tray in the oven. I took it out of the oven, put it on the counter and the thing BLEW UP. Shattered into a hundred million pieces. I'd turned around to close the oven door, otherwise I'd have gotten a face full of shards of glass. My kids...
  16. I use a little Ajax to get the burnt on Pam off. Anyway, QVC that tv shopping channel, aways touts their "Cooks Essentials" line of cookware as the best on the whole damn planet. It is NON-STICK. They also have a 30 day money back guarentee which I've tested *not on pots*, but they're very reputable. You could purchase a single Cooks Essentials pot from...
  17. Which on line shopping sites do you recommend for your gluten-free needs? I've found I have to shop at three sites in order to get all my son's favorite items. The on line shopping I do is to suppliment the THREE stores I have to actually go into on foot. It can really get to a person after awhile. Each store I visit whether on line or outdoors, has something...
  18. It only says "Wheat Free", but the ingredients are: Chocolate, butter, eggs, sugar, raspberries. This is the fourth time I've bought it for my son *though he lets me have some*, and he's never reacted to it. It's really good, but tortes like this are easy to make. There are tons of flourless chocolate torte recipes on the net. Some are easy, some are...
  19. Why do you need non-stick?? I use the stainless steel by Bella Cuisine. Nothing sticks once you spray Pam all over it. I've had them for yeeeeaaarrs and I expect I'll have them til I'm dead. Nothing peels. I worry about chemicals in non-stick pots and pans, *apparently not many people care about that issue* so I don't recommend them to anyone. Plus...
  20. Thanks for the links. I emailed the writer about the correct definition of Celiac. That's one way to fix the problem!
  21. I was prescribed xanax a few years ago after a panic attack. It was great in that it relieved my anxiety and within two weeks, I stopped taking it. However, I had a "rare allergic" reaction to it. I had debilitaing joint pain throughout my entire body for 4 months. *Words would not do the debilitating nature of that pain justice* __ Allergic reations...
  22. I really liked the articles, especially The Answer. It was compelling reading for anyone, not just Celiacs. Anyway, I'm curious why there are no credentials listed for the Dogtor. He mentioned having attended a good college and assured the reader that he is a professional. I'm just feeling the lack of specifics in THAT area.
  23. What are they made out of? I get worried about chemicals cooking into my food with all of these types of products. I threw out my non-stick cookware 8 years ago when I read chemicals from the teflon coating seep into your food during cooking. Am I paranoid? Seriously, do you think those little fire resistant baggies are likely to heat sear toxins...
  24. Ok. I read the first link and followed by reading "The Answer". I liked what I read and appreciated all the research that guy must have had to do in order to back up what he thinks is going on in our diets. Personally, I preferred "The Answer". I'm thinking this all through and may decide to eliminate dairy altogether in the future. I have that feeling...
  25. Does it bother anyone else when Celiac Disease is called an allergy? I was clicking through those articles posted by everyone in the previous topic and some of the headlines used "allergy". Is it an essential or important distinction to get accurate? You know, between an allergy and an intolerance? Am I being too picky? This is really my only pet peeve...
