  1. I started getting really sick in March '05, and was diagnosed in June '05. I don't remember if the holiday food made me feel really bad last year or not.
  2. I was just wondering if you were told to stay away from dairy initially. My GI told me at my 6 month check-up that I would most likely be lactose intolerant until I am all healed. Anyone else have the same experience?
  3. I'd like it too - carriecraig@gmail.com Zipped is fine with me.
  4. JerseyAngel, did you get a response back from Elisabeth? Did she confirm that she has Celiac?
  5. Huh, never made a connection, but my cycle has been out of whack for a few years, even while on the pill. I get spotting almost every month, and now that I've been gluten-free, I've had major mood swings and cramps.
  6. I had my follow-up endoscppy 2 weeks ago, and the news wasn't good - I'm not healing as well as my doctor had hoped. I'm going to go back to the basics, chicken and steamed veggies, but can you suggest things for breakfast and lunch? I've been eating rice cakes with peanut butter for breakfast, and leftovers for lunch.
  7. If any of you live in NYC, and need a great GI, I would highly recommend mine. His name is Dr. George, and I can't say enough great things about him. He's at 81st and York, kind of out of the way, but it's worth it, and besides, it's right around the corner from the ASPCA! PM me if you'd like more informaiton on him.
  8. Before I was dx'd, my weight was pretty much the same as it had been for years (+/- 5 lbs). After going gluten-free, I lost 10 lbs almost immediately, and am the lightest I've been since college.
  9. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups Snickers
  10. Does anyone know if there is a link between Psoriasis and Celiac? I've always has blotches on my scalp, and a few spots have sprouted on my body, but I use body lotion everyday, so those seem to go away. My father has severe Psoriasis all over his body, and I'm wondering if he may have Celiac and not know it.
  11. I too drink a lot of water, and am always thirsty. I always just assumed that it was my asthma and allergy medication.
  12. I've definitely had problems with stomach aches, D, yeast infections, always tired and hungry, brain fog, and it had gotten worse over the last couple of years. In 2002, I got engaged, planned a wedding in 8 months, got married in April 2003, and moved to NYC in June 2003. Over the summer of 2004, I jumped on the million-grain bandwagon (after doing...
  13. BK - I know exactly how you are feeling. I was dx'd in June, and then started feeling better almost instantly after going gluten-free. Now it's been 6 months and I am still having D every day a couple of times. Come to find out, some the of medicines, hair/face products, foods I was using contain gluten. I've gone back and eliminated all of those things...
  14. Congrats on your job, that's great! When I was first DX, I brought a lot of salads, and bought gluten-free bread and made sandwiches. I also went a little crazy and bought food online - bagels, pizza crusts, english muffins, snacks. Now, I like to make food on Sunday, and bring it with me for a few days - cold peanut noodles, veggie salads, pasta (Notta...
  15. I wanted to thank all of you who posted about Acidophilus to help with yeast infections. I bought some on Monday, and by yesterday, I didn't notice any itching whatsoever. I bought mine at GNC, and it was in the probiotic section - what else will this help with?
  16. I think that once your daughter is gluten-free for a while, and then eats something with gluten in it, she will feel aweful. This will show her that even the slightest thing will make her sick. Good luck!
  17. elonwy - I wish I could say that we still had the kitten. We were just foster mommy and daddy to him for 2 months. We got him when we was 3-4 weeks old - so cute! He grew and changed so much, and learned a lot while we had him, but he wasn't getting along with our other cat, so we returned him. I'm happy to say that he was adopted less then a week later...
  18. Ha, my husband teases me all of the time about bread. He loves to ask if I want any when we are in a restaurant or at the store. So glad he can get a laugh.
  19. For those who were positively diagnosed with celiac disease through endoscopy: I'm just wondering how many of you had a follow-up endoscopy to see how well you were doing/healing with being gluten-free? Is it really needed?
  20. Well, after being almost 6 months gluten-free, I'm feeling much better, but not completely well yet. In the beginning I was so good with my eating - only had 1 slip up, and within weeks I felt great. So, after posting about BMs and gas, I realized that there are a lot of products that I'm still using that are not gluten-free. For instance: Beano, Rolaids...
  21. I just signed up at Open Original Shared Link for future trials. I'll keep you posted. Looking forward to what happens at the trials this weekend.
  22. Thanks everyone. I just wanted to clarify, I don't have D 5x times a day (any longer, thank god), my BM's are just soft. I'm going to go dairy-free for a while, and I'm changing all of my hair/make-up products (only ones that I can find that are not gluten-free). Hopefully one of these things will do the trick.
  23. Hi Ladies, I just did a live chat through the Oil of Olay website, and found out great news, here is the chat session: Alice: Hi, my name is Alice. How may I help you with Olay ? Carrie: Hi Alice: How are you doing today, Carrie Carrie: I was recently diagnosed with an allergy to Gluten (wheat, barley, oats) Alice: ok Carrie: I need to remove it...
  24. I know that each person is different, but I wanted to find out if anyone else has this problem: I was diagnosed with celiac disease in June and have been gluten-free ever since (except for 1 slip-up). I am still going to the bathroom at least 4 times a day, and each of them are extremely loose. I also have pretty bad gas in the morning, and have to make...
  25. A friend of mine cute out an article that was in the New York Times Metro section today on a Gluten-Free bakery in the Lower East Side. Open Original Shared Link A friend of mine who has Celiac is coming up in 2 weeks, and we are going to go to Risotteria and then I will take him here, so we can try it out. I'll let you all know my review.
