ARCHIVED Ok, I Gotta Ask This...carriecraig replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My hair thinned, I was pale, and I looked like I was 3 months pregnant all of the time, so I would say I definitely look different then I do now. I've been gluten-free for almost a year, and my hair and nails are healthy, my color is back, and I've lost 10+ lbs.

Hi, Does anyone know if the noodles that Thai places use are gluten-free or not? I've asked about Lo Mein, and know those are regular wheat noodles, but I wasn't sure about pad thai. Thanks!

I went on the NCL Spirit out of NYC at the end of February this year. Here is my reply to another post: Hi! I just got back from a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line on March 5th, and I had the greatest experience. We decided to go at the last minute (within 3 weeks of sailing), and I just went through my travel agent to get the contact info of the coordinator...

ARCHIVED Faintingcarriecraig replied to Beccc's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I started a post last week Open Original Shared Link: I do get dizzy quite often, and have only fainted once - this only happens when I've ingested something with gluten in it. Once you are on the gluten-free diet, you will feel so much better, and a lot of your symptoms will go away.

ARCHIVED How Careful Do I Need To Be?carriecraig replied to marcia24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms In the beginning, my husband ate his gluten foods, but then he couldn't eat a whole loaf of bread by himself, so decided not to bother anymore. I also made the mistake a few times of licking my finger out of habit when I touched something of his with gluten in it - a hard habit to break. We buy/make naturally gluten-free food like chicken, chili, soups...

ARCHIVED Just Ate Something With Gluten In Itcarriecraig posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Uuuggghhh, I was doing so well for a couple of months. No issues with gluten items, or even CC. It seems like lately, I have been on a bad streak. I got glutened so badly on Saturday, that I thre up and fainted. I just got finished with lunch, and realized there was hidden gluten in my chicken salad. I filled up my water bottle, took some immodium...

ARCHIVED Breakfast, gluten-free, Low Carb, High Protein, Ideas Neededcarriecraig replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I keep a small pantry of food at my desk so I can just grab something when I get hungry. For my mid-morning snack, I love to have a rice cake (peanut butter choc are the best) and put peanut butter on them. Delish. I also have fruit, lays stax, and EnerG pretzels. Thanks for starting this thread, it has given me a lot more ideas.

ARCHIVED Natures Made Mutli Daily Vitcarriecraig replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Hi - I take the Nature Made Once Daily vitamin for Her, and it clearly states on the label that it is gluten-free.

ARCHIVED Yasmincarriecraig replied to Kiki's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Yes, Yasmin is gluten-free. I take it, and have for a few years, and have had no problems with it. It makes my periods lighter too which is nice.

ARCHIVED Prilosec Forevercarriecraig replied to penguin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Hmmm, I don't like the sound of that! I really think more people are becoming aware of the disease, and it is finally getting diagnosed. I hope you feel better soon...

ARCHIVED Fainted On Saturdaycarriecraig replied to carriecraig's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Thanks ladies. When I came to, my poor cat was standing outside of the bathroom door looking freaked out, and genuinely concerned for me. I really hope this is the last of those reactions that I have. And just when I was doing really well - WHAM - I get slammed by CC... Now I get to look forward to a week of fogginess, dizziness, nausea, and feeling...

ARCHIVED Fainted On Saturdaycarriecraig posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Good Morning everyone, It's been a while since I've been on the board - I just started a new job, and have limited time while at work. On Saturday, around 10:15 PM or so, my stomach started cramping. It was mild at first, and then became a constant rumble. So, I went into the bathroom and all hell broke loose. I was in there a good 20 minutes...

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselhoff - The Viewcarriecraig replied to Lisa's topic in Publications & Publicity I have to agree with the others - Angelina Jolie is gross. I love Elisabeth - ever since she was on Survivor. She's from RI, and we have mutual friends who went to BC. Sorry, I have to whole heartedly disagree with you on the fact that she's faking Celiac. That's one thing I don't think anyone would do - unless they need a lot of attention, and have...

ARCHIVED Dunkin Donuts/baskin Robbinscarriecraig replied to amybeth's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Sorry that you had a reaction to DD. I like to have an occasional iced coffee in the summer and have never had a problem. I even contacted them regarding their lattes, and they are gluten-free, which was nice to hear.

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselhoff - The Viewcarriecraig replied to Lisa's topic in Publications & Publicity Just an FYI - it's Elisabeth Hasselbeck, not Hasselhoff.

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good At All?carriecraig replied to Carolita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have been gluten free for 10 months now, and feel great. No more bloating, 10 trips to the bathroom a day, severe stomach cramps; my hair no longer falls out in clumps, and I don't have to eat every hour to get rid of my constant hunger pangs. Good luck, and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

ARCHIVED Another Pizza Party At Workcarriecraig replied to lpellegr's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants My last company brought in a cake for everyones bday, had pizza or subs brought in almost every week it seemed. I loved it before I was diagnosed - yeah, I didn't have to bring a lunch. Once diagnosed, I just decided not to sit with everyone while they were eating so I didn't get the comments - "Oh, I would die if I could eat pizza, beer, pasta, etc." ...

ARCHIVED Asthmacarriecraig replied to slpinsd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I was diagnosed with Asthma around 3 or 4, at the same time they did my allergy testing. My mother was a smoker until I was about 6 or 7, and think the asthma and allergies are related to that, not Celiac. I didn't have severe Celiac symptoms until I was 28, and was diagnosed right before my 29th birthday. However, I do see a connection to flare-ups...

ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed With Celiaccarriecraig replied to odcdinah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hi and welcome to you too! It is very overwhelming at first, and this messageboard can help answer a lot of your questions. I started feeling better after a couple of months on the gluten-free diet. I'd say by a year, I will be completely healed, and feeling like I did before my Celiac diagnosis.

Hi, and welcome! Look forward to speaking with you through this board.

I love Thai food - but I love spicy food too. If you want something mild, I would suggest Pad Thai. It's noodles with chicken, shrimp, tofu or veggies. Their signature dish, and it's good almost everywhere you get it. Have fun!

Hi Nicole, Welcome! Glad you were feeling better, but like most of us, you've been glutened. Feeling better will vary from person to person, but I think within the next couple of days you will be there. Just drink herbal tea, eat bland foods, and drink lots of water. Feel better soon!
