  1. I too am often quite cold. It seems to have subsided a bit since I've been gluten-free, and sometimes I am warmer then my husband! Which is a first. I just figured that I had poor circulation, but who knows if it was another wonderful trait of celiac disease.
  2. I wrote to Johnson's to find out which of their lotions were gluten-free - here is their response: Dear Mrs. Craig: Thank you for contacting the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. Information Center. It is always important to hear from our consumers, and we appreciate the time you have taken to contact us. In regards to your inquiry...
  3. Thanks Karen!
  4. I went out to lunch today with a co-worker to a really great Thai restaurant in NYC. I ordered Chicken with Basil (which I've eaten without probelms), and when I received it, there was a spring roll on the plate. Well, I took it off my plate, and gave it on my co-worker - and without thinking, I licked my fingers! Oh, stupid me! Now I'm paying for it...
  5. I keep seeing things about this. I was breastfed, and I am the only one in my family with Celiac. Don't see the connection there.
  6. Mysti, don't be so hard on yourself. This is very frustrating I know - my dh and I have been doing this for 7 months now, and I still wonder what I can eat everyday. I try to buy as little specialized gluten-free food as I can, and just go to the regular grocery store and buy mainstream foods that are naturally gluten-free. Fruits, veggies, potatoes, chicken...
  7. I have reactions to eating a high fat meal - everything goes right through me, and have bouts of D.
  8. I just went on the website, and I don't see the video. What is the description next to the link?
  9. Hi Ehrin, and welcome. My dh does that to me too, but he's just giving me a hard time.
  10. Karen, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I once read that the worst thing in the world for digestion and your system is drinking ice-cold water. Since then, I have avoided it as much as possible. At work we have a H2O fountain, and I always add a little bit of hot water to my cold water, to warm it up a bit.
  11. I always say, if you had the reaction to it like I do, you would never, ever eat it again, no matter how much you think you can't live without it.
  12. Dove shampoo & conditioner, Johnsons Softlotion with oil (the only one that is gluten-free)
  13. Stomach cramps, diarreah, nausea
  14. I would absolutely take a pill for the times when I want a bagel, or a slice of pizza. Sort of like taking Lactaid before consuming dairy. I don't think I would go back to my old eating habits, but being able to indulge every once in a while would be great.
  15. Positive bloodwork Positive biopsy
  16. My niece is selling the cookies, and she asked my DH and if we want some. Oh, it was so heartbreaking that I can't eat them, but my DH got 2 boxes for himself. It's his reward for making me gluten-free cookies all of the time.
  17. Before I was diagnosed, I was so hungry all of the time, even though I was eating at least 6 small meals a day. I was eating more then my husband who is almost 2x my weight. When eating gluten, your body isn't absorbing an nutirents, so it craves more food to try and compensate. When i get glutened now, I am really hungry for about a week after it...
  18. I've been "gluten-free" for over 6 months now, and I've had a glutening incedent as recently as a few weeks ago. Hang in there, it will get easier. You'll get better at reading labels, and will know what is safe and will be able to stick to staples.
  19. My dad has psoriasis
  20. I believe a few months back there was an article on celiac in Glamour (or similar) - it was great to see it in a national magazine. I'll have to dig to find the actual article and magazine...
  21. I've gotten this one too, from my DM. She also like to buy me gluten-free things when I go home, but the last time, she bought me something that was wheat free, and not gluten free. The first ingredient was barley flour. Oh well, at least she's trying.
  22. I was the first to reply... What a jerk. And to answer your question, the majority of those with Celiac are women.

I agree - I'm probably just going to go back for my 1 year check-up, and be done with it. As long as I know I'm feeling better, then I know I'm not getting gluten from anywhere.
  24. I actually either read this somewhere, or saw it on the news. I was so excited. I used to work in Needham, MA and go their all of the time before my Dx. Can't wait to go back now!!!
  25. Thanks, I just sent you an email for the PDF.
