  1. I went to my PCP at first, who diagnosed me with IBS, and to eat bland foods - toast, graham crackers, etc. After a couple of weeks of not feeling any better, I knew it wasn't IBS and went to see my GI. Just by telling him my symptoms, he pretty much diagnosed me on the spot. I had the blood test that day, and he also did some fecal testing to rule out...
  2. We use Bob's Redmill, and it has been pretty good. My husband has made me macaroons and chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!
  3. Thanks so much Patti. I'm actually taking the advice from the board (seems like there's a like of "glutenings" this week), and I'm drinking sprite (thank Jenvan) and peppermint tea. I do feel better, and I'm hoping that by tomorrow, this will be all over...
  4. You know, I feel the same way. Like I said in my last post, I got glutened today, but the reaction has not been as bad as it was when I was eating gluten all of the time. I always suspected it would be worse. I guess we'll see how I feel tomorrow though.
  5. Ok, as I tell more and more people about having Celiac, I keep getting the same question, and now I'm beginning to wonder: will cross contamination hurt me as much as eating a slice of pizza, or having bread? I know that any amount of gluten will do damage, but I'm wondering if the portion of gluten that is consumed has different affects?
  6. They can put you completely out if you ask for it. My doctor starts with this, and if I wanted a local I could have had it, but I opted for being out completely. It only takes about 15 mins or so, and the nap is so nice!
  7. Here is the response that I received from Ken's: List of Products in Retail that do NOT have Gluten present in their recipes We do not consider any of our products completely Gluten Free because even though our lines are cleaned daily there is a minute possibility that something could get through. However, the list below are products that DO NOT...
  8. I just want to scream - I got glutened on Emeril's sausage last night, and I'm pretty sure there was a cross contamination issue with my egg white omlet that I got from Guy & Gullard this morning. Also, I made chicken and rice with a base of ceasar salad dressing, and just found out that it is not gluten-free (Ken's steak house - and they have it right...
  9. Uuuggghhh - I know how you feel. I got glutened last night, and am not feeling well today. It takes about a day of feeling horrible, and running to the bathroom up to 6 times, and the next day it is gone. At my 6 month check-up, my doctor said that any sort of gluten can set you back up to 4 months. Really, really awful news. I do find that immodium...
  10. I eat Lays Staxx and their other chips without any problems. They even have a new line out - kettle cooked which I got at Target, and are yummy!
  11. I went to a Chilis in RI this weekend, and had a great experience. I just explained to my waitress about my food allergy, and she went and spoke to the cook. The food was great (and so were the margaritas! )!
  12. I think I've heard that Ibuprofen (Advid, Motrin, etc) is bad for people with stomach problems. Have you heard the same thing? Do you take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for aches, pains, cramps?
  13. I'm only avoiding dairy for the time being - and I can't wait until I can bring it back into the mix of food. I'm doing this now because my doctor said it would be better to avoid it until I am healed. Also, from June to November, I didn't drink any alcohol. This was just a personal choice, and thought it would help with recovery, but Dr. said it wasn...
  14. Lorraine, thanks so much for the advice! We live and breathe gluten free, and sometimes forget that not everyone know what it is.
  15. Yes, this also happens to me. I was really depressed before I was dx'd, and lashing out on my poor husband. It also happens when I've had a slip-up.
  16. No, Pringles do, but Staxx don't. It says it right on the label that they are Gluten Free. I'm so happy because they are so yummy, and a great replacement for my beloved pringles.
  17. Thanks Becky6 - I'll look for them at Target. I love that store!
  18. Hi Alyson, and welcome to the board. In my experience, when I am accidentally "glutened", the reaction happens in as little as 30 minutes. I'm not sure if the reaction is worse or not, because when I was eating gluten, I felt miserable all of the time.
  19. I was in our local Wal-Mart this weekend, and they had a display of Lays Staxx (for only $1.25 each!), and a new flavor that I haven't seen in my gorcery store yet - Hidden Valley Ranch. I just had them with my lunch, and they are yummy! Just thought I would share...
  20. I have contacted DD and have yet to hear back from them. I'd like to know if their lattes are gluten-free or not. Do any of you know?
  21. Hi Nini, As far as I know, he doesn't have either condition. His mother had the same pumps, but they have gone away with age.
  22. I know I read somewhere on this board about people who have little red bumbs on their upper arm, and it is also common the the upper legs and buttocks. My husband has this, and I'd like to do some research on it. Can someone tell me the name? Also, is there anything he can do to get rid of them? Thanks so much!
  23. I like to make this taco dip, and use the Tostitos scoops with it. In a 8" round or square pan layer: A can of refried beans on the bottom Mix sour cream and taco seasoning mix (make sure it is a gluten-free packet), and put on top of the beans Sprinkle on some shredded cheese Shred some lettuce and add Top with chopped tomato And add black...
  24. Hi, where do you live? At my local A&P and ShopRite, there are a lot of Gluten Free items in stock on a regualr basis. It's really great!
  25. IWhen I walk, trip constantly, or sometimes one foot drags - and almost feels like it gets stuck. I always thought I was just clumsy...
