  1. Hi Moongirl, OPI is gluten-free, but I'm not sure about ESSIE. That is what my salon uses, and I have not had any problems. I think as long as you don't eat your nail polish, then you should be fine. Or, you could just go with OPI and know you will be safe.
  2. Ha! I used to live in the East Village and have been to that stop a million times. 'twasn't me though, I won't even go into a pizza place anymore. Too sad...
  3. I saw my GI after 6 months gluten-free, and then I will see him in another 6 months. After that, I'll probably go every 1-2 years.
  4. Uuuggghhh, I've got one right now, and I am on my second round of Diflucan. Before going gluten-free, the Diflucan would work within one week, but that hasn't been my experience this time around. I have also started taking Acidophilus, and am hoping that will also help. Good luck!
  5. I haven't had to take my Claritin or Flonase for a while now (2+ months). It may be the colder weather, or it may be the gluten-free diet. I'm not sure, but I'm not complaining - they made me so thirsty!
  6. That is really great. I tried to go to my local one, but they were absolutely booked. Can't wait to go and try it out!
  7. I get this all of the time - especially from people who I work with, when we go out. Same response about pizza too. Actually, the most awful thing is the reaction to beer (pizza, pasta, etc.). I'm sure if you mentioned that, it would shut them up.
  8. Yes, Yasmin is gluten-free. I take it, and it's great.
  9. Irish on my mom's side My father was adopted so I don't really know, but I'm thinking northern European decent, possibly Norwegian.
  10. Amanda, I agree with you wholeheartedly! My doctor handed me a pamplet when I was diagnosed, and that was the guidance I had - I didn't understand about cross contamination at all, and was still being glutened often. Thanks to this board, I feel like I'm becoming a pro, slowly but surely.
  11. Hi Mary Ann, I have been using Ricola, and they work great. I know that only the sugar-free Halls are safe for us, but don't know about Ludens. Carrie
  12. Oooo, good one!
  13. Oooo, I work in NYC. Do you know the name?
  14. For lotion I use Johnson's Softlotion - the one with baby oil in it. It's great!
  15. Ooohh, good to know about OPI - I love their colors.
  16. jerseyangel, I do all of the time also. More so then my husband. And sometimes, it really comes out of nowhere and surprises me. My reaction really makes my husband laugh - he always says, "you really can't act surprised anymore." LOL
  17. All Rolaids except the softchews (darn) are ok.
  18. I keep a lot of Immodium, Rolaids and peppermint tea on hand. Not sure how much these things help, but my symptoms seem to go away in about 2 days.
  19. I have a good friend that I met in college who was DX'd when he was a baby, so he knows nothing but the gluten-free lifestyle. I had known him for 8+ years before I was diagnosed, and my husband and I would make comments (to each other, not our friend) like: * I heard that you can grow out of this disease, so * It's been so long since he was diagnosed...
  20. In case any of you are wondering, I'm not going to go out and get a slice of pizza to see the reaction. As tempting as it may be working in NYC and having so many great pizza places around, I wouldn't do that to my body intentionally - ever. Getting glutened by CC is bad enough.
  21. I want to thank all of you who added your comments and questions. Reading these today really made my LOL at work, and boosted my mood. Keep 'em coming! Rachel--24, that is really cool! I tried scrapbooking when I got engaged, and bought a ton of stuff. It was a lot of fun, but too much work for me right now.
  22. Welcome to the board - you will find a lot of great resources here. This varies from person to person, and it may take up to 2 years to feel good again, so you are at the beginning stages. I'm not sure why your doctor did another scope after just 7 weeks - that is way to early. They should be done about every 6 months, and you will start to see results...
  23. LOL Rachel! BTW, where are you in that picture. It looks so interesting.
  24. Ok, I got these 2 today, from a co-worker that I have explained everything to one hundred times: Can you ever eat normal again? I wish that I had what you have, so I wouldn't be able to eat bread, sweets, etc... and get so fat. From my DM, over this past weekend: Can't I just scrape the top part of the peanut butter off, and then you'll...
  25. Wow Jillian, that sounds really cool. I Googled it, and it seems they are only offered in Briarcliff. I'd bring a little notebook and take notes - hey, you've paid for the class, you might as well be able to use the recipes, right? Have fun, and let us know what you make!
