  1. Cranky? It gave me a well-needed laugh. Trust me, you should see me in a mood swing. Thanks for the recipes and the links guys!
  2. That's just sad! It's such a shame that some people are so misinformed about the simplest things related to coeliacs! Well, at least the place HAD a gluten free menu. The closest gluten-free place is only a 10 minute drive, but they don't understand the concept of "Cross-contamination", so it's not worth it.
  3. I think we just have to accept that some doctors don't know what they are doing. I never said ALL, I just said SOME. If you feel better when gluten-free, well, eat gluten-free. You probably are a coeliac or gluten intolerant, either way, as long as you feel okay!
  4. Invite accepted.
  5. So, the biopsy. Would someone please tell me what happens when you go in to have your endoscopy done? Is one put to sleep? Or is it done while you are awake? Also, do you have to stay in the hospital over night?
  6. Hey everyone. I love a good scone, and if indeed I have coeliacs, I won't be able to eat them any more. So, I need an alternative. Would it be possible for me to just replace the normal flour with gluten-free flour? Or would I have to modify the whole recipe. They're just simple scones: flour, baking powder/bicarbonate of soda, eggs, buttermilk. Maybe...
  7. Well it all depends I suppose. If you are not absorbing your nutrients yet, I wouldn't exercise, since (what my problem is) you'd lose more weight, and your body would not have anything to run off of. But I don't know if exercise would have any effect at all, anyhow! It's good to exercise, but I think it's up to you. YMMV, as they say!
  8. I don't know if you'd call this a snack, but it's great for elevenses or afternoon tea. Boil an egg til the yolk is left gooey. Toast one slice of (presumably) gluten-free bread. Cut egg in half, cut toast into strips. Dip toast in egg yolk, put in mouth, chew, swallow, enjoy! It's called "egg and soldiers" and it's my favourite thing to eat besides...
  9. Endoscopy? I'm afraid I'll do whatever it takes I just want to feel better! I'm so sick of being sick of being sick. Funny thing, it's good I went to the doctor while I did. You see, whenever I'm suffering or whatever I tend to keep it to myself, which apparently is not a good thing to do. It's only when people started to notice I was turning white...
  10. I think it's possible you have been glutened. Yesterday I had chili dinner, and I don't know what was put into it-but. Well, I hadn't even finished it. Not even half-way through the bowl! My stomach felt as if it had jumped up and twisted in four knots! UGH! The problem was, I was eating a dinner roll with it. Made from white flour. I...
  11. So I started another thread asking issues about my weight, but bow I've found this dedicated forum just for those questions. The past week or so, I've literally been bingeing on chocolate and backed goods. I haven't gained any weight other than the horrible bloating I've been feeling. My question is, will I gain weight from this? I'm still awaiting diagnosis...
  12. I see. I wish o had read this earlier....today it's the same thing. I have literally binges on chocolate and baked goods. The gloating is terrible...but I don't have any cravings now. I thought I might have binge eating disorder, but I don't. I am still waiting the results of my blood test. So what about weight gain? Will it only be possible for me to...
  13. Hey everyone! I'm another new poster to the forums, and I'm (as my signature says) awaiting my diagnosis. I had the blood test, and I eat a lot of gluten, so I do think the results will show up accurately (I hope). I'm trying to learn as much as I can about gluten-free foods and alternatives to gluten-full foods, just in case. Don't worry, I won't...
  14. Hello everyone! I'm new to the board. Before I start, let me explain that I was only tested for coeliacs disease two days ago, and that's via blood test. Now, I do eat a LOT of gluten foods, such as whole wheat breads and bagels, biscuits, scones, cookies, cake, etc. But, never have I eaten them in excess amounts. Well, lately, I've been absolutely ravenous...
