  1. Well, the question is in the title. Parents: do you keep your child home from school after they've been glutened the day before or on that day? Or do you send a note with the wee one to school to say to their teacher to be on the look-out?
  2. That sounds fun! Do you mind me asking what brand/model the mill is?
  3. Coonstipation should resolve, though maybe you aren't getting enough fibre like Kareng said? To get more fibre, eat more fruits and brown rice. Dates, raisins, prunes, and other dried fruit helps too, although I wouldn't eat TOO much because there is a higher level of natural sugars. Brown rice is fibre-rich, if you can tolerate it. Dark chocolate...
  4. Update! I am still gaining and now I'm starting to be greightened. Is this normal? My thyroid test came back as just fine! Maybe it's water weight? If so how do I rid myself of it?
  5. I used one stick of butter, and 3.5oz of olive oil. They turnt out fluffily-moist and deliciously sweet!
  6. I have Heartland Gourmet mix here, of brownies. It calls for two sticks of butter, and I only have one. If I used EVOO or pumpkin or something similar, would it work the same or not? **For those wondering who responded to my butter/margarine intolerance thread, I'm beginning to handle margarine and butter again. It was just a phase I think.
  7. Can you tolerate oats? If you can, get some certified gluten-free oats, and have yourself a nice big bowl of porridge, of the recommended daily intale for coeliacs, and add honey or some healthy fruits to it. It will keep you full for HOURS and HOURS!
  8. Well I'd say go for it, but not before you get a biopsy. I'd try and get a biopsy as soon as you can. THEN, go gluten-free and see if you feel better. Now, you could go gluten-free first, then get a biopsy, but after being gluten-free for a month, I'd want to go back on gluten for 3 - 4 weeks before the biopsy. As you know, the biopsy will not be accurate...
  9. And this is why I get made that some people think this is a fad diet Sure, eat gluten-free. It doesn't bother me, but Dominos having this crust doesn't help matters, it will probably only leave a lot of people sick from the unknown cc.
  10. Even plastic ones could clean easily. I'd soak them thoroughly though, and maybe wash them twice, but that should still work. But, glass should be fine.
  11. Yes thank you so much for posting that! I have to try it once I gather the ingredients. On another note, for my recipe, I've discovered that if you add your preferred amount of cooked quinoa, they come out with a lovely texture and slight tang. You can blend the quinoa, or put it in whole. It's great. The only problem is having to watch it being cooked...
  12. Ener-G I've never had, but by the sounds of this forum, I don't think I want to! Anyhow, can you get Genius breads? Kinnikinnick is supposed to be excellent. Udi's is good, as is Rudi's. But, El Peto is hit and miss. Have you tried to make your own? It's much, much, much, much better because you control what and how MUCH of what goes in.
  13. Do you have any Asian specialty stores in your area? Because usually they'll have rice that's certified to have come in no contact with oats or any other gluten containing-food. Shipped from Thailand or China, India or Japan... and usually organic too!
  14. Well, with each meal, serve a little bit. Breakfast, maybe gluten cereal? Then with lunch maybe 1/2 or 1/4 a slice of bread? Then with supper maybe a cookie for dessert?
  15. I know about a day or so. Well, it's like this. If I'm glutened at lunch time today, I'll feel it first thing when I wake up tomorrow morning. If I was glutened today at breakfast, I'd know first thing tomorrow morning. If I was glutened today, sometimes whether I sleep or not will be a sign. Sometimes I feel like I've slept, but wake up tired. I can...
  16. I meant three months....ooooops I'm sorry. Three weeks wouldn't prove anything.
  17. I'd be afraid to go back too! You learn more about what's wrong with you from the Shopping Channel than you do doctors, I believe. Here's something to lighten the thread up a bit. I went to the dentist a few days ago to fill the last of my 9 cavities. This was strange, since I brush my teach out of habit anyways. Before I knew I had coeliac, she just...
  18. Anyone here who can buy Aero bars, be careful of the orange flavoured ones. It was my fist time eating them since going gluten-free today, and I get very sick. Now, the bars themselved are gluten free and deliciously good, however the orange ones seem to upset my stomach whereas the mint and milk ones do not. I think there may be a cross-contamination...
  19. I had t-bone steak, and LOTS of fresh salad on the side. I'm waiting for the berries to start growing! At Summer, I tend to go "berry-tarian".....with the occasional apple, but it's only spring yet.
  20. Thank you, both of you! I ask so many questions, but I always get the answers I need. I'm feeling better now, but will keep drinking lots of water and stuff. What about epsom salt? I read that epsom salt helps the gluten be removed from your body, or is that just foolishness?
  21. Have any bulk stores near by? If there's cocoa powder there, and it's kept a bit a ways from the flours, give that a try. Also, I don't know if you can get it where you live, but Cadbury's cocoa powder works great!
  22. I'd recommend you give up the gluten first, then wait maybe 3 weeks or a month. Then wonder, has anything changed? If not, give up the iodine foods as well. If this works, then you can try to go back on gluten but not iodine and see what happens. It's a trial per se.
  23. So yesterday, someone told me I was: senile, full of shi*, foolish, acting childish, and that it was "all in my head"...when I requested my hamburger be barbequed on tin-foil so to avoid the CC from the sauce. I've done it before, and it worked wonderfully. This person told me "the sauce is burnt off when you cook it anyhow!"...and I tried to explain to him...
  24. Pm'd you about the recipe! I know the term now "meringue cookies". Woohoo! Time to get creative
  25. I'm one who had the flu and cold almost every day, in some shape or form, before going gluten-free, so definitely YES!
