  1. I've been noticing lately a lot of my family members (and I mean a lot) are having gastric, arthritic, mood, and thinking problems....so I'm positive that coeliacs is in my family.

    ARCHIVED Doctors

And where I am a man, the doctor really suspected I was lying....because coeliac is more common in women, but nonetheless I've been gluten-free for a while now and I've been getting better, I can really tell!
  3. It's just my computer. I've got it
  4. Are you sure that it's shared equipment with gluten? Bakery on Main only makes gluten-free products as far as I know, and that's all their website lists. Are you sure it's not "made in a facility that also processes tree nuts and peanuts"? But I can eat certified oats just fine. Cream Hill Estates, Only Oats, Bob's Red Mill. They're all quite fine.
  5. I'm trying for tacos tonight. Don't know how this will work, I'm used to traditional foods...not tacos. Wish me luck.
  6. *wah* I'm getting "Page not found"
  7. They're on the middle shelves here, and there is like 50000 different bags all different brands So there's flour....all over the place. I'm thinking that was it. I'll just wear an oxygen mask next time...
  8. Okay. It must have been that. I ate the same things today I did yesterday (along the same lines), and I'm fine. So it must have been that! Isn't it strange though? Your symptoms lasted for TWO MONTHS?
  9. Does anyone here get sick when they walk through the baking aisle in their grocery store? One that contains the flour? I did today, it's the only thing I can think I've done today. I've been "glutened" again, and I'm trying to figure out WHY. It's the only thing I've done differently....while looking for chocolate chips.
  10. Wow this scares me. I haven't had Cheez Whiz since going gluten-free, but...I'll have to check the label like you said.
  11. Newfoundland! We have a lot of people with gluten intolerance and coeliac, and I read that that is because most of us are of Irish/British descent. The same would go for Nova Scotia and PEI too, wouldn't it? But hello
  12. Ha! That seems so interesting too, but the side affect are just not worth it at all! It's like when you find a new brand of corn chips, then you read the label the ingredients say: Corn, water, salt, whatever....then in small print it says "may contain wheat".
  13. It's important to note they have two separate processing locations, so there's no chance of cross-contamination, whatsoever. So, OP, maybe you did get a wheat product?
  14. No it's just Canada as far as I know. I've noticed it too, and I think it's great. There's a list of flavours on the website of Lays (which I can't get right now).
  15. Today I read of de-glutinated wheat. It's used in many gluten-free foods in Austria, and other places in Europe and Canada! I know "de-glutinated" would mean without gluten, but, how could wheat be without gluten, and is it safe for the gluten intolerant and coeliac?
  16. So I'm going to be staying with my GREAT grandmother soon for a weekend, to keep her company. As you might imagine, she's up in the numbers but she's not "old". However, I don't really know how I will explain this coeliacs to her! I don't think "I can't eat barley, wheat, rye or triticale" will work. My family grew up believing that wheat and barley are the...
  17. I'm getting one for asthma, and I may just add coeliac to it. I need to think it over, but I do need one for asthma.
  18. This morning was pork and an apple. Yeah, pork. It was leftover.
  19. Some doctors just don't want to help. Some doctors do, but they're few and far in between. Mine wasn't helpful either. I agree with MitziG and say diagnose yourself. Feel better without gluten? Go for it!
  20. Thank you, kindly! I couldn't convert my recipes, even a cup-for-cup wouldn't work. I'm good now! I have a collection growing.
  21. I think it's funny that a flourless cake is one a flour-company website Or maybe I've had too many cups of tea today!
  22. So I can't adjust my recipes for Barmbrack and Rich Tea Biscuits to gluten-free, so I want to know if anyone here knows a good recipe (or where I can find one) for them. I COULD just buy it, but there's nothing better than homemade!
  23. I'm kind of sort of the opinion that it's not good to give a dog too many grains anyways...I read something about how dogs when in the wild they survived by hunting -- eating meat, so I like the kibble that is grain free. Of course, my dog loves her treats, so I won't deny her whole-grain bone biscuits!
  24. Almond butter makes me sick. It's taste thing. I like almonds, just not almond butter. However, sit me down with a jar of peanut butter and it'll be gone faster than you can SAY peanut butter.
  25. Honey'd Cex: THE BOX I FINALLY FINISHED!!! Gluten-free Honeybar.Sliver of left-over Shepherd's Pie, and a homemade peanut-butter biscuit! A healthy one, full'a protein and good fats to keep me full!
