I haven't tried it yet, but I did read some reviews. They do have a dedicated kitchen area and dedicated kitchen tools to avoid CC, and employees are apparently trained, but these are franchises so the preparation may vary from place to place. I haven't seen any reviews yet that mention CC or a gluten reaction after eating, but several reviews said the...

ARCHIVED Just like dominos this menu item shall fall - Pizza Marketplace.com (blog)
kittty replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
How can something be 99% gluten free when it has gluten in it? 1% gluten = 100% positive for gluten. It's not like you can cut that bagel into 100 pieces and only expect to find gluten in one of them. Totally false advertising. -
ARCHIVED My Symptoms And Diet Test
kittty replied to jjohn78's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Grrrrr lazy doctors!! Isn't it frustrating when they diagnose you with a symptom instead of an actual CAUSE for the symptoms? I had fainting spells, vertigo and dizziness, and migraine auras for several years, and the doctors just dismissed them. Even after ending up in the ER with vertigo so bad that I couldn't even open my eyes, the doctor told me "you... -
ARCHIVED Celiac disease immunotherapy that would replace a gluten-free diet begins ... - MedCity News

It sounds good, but the side effects from the early trials included nausea for almost half of the test subjects. I guess it's easy to live a full gluten lifestyle if you're too nauseous to eat anything. -
Are you in housing that is associated with the university/college you're attending, or is it a private apartment that you rented? If it's on campus you should be able to talk to the housing office about the issues and your illness. They would be expected to find you another living arrangement considering the circumstances.

ARCHIVED Your Symptoms...
kittty replied to SwtRandi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you eating gluten right now, or did you recently stop again? Not eating gluten can give you a negative blood test (which is what happened to me). I had all of your symptoms, minus the constipation (only had the D). Do you always have migraine pain with the auras? When I had auras they usually occurred with no migraine pain. It's odd to not have... -
ARCHIVED Negative Test Results
kittty posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All of my test results came back negative, which is no surprise because I was already gluten free for four and a half months before the tests. I hadn't seen my doctor in a long time, and she suggested getting tested even though going gluten free has cleared up most of my health problems, which have either gone completely or are getting better. She was... -
ARCHIVED When You Know It's Something, But It's Not Depression
kittty replied to Finally-45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The repetitive thoughts and focusing on negative things sounds more like anxiety and/or OCD than depression. When I get anxious I can't stop focusing on negative things and blowing them out of proportion too. Since going gluten-free the anxiety has mostly gone away, but it still lingers sometimes. It's definitely something that Celiacs deal with, and... -
ARCHIVED Funny Things That Happened To Me Along The Way
kittty replied to Finally-45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Those were hilarious! I ordered a sandwich without the bread once, and the server asked why. I told her I couldn't eat gluten, and she said "it's okay because we only use whole wheat bread here." -
ARCHIVED Severe Nausea
kittty replied to Kiwiwio's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ditto what Adalaide said, except I keep Meclizine on hand instead of Promethazine. It's supposed to have fewer side effects, but it still knocks me out for several hours. -
ARCHIVED My First Post, New To Intolerance And Still In Distress
kittty replied to AnnJay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are a couple of different kinds of balsamic vinegar. There is the traditional kind which is made from pressed grapes, like wine. Then there is the common kind which isn't technically balsamic vinegar, but more of an imitation made from wine vinegar and other additives. It often has the word "Modena" in the name, and it's the kind of stuff that most... -
My doctors office just called with some of my test results. I'd be interested to see the actual numbers when they're posted to the online system, but for now this is what she said: Tested negative for celiac, which doesn't surprise me because I've been off gluten for four and a half months. Cholesterol was normal, but both triglycerides and white blood...

Thanks for the responses. Just hearing that word "catastrophising" actually helped, because it put things in perspective. And yes, he has been through periods of unemployment over the past few years. He was laid off when the economy went south, and then was underemployed for a while, and then he got a new job but was let go within two weeks because the...

ARCHIVED What Did You Have For Lunch Today?
kittty replied to love2travel's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
A greek yogurt, and some thai coconut taro crispy things. They're great! They taste like they should be made out of wheat, but it's just coconut and taro flour with sesame and a few other things. Totally recommend them! -
Uggg, I hate feeling anxious. This time it isn't gluten related either. I was browsing through Craigslist on my lunchbreak, and saw an ad for what looks like my husband's job. He actually found the job through Craigslist originally, and it makes me nervous to see something so similar just sitting there. He's had no disciplinary issues at work, he gets...

ARCHIVED Non-Supportive Husband While Going gluten-free
kittty replied to AnnieInItaly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It sounds like he doesn't really understand what gluten does to your body, and needs some education. Let him know that even a small amount of gluten every now and then can cause a chain reaction in your body that leaves damage for many months. If your body never heals, because you keep eating occasional gluten, then you could end up seriously ill. -
Honestly, getting a diagnosis in a year is actually very good. Most people with celiacs aren't diagnosed for many many years. I'm still not officially diagnosed, but it's been over a decade struggling with doctors and trying to find out what was wrong with me. It's not going to be easy to find a PCP with a specialization in something like celiacs, because...

ARCHIVED What Do You Think? Some Testing Results As Well
kittty replied to Lifenthefastlane's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your symptoms are exactly the same as mine. I didn't get blood work done until after going gluten free (and don't have the results back yet), but cutting out gluten REALLY helped. Most of my bathroom issues went away within a week. One question (sorry for the gross-out factor) - is there undigested food in your stool? That was a major concern for me, and... -
About ten years ago my periods became really erratic. My old doctor put me on the pill as a way to even them out, and it worked, but she never bothered to figure out what was causing the problems. I wouldn't have a period for months, and then I'd have two in a single month. There was no rhyme or reason to it.

Agreed! And if you have a pasta machine, it's so quick, easy, and cheap to make. I've never been a big fan of Olive Garden because the sauces were always too salty for my taste. It's like they throw a bunch of salt in there to make up for the lack of natural flavors.

ARCHIVED Day 8...still Glutened
kittty replied to kittty's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I haven't noticed any rebound anxiety with Xanax, probably because the dose is only 0.25, and I cut those in half. I'm also not on it long term - just when the anxiety is really bad. -
ARCHIVED Effects Of Sitting On Weigh
kittty replied to plumbago's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Not drinking enough water can definitely lead to water weight gain from being bloated, and you will feel heavier from that. Is it possible that you're more likely to get drinks when you're at home, and are too far from the water fountain, or too busy, to keep properly hydrated at work? -
According to my doctor, the headaches experienced with these diets are often due to a lack of protein. I'd be careful with juice diets, or any kind of diet that eliminates specific foods (minus gluten of course), because if your body is still not absorbing properly and you eliminate a certain nutrient that it needs, you could end up feeling even worse...

I'll bring it up with her at my next appointment. I remember at the time she just told me to eat more protein and less carbs - which was along the right lines. I just don't think the levels were low enough to raise any alarm.
