  1. Yeah, you're right, Puddy - I saw the replay last night and that was sad! What do you guys think? I voted extra for Twitch, but I love Joshua too! I voted for those two and Chelsie and Katee. I told my husband last night that Courtney used to be my favorite but now I'm not sure... and he said it's because she got partnered with Mark, and that all of Mark...
  2. I'll be interested to see what people say, because after 3 years, I still freeze up when I get to the bar and don't know what to order! I was a beer drinker before and loved it... also loved the price... the Celiac price tag is heftier when you go out! I sometimes get Malibu or Disaronno (amaretto) on the rocks. I've also had vodka and cranberry, when...
  3. Just wanted to report that it's getting a lot better! (I think) She whines mostly in the morning now, because she wakes up raring (sp?) to go way before we are ready! Other than that she whimpers for a few minutes after going outside each time during the night but then quiets down. It is so much better. And the housetraining is going excellently. As long...
  4. I use Boscia skin care, which is botanically based (Purifying Cleansing Gel, Balancing Facial Tonic, etc.), and I buy it at Sephora. I started in November, right before my wedding, and it keeps my skin looking a lot better. I have very sensitive skin. Their products are produced in a clean room environment and contain no preservatives, which is what irritates...
  5. Thanks for all the replies! (Petunia is here in my lap as I type.) I was trying to give so much detail in my original post that I think I obscured my actual concern, which was the noise in the cage. I fully expected to have to take her outside to potty multiple times a night, and I would never punish her for going in her cage. I was just concerned because...
  6. I know! Twitch and Kherrington (sp?) were amazing together. And I have loved Mia Michaels's routines this year... very entertaining! Sometimes she can be a little annoying as a judge, but her choreography is so great! Yeah... Twitch is an Alabama boy and that means I hope he will win, too... but I like Josh too. I think Will was the best technical dancer...
  7. Hi, everyone! Well, my husband and I finally got a dog, something I have been dying to do since I left home for college! The first two days were heaven. I enjoyed every minute, and she was so sweet and meek and funny. Well, eeeaarly Tuesday morning, the dog found her voice (that was after night 2). And I thought, she is hungry, because we could not get...
  8. Whoa!!! Robbed!! I couldn't believe the bottom 2 boys! i am so sad that Will went home. But I didn't really want any of the boys to go home. Well, maybe Mark. Comfort knew it was coming. The solos are different this year and the judges haven't said anything! Remember the time they yelled at that one guy (last year?) because they said he didn't even practice...
  9. My husband and I watch every week! My favorites are Twitch and Chelsie (sp?). I think it is such a fun show, and I actually like the judges. Anyone else watching it too?
  10. Baptist Medical Center (downtown) 800 Prudential Dr Jacksonville, FL 32207 2-4pm
  11. Come one, come all to the initial meeting of the Jacksonville, FL Gluten-Free Support Group this Saturday from 2-4pm at Baptist Hospital downtown. There will be some food to munch on as we introduce ourselves and ask and answer questions...
  12. We're on! The room is at the Baptist Medical Center downtown on the 8th floor, the Doctors Dining Room. If it is the one I am thinking, you have to go through the cafeteria to get there. See you this Saturday at 2pm!
  13. It might depend on the Whole Foods, because the last time I was in Birmingham I picked one up of the Whole Foods brand, 365 something -- I don't remember. The only downside is that it makes one layer, so you'd probably need two ($3.99) boxes to make a recipe calling for a cake mix. Maybe you could request the nearest Whole Foods to carry it?
  14. Well, thank you! I'm just glad people still want to do it! I can't wait. I am still back and forth with the contact at the hospital; I don't know why he won't just assign us a room and let that be it... it looks like he has narrowed it down to 2, so hopefully I will hear back from him again this afternoon so I can let you all know. At any rate, the address...
  15. We have been authorized to hold our meeting at Baptist Hospital! I'm so excited! I just found out this morning, and I've written back to get the room number. I will post everything I find out here. For now, mark your calendars - Saturday, June 28 2-4pm (although we don't have to stay that long if people don't want to!) Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville...
  16. I went to Digestive Disease and that is where I got my diagnosis. I just told them my symptoms and a PA ordered a bunch of blood tests, Celiac among them. They were not too helpful with the diet (I got the standard handout ordering me not to eat any gums and no vinegar -- so that was confusing for a while) but I am grateful to have been diagnosed so quickly...
  17. Hi, all! Angie, I really appreciate your offer of a meeting place. It sounds like you have a lot going on, though, and I'd like to post the info about our meeting in other places as well, and I wouldn't want to be spreading your address all over the Internet! So, I put in a request to the Baptist Medical Hospital downtown for a meeting room, where the...
  18. Hi, Angie! The 28th would be fine for me -- thanks so much for volunteering! Can other people make it on the 28th??
  19. Gas went back under $4/gal on the weekend; then I read in the paper that prices would be going up again due to speculation on the price of oil's rising to $150/barrel by July 4. Sure enough, overnight on the weekend it jumped from $3.98 to $4.09. It's so unfair!!
  20. Could anyone suggest a place? We used to meet at the Baptist Hospital, but since this would be an informal, first meeting, maybe we could go somewhere more casual? Or even meet to eat out? I was thinking maybe Saturday, June 21. Let me know what you think!
  21. Hi, Michele! Welcome! My doctor is Dr. Leibach at Digestive Disease Associates, out near North Florida hospital. They are familiar with Celiac, and that is where I was diagnosed, although they gave me some outdated info on the diet. I just went in not knowing what was wrong and a PA there ran a bunch of blood tests on me. I'm very grateful that they were...
  22. Ah, good point elonwy, yes, the crunch flavors are not gluten-free, but they weren't an option as far as I could tell on the special offer.
  23. Hey, Jacksonville folks! I'm over in Gainesville and I would so love to get together with any of you that are interested. There was supposed to be a meeting around here but I don't know if people have left for the summer or it just never materialized or what happened, but I haven't heard from anyone. I am definitely feeling the need to support and be supported...
  24. Hi! I have posted before about how I can't stay full for very long and am constantly snacking (real hunger, not just appetite). Well, I went to D'Lites Emporium last week (which I've also posted about, appears to be only in Florida) and found several gluten-free products I'd never heard of. One of them was ExtendBar, and the company also makes ExtendCrisps...
  25. Just wanted to throw in a little input on San Antonio from back in November. The support group there is awesome! I got all my info from their webpage: Open Original Shared Link I went to the Little Aussie Bakery -- wonderful pizza and as other posters here have mentioned, the whole place is gluten free! It was amazing to eat bread dipped in olive oil...
