  1. it's nothing serious... and after all, i've always been kind of clumsy. but i swear it's reached a new level. i just slammed my right leg into the fridge on my way to the laundry room and then i decided i would post about this and see if anyone has this problem too. it's not just getting tripped up; it's like my body doesn't know where it ends! a couple...
  2. Hi there! much luck with the results. as far as feeling better, my digestive symptoms went away within a couple of weeks of going gluten free. the fatigue and fog took longer... i really only got my energy back around 3 months or so later. and then everything i ate made me incredibly bloated (sorry) and i didn't feel good in general. i then heard we are...
  3. Thanks, Tiffany, for sharing this! i'm sorry that you had to be on constant crumb-watch! it is good for me, though, to read other people's stories because sometimes i get frustrated with myself for being so paranoid! hope you get some down time.
  4. English, Irish, Dutch and American Indian.
  5. lol, that's what i thought i was going to have to do, too! it was awful. but i figure that pan may have had its share of leftover gluten, as it was my dad's in his pizza restaurant when i was little and has considerable scratches in it. but my sister and her husband gave me a new one for Christmas, so i'm going to break it in in the New Year! Thanks, everybody...
  6. i would really like to attend a conference next year. it sounds like so much fun! is this one that people would recommend for a first-timer?
  7. i'm hoping someone can tell me what i did wrong with Bette Hagman's Thick (actually a misnomer!) Yeast-Free Pizza Crust, p. 246 of the updated cookbook, The Gluten Free Gourmet: Living Well Without Wheat. it was my first foray into making a pizza, gluten-free or otherwise. i greased the pan really well, with olive oil. and the crust stuck to wazoo and back...
  8. thanks, Tiffany, that's what i was thinking. good to know!
  9. Hi, Dan, Glen and celiac3270! celiac3270, that was the best description of celiac disease-related lactose intolerance i've come across! thanks! i'm currently doing the Lactaid thing... i think i had lactose problems for a while before i found out about Celiac, so i'm not sure whether mine will clear up or not. however, i don't have any problems if i use...
  10. i called them and they were very helpful on the phone about gluten-free status of products they had information for... but then i had three discontinued products and they were supposed to call me back when they figured it out but never did. so i decided that since i couldn't see WRBO in the ingredients, i'd use them sparingly -- one was Moonlight Path, and...
  11. hi, guys! it's your buddy Laurel with another alcohol question. my sister got Connie Sarros's (sp?) lower calorie gluten-free cookbook for Christmas and i was reading in it today. it was published last year, so i don't think it's a question of outdated information. she claims that we have to be careful with imported wines, because, although American wines...
  12. i see it in Firefox but not Explorer.
  13. amen to that! i don't know what i'd do without this board! thanks for all you do.
  14. just stay away from the french vanilla... i bought a big ole thing of it and it's reeeeally flavored! fragrances my apt for a couple days, lol.
  15. i just want to say hooray for all of us! you all sound like a bunch of troopers, strong people who are getting through all of this, come what may. as other people mentioned, this is a tough month for "our kind". but it's almost over! and for many of us, we survived our first gluten-free Christmas/holiday season this year! let's drink a toast!
  16. i'm sorry that happened to you! as far as i know, reeses cups are still fine... i checked a couple of weeks ago when i was buying them and the miniature and full-sized did not list any forbidden ingredients. i love them too. matter of fact, tonight i picked up some Breyer's Reese's Cup ice cream and it's TDF!!
  17. hooray for coffee! my tummy handles it okay, as long as it isn't the first thing i take in in the morning. i have learned that regular coffee is most always ok, but flavored coffee must be checked on, because i've seen it have gluten in it (for instance, Gevalia, which i used to drink all the time pre-diet, says all its flavored coffees contain gluten...

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

i don't know if this helps, but Chik-fil-a waffle fries are, from what i understand, generally gluten-free... i think i saw that on the menu but i'm not on my computer so i don't have the link handy. they have a gluten-free menu on their website. so i got brave and went in and asked and the cashier said that they only fry fries in that one fryer and the oil...

    ARCHIVED Sushi

    ARCHIVED Jealous

i understand how y'all feel! my recommendation is, if you have a support group (and if not, drive 'til you find one; that's what i do and it's great!) have a Holiday Cookie Exchange. that's what we did this past Saturday, and to walk into a room and know i could have any of the treats i wanted did wonders for my spirits! plus now i have some new recipes...
  22. anybody else suffer from anxiety dreams? the first one i remember having was really sad -- i was on vacation at the beach with some friends and they knew i had celiac so i'd just downed 2 heavenly biscuits at breakfast, and they were just like i remembered them-- and then it hit me: they weren't supposed to be for me, they weren't gluten-free! oh no! so i...
  23. i've been doing well emotionally lately. but today, tears sprang to my eyes -- i got my first Godiva catalog since being diagnosed. (their policy is for us to stay away -- apparently they process stuff together). does anyone know of any safe truffles? that was my *thing*. and i haven't seen anything in my lists. thanks.
  24. breading! score! i have been craving some chicken fingers lately; i'll have to see if i can get my hands on some of that. i don't think i've seen it around here, though -- in my 4 stores that i go to . (i'm finally starting to be able to keep straight which one is the frozen food store, which one has all the flours, which one has the cheapest cereal, and...
  25. lol! that is how i learned to spell it too. it took me forever to find the page! as for favorite Kinnikinnick bread, i think i'd go with the italian white bread. i can't remember the exact wording but there's italian in there somewhere. not really sure why, though, now that i think about it. yesterday i saw some more exotic ones but i haven't tried them...
