  1. i'd like to know if anyone has answers for this too! perhaps we should take some dining cards. i also wanted to add here that our honeymoon Carnival cruise out of New Orleans fell through (they changed the port to Miami) and now we're going on a Norwegian cruise. The travel agent sent me a document from the cruise line with a list of like 20 gluten free...
  2. ok, now i'm jealous! i want Annalise to create something for me too! I will have to make a test batch of p. 37; thanks to both of you!
  3. Hi, all! I'm in the process of planning a gluten-free wedding reception (mine) for December. My mom wanted me to ask if there is any problem with tripling (or whatever math would have to be done) a cake recipe, such as Annalise Roberts's Coconut Layer Cake, which I have the recipe for and have read here that it's been used with great success. To me, common...
  4. yeah, Doc (i think that was his name?) was suffering and had to be put to sleep. animal drama makes me cry. i too cannot believe they did that and it was gross seeing her wake up and have it hit her. i find it hard to believe. and also hard to believe anyone would do that with George! he stammers all the time!! i don't find him attractive or funny. this...
  5. first of all, you have come to the right place! and props to you for getting to the bottom of what is going on with your son. i'd suggest reading all you can here and on other celiac websites to gather all the info you can while you wait for the results to come back. no, gluten is not necessary for non-Celiacs, and Dr. Peter Green (Celiac expert) says...

    ARCHIVED Omg.....

Ener-g bricks were the first bread i bought and i cried because i figured all the breads were like that! but they're not. they're somewhat better. the only way to me to feel happy about eating bread again is to make it myself, which is very time-consuming... so i make it every couple of weeks or so and always mix up two batches of the dry ingredients to...
  7. do you all buy the Sam's Club chicken breasts and tenders (not prepared)? they say "chicken broth" on the front and i called like three times and every person i get transferred to asks me to repeat the part where i say "is it gluten free? does it contain wheat, etc?" one time they even transferred me to the bakery! for a chicken question! a higher-up even...
  8. so i was trying to book a flight to Spain today for May and needed to fly Delta but wasn't about to not have a gluten-free meal with such a long itinerary (i eat like every hour on the hour so i knew i'd starve if i just snacked!). so i called up Delta to find out if they served one, because it wasn't listed on their website, and after many, many minutes...
  9. Happy, Happy Birthday! And, as it is your day, if you wanted to have a small pity party and then move on, that is also an option. No one can tell you how to manage your own glutenfreeness! I understand what you are saying totally. It is hard enough to deal with "crumby" foods on any day, let alone when you are Queen for the Day!! so i say, enjoy your dinner...
  10. this is so great to hear, because I'm going to Spain for 6 weeks and I have been so nervous about it, but I had also heard that Europe was easier than here. the organization that set up my housing said they found the perfect family for me that was "very familiar with the diet" so I think things will go just fine.
  11. hello! it looks as though my fianc
  12. hi!! thanks so much for all your well wishes! i am indeed very excited and he is quite a catch! i'm doing a lot of things right now; it's so early that it's not even stressful at all. registering has been the most fun so far.
  13. hi! Orlando has a Whole Foods, complete with gluten-free bakery. i can't remember where it is but if you google it there are directions on the site. have fun!
  14. hi, all! i hope someone still remembers me... it's been a while since i posted! anyway, i went to Puerto Rico with my boyfriend to visit his family and he popped the question on Jan 1 shortly after midnight!! he is the most wonderful man who actually says he likes my gluten free bread and pancakes and whatnot better than the gluteny stuff! so now i'm planning...
  15. i use Redken Fresh Curls. i used to love their All Soft, but it's got wheat in it. i had to stop using Bumble & Bumble because of the wheat in some products. but Redken works well, also Garnier Fructisse. and it smells yummy! i buy that at Wal-Mart; the Redken i get at my salon. glad that your symptoms went away!
  16. thanks, everybody, for your replies! i have never asked them to be careful... i guess that's something to think about, but i'm not very good at it... maybe it is just the reaction to fried stuff, because usually i only order the fries and nothing else. haven't been back yet.
  17. just wanted to add that i'm thinking about you! it is very sad at first and quite a shock, so grieve as long as you need to. and don't feel guilty, you had no idea that you had it and like the other responders have said, now your kids know early on that they might have it and can prevent further damage. my mom felt guilty, too, but it's not her fault, either...
  18. hello, all! hope some of you still remember me -- i've been doing a lot of stuff for school and haven't been here as much as i used to. i just finished some Chik-fil-a Waffle Fries and my stomach is cramping. lightly, but still uncomfortable. it's not the first time it's happened (right, i should've stopped after about the second time it occurred -- but...
  19. hang in there, Kate! and welcome to the board! you are right, it is a valuable place to get information. i'm sorry that you're feeling bad... i especially had trouble with the teariness (alternating with rage!) after going gluten-free. so i feel your pain! i would say that it's pretty early on in your gluten-freeness for symptoms to disappear (even the...
  20. thanks! i'll check that out.
  21. i get a headache only from red wines, usually when i drink it but sometimes not until the next day. my dad said he heard that serious wine tasters take antihistamines before going out.
  22. I've been seeing very tempting recipes pop up everywhere lately that use phyllo dough, from baked brie to yummy-looking desserts. has anybody had success replacing this? thanks!!
  23. fried green tomatoes!! sometimes i dress them up with a little feta. white wine is nice with them, too.
  24. mick66, i was away from the board for a while this summer but was just wondering if you are feeling better. my sister is feeling the same, i think -- my parents are upset because she seems to be refusing to go to the dr. about it. she has had a couple of headaches recently and also sees things ("floaters" is what i think they are called, not sure). also her...
  25. i want to try it again! i was at Outback with my boyfriend the other night and as i perused the gluten-free menu, i thought, "this is silly! this diagnosis dropped out of the sky! i'd never even heard of Celiac. maybe it's all in my head!" sometimes it just seems like the randomest thing. and i do want to try something. i have been religiously, very...
