  1. just to throw in my two cents... I loved Coke Zero when it came out, but when I called Coca-Cola they said they could only tell me it was below so many ppm (sorry, it's been over a year and i can't remember the details!). So I only drink the ones they call gluten free (such as Coke, Sprite, Cherry Coke, Diet Coke, etc.) and stay away from the ones that are...
  2. I can so relate to this thread! I am a big worrier, too, and I worry about that and try to change it all the time! No luck yet... I worry about when to introduce cereals to my baby and how to do that, and I am not planning to have children for at least three more years! I think developing Celiac or taking care of someone who has opens up an entire world...
  3. Wow, Kat'sMommy, that was an incredibly helpful post! I live near Orlando, so I guess I'm going to have to go to Disney now! Thanks for all the info. P.S. Kara'sMom, Whole Foods north of Orlando has frozen baked goods you could keep in your hotel room for snacks and whatnot. Luckily I had a micro/fridge in San Antonio last weekend and was able to stock...
  4. I found this quite by accident while looking around for info for a presentation for school: Open Original Shared Link Basically, the Celiacs in one part of Spain have been clamoring for gluten free product prices to be comparable to those of non-gluten free products. The Ministry of Health is supposedly preparing a decree to that end! Wow! I am so jealous...
  5. who was watching last night??? Izzie makes me a little tired... i think she'd thrown herself at George enough. I still can't quite picture them together! other thoughts?
  6. Hi! I'm taking a Wilton Cake Decorating Course at Michael's and just wanted to add here that the box of 12 icing colors is gluten free and also the meringue powder. The icing I found out about by calling today and the meringue powder info is from their website.
  7. well, this is not really helpful for the situations mentioned here, but my entire reception in December will be gluten free! and i am doing it with pride. i will think of you all. i have been to just 2 weddings since diagnosis -- it feels so awful to me to be left out of eating cake and just relegated to the fruit! so wish me luck, it has been hard work explaining...
  8. it gets better!!! i'm living proof. after two years i can still get teary-eyed in a room full of gluteny, pizza-eating people, but i've come a looooong way. i cook super fast meals now and have learned several mainstream, cheaper products that work for me instead of the stuff at the health food store (although sometimes i splurge there, there is nothing like...
  9. hi! i'm very interested in getting together... you guys still up for it?

  14. i ate peanuts on my May 16 flight to Spain on Delta! i did have one teary moment when they thought that my gluten-free meal wasn
  15. Hi! Hope this finds you all well. I'm really enjoying getting caught up on the board; the semester finally ended and all the paper-writing and grading with it! Yay! So, because I always hated it at weddings when they would holler out, "All the single girls, come to the front!", I am attempting to carry out an idea I found in Martha Stewart Weddings for...
  16. whee!! fun topic!! i love thinking about kitchens and cooking. i would gladly take everything listed above... plus pretty copper-bottomed pots hanging from the ceiling over an island in the middle of the kitchen. i don't know why i've always been fascinated with that!
  17. "I'm going to kiss you. With tongue." At that point I gagged and then laughed out loud. It was the most unsexy thing I'd ever heard on TV!!! If I watch the new show, though, it'll be to see Tim Daly... despite the worst line ever. He is wow.
  18. i'm so sorry to hear about your loss. she sounds like a wonderful person. the first poem made me cry, because it sounded so full of hope and promise.

  20. thank you so much to everyone, for your ideas and especially the recipes! i hadn't been able to check this before my first meeting with the caterer yesterday, but i'll be sure to mention these the next time I see her. it went really well! the first thing she asked me was how many people had to eat gluten free. when i said really just me and my sister,...
  21. Thanks so much, everybody! i am taking note of all the suggestions. here's another question -- what would you have people dip into artichoke dip with? i'm trying to avoid anything that will be weird without gluten, plus the expense of substituting gluten-free products (trying to economize as much as possible)... so i don't know how feasible gluten-free crackers...
  22. thinking about you and both families.
  23. Thank you Momma Goose! I forgot to mention above (although it's probably clear) that this is more or less a cocktail-type reception (not a sit-down dinner), happening around 4pmish.
  24. Hi, alll! I'm planning a gluten-free reception for my wedding in December! I know that there was a thread on here somewhere about gluten-free reception ideas, but I can't find it (although I've found stuff about cakes and whatnot) when I search. Any help with that or any ideas you all can give me would be very welcome! Here's what I have so far: cheeses...
