  1. The promise of light sabers (a trade for the candy) works for two boys - aged 5 and 3 years. They can eat the chips. FoodBank gets the rest .
  2. Oh my....this is what I literally have nightmares about. Do you carry Gluten Relief by Natural Factors (Proteases I, II, III, Plant Protease, Amylase, Cellulase, Lactase, Alpha-Galactosidase, Lipase)with you? Motrin gel caps for the pain? You poor girl. Hang on! You'll make it through.
  3. I think that Paleo diet will likely help. I am inclined to question diet, when healing is not happening at the rate you would expect. It sounds like you are pretty in tune with your body, and listening to the signals you're receiving. I don't remember now, the exact link, but there is a doctor ( Doc Osborne ? sp? ) who has some videos on youtube, and he discusses...
  4. Egg shells are highly permeable. In my opinion, it depends on how sensitive you are; or how are aware of your symptoms you are, that you may react. Have you had issues?
  5. Hmmm. Wondering if there might be a new post for you at an up-and-coming gluten free restaurant?!
  6. I wonder if your gluten free diet is heavy on corn? Corn has gluten also, which some people are sensitive to. Just a thought. I hope all is going well with the new little one.
  7. I haven't done any major research - from what I recall, new labeling for wine will come into effect (in Canada) this August - and (if I remember correctly) it will include information about how wine is filtered also (e.g. using egg, fish parts). I have receieved some flack from people who claim that I haven't had a gluten reaction to wine - but I dismiss...
  8. I agree with Kareng... Be prepared to only eat what you prepare and take with you. And be wary of chip trucks. Have fun at the tournament
  9. I don't know off-hand of a protein powder you can add to water...but, I can share what I snack on during the day. Often, I have days where I have to eat on the run; essentially without a break. I make a large blender smoothie, pour it into a couple of containers, and throw it in my bag with some ice packs. My protein of choice is hemp seed. It sustains me...
  10. Gluten free life started for me back when I was nursing a very sick newborn. He got better, and I got better. Dairyfree evolved from visiting an terrific osteopath who also practises NAET, and made the recommendation. I really committed to this elimination last fall. Early this spring I took steps towards eliminating corn, after suffering from mysterious...
  11. Ha! Corn. My sister (Celiac) recommended I give it a go, and eliminate it. WoW! It was like going gluten free all over again. You know, that feeling of energy, less pain, memory gain, less panic, more patience. CLARITY. Unbelieveable. Now, I'm in the process of weeding it out completely...just gave up my soy coffee creamer because of (malto dextrin?....
  12. I agree, when I first started eliminating grain from my diet, I didn't notice a quick or as strong a reaction as I do now...I'm super sensitive. I try to spin a positive outlook: it's not the grain /dairy/ and grain fed meat, that is necessarily causing this reaction...well, it is. But go with me on this. It's really MY body telling me, hey, you've worked...
  13. I agree ~ I wouldn't rule out celiac...or gluten intolerance. If you're looking for advice, I think it was wise for you to go grain free and investigate if grains may be suspect. And dairy. Since you mentioned grinding teeth in your post aswell, I wondered if maybe (although not a popular thought...and often tricky to diagnose) you were fighting a parasitic...
  14. Very interesting - I've not done any research on milk like you obviously have. In my opinion, there is so much science that has yet to be discovered. This is only punctuated by the fact that so many who are suffering, find relief with eliminating certain foods (e.g. grains, dairy) from their diet - yet so many people go years, and spend a small fortune...
  15. My Mother-in-law cornered me last summer, and asked, "When are you going to let the boys eat REAL food?" This, coming from a woman who is overweight, diabetic, epileptic, and has chronic "phantom gall bladder" attacks.
  16. Interesting...I was just complaining about a canker sore that started yesterday, along with aching joints and fatigue that knocked me over. I've traced it to being cc'd from corn. I'm one of those that had to eliminate corn in conjunction with wheat/barley/rye/oats in order to start feeling even better. Good luck
  17. I'm not sure I'm familiar with your rash - I haven't looked up this particular kind, but I get red bumps on my arms when I have eggs a couple of days in a row. It takes about a week for them to clear. I use homeopathic calendula and arnica gel on it to assist healing and reduce inflammation. I'm glad to hear that your stomach problems are easing - who knows...
  18. Why are you mulling over the idea of reintroducing dairy into your diet? What are your thoughts on how would it benefit your health?
  19. I wonder if you are super sensitive and might benefit from trying a vegan/GRAIN free menu for a few weeks. I was thinking that there isn't any risk in trying. It takes some commitment, because EVERYTHING would have to be prepared from scratch (even some store purchased/prepackaged almond milk contains malto dextrin - corn). But it could be worth a try...to...
  20. This made me laugh! So true for me too! A colleague saw me eating a bag of chips the other day, and was shocked! She said, "I'm surprised you eat those!"
  21. Interesting thoughts. I wonder....I think there are as many (or more people) in denial about parasites, than people with celiac, or gluten intolerance. I've wondered if there isn't a connection between the two also. But, I've also wondered if celiac makes you more predisposed to parasite infection. I've also wondered if it is a trigger. From what I...
  22. I'm not familiar with someone so young having part of their intestine removed - my grandmother ( she'll be 90 in two weeks! ) had this done a few months back. She is trying to embrace the gluten free diet, but has difficulty. With regards to the food journal - great idea. I suppose it is for your son's father to write in also? I would think that if he knows...
  23. Been there. Hang in there. Tiring days, and tiring nights. But full of blessings. I drank lots of nursing tea - and I didn't even have to go to a health food store to get it - my grocery store carried it. I'd make a big pot of it each morning and keep it in the fridge. I also ate lots of avocados, and smoothies with hemp seed. Homeopathic remedy = dulcamara...
  24. I no longer have bloating unless I slip up. What is your instinct about what might be causing it? Do you suspect it is something dietary causing inflammation?
  25. I'm curious too. It concerns me that it is taking a long ttime for some people to heal. This makes me wonder if there isn't something in addition to the usual "wheat, barley, rye and sometimes oats" elimination that has to take place. As a trial, I have eliminated corn - this pains me more than eliminating wheat, to be honest. I miss a bowl of popcorn more...
