  1. Maybe I should not admit it. I cook in my hotel room. I bring an electric skillet and my food and stuff the little refrigerater full. I also bring a large stainless steel kettle to wash dishes in. I sometimes bring a crock pot. Once a maid complained when she saw the crock pot. Our pot was moved to the lobby for the rest of the day. All was well when...
  2. Greetings, If you had a chance to read many of these posts, I am sure you are finding many of us are in the same boat. I hope you will be able to learn what is right for your body and that you will get well soon. I can relate to the why is food so complicated question. I am living in a family eating gluten also. I think it will get less complicated...
  3. I always have tried to focus on getting healthy rather than an ideal weight. I make some great shakes with coconut milk and fruit. Coconut oil is very healthy and full of calories. You might also try pouring olive oil on things to up your calorie intake. I use it on veggie sticks and cooked vegetables. Salt makes it more palatable, I think. I make...
  4. *My dentist noticed the enamel off of my teeth by 1990. *A dentist, in alarm, said you have allergies big time. 199-. *My Obstetritian told me she thought I had 5% of my bone mass left at age about 25. All of the above were given without advice or information about what to do. It was totally mysterious and I shrugged it off. My chiropractor...
  5. "I'll never go back to the gluten grains, but I'm not going to be so tough on myself as to cut out everything at once. Later I'll cut down the others bit by bit" I took the another approach. I would rather cut everything first, so I don't have more bad news later! I cut all grains in hopes I could have some back. However, I found that I had withdrawl...
  6. Experiences that could take the cake: Pregnancies: Being realeased from a hospital in a strange city (Dallas University Hospital) at 10 pm to drive strange dark roads while nauseated. I went as far as Plano and found our temporary apartment without any wrong turns. The only time I had traveled these roads was when I drove to the hospital from...
  7. After cutting all grain: I sensed that my energy level increased. My mood is better, atleast when I am not having withdrawl symptoms. I feel strong. Some numbness I had might be going away. My gums are toughening. I believe I am losing edema. My body feels firm instead of sqishy. I am losing inches in my abdomen, but maybe not losing much weight...
  8. I went grain free in order to get control of my body. There also could be other food intolerances that you may want to consider. Get better soon, please.
  9. I am so glad we can feel circumstances that help motivate us.
  10. I just want to encourage you not to give in to your cravings. You and your baby need good food. I know you know that, but ...Just keep it away from the house and eat at home. Stay well.
  11. Welcome to what I think is Gluten Withdrawl symptoms. I have a few tiny spots of goofy rash. I am in my first 3 months of gluten withdrawl. These did not appear right away. Mine are mild and recovering quickly. Diana
  12. Get better soon, please. Please do explore gluten free diet and testing. I did a genetic test through the Gluten Free Society. They have a website and I recommend visiting it to help determine diet. The genetic test checks to see if you have gene alleles for gluten sensitivity. My MD believed the tes,t even when her IGG tests showed negative. The test...
  13. :(I have felt that My family was preferring gluten to me. I just found out that my family feels rejected too. Which is more important, my health or them? Can I treat them kindly even though I feel rejected, frustrated and misunderstood? I hope the Lord will help me to do just that. I don't feel like I can heal without their supporting me. How does...
  14. Event my "gluten free" oats said they can be called that with some gluten. Be careful. I am not eating any for now.
  15. My dentist noticed the enamel off my teeth when I was about 20. It must have happened when I was 16 or 17 when I had braces. Where glue had been the enamel had been kept safe. I was diagnosed with Gluten intolerance when I was 48! I realized lately that I react to the teeth cleaning. Even if I have been flossing regularly, the hygentists flossing draws...
  16. I don't have all the answers. But I just wanted to wish you well. I know the feeling of studying and studying and not seeming to get anywhere. But one day I finally cracked a big root, stopped eating gluten, and started recovery. I am told itwill be 6 months for me to do the great majority of the recovery. Some say it can take 2-3 years and after only...
  17. What a story. It is filled with some very encouraging and some very sad things! I recently remembered that when I was 10 my sister thought I was pregnant, but it couldn't be she said. I looked like it that day. I am glad you are going to follow the gluten free diet again. The sacrifices, I am finding, are worth the benefits. Get Better soon.
  18. I have been taking many supplements for 5 years that I was tested as needing. These stopped my blood pressure from plummeting when I stood up. Many other dramatic and good changes took place, However, there seemed to be a missing piece. That is when with the help of my chiropractor I considered a gluten free diet. Over the first 5 days on a traditional...
  19. Oh, I have some spearmint leaves in the garden and I just can't wait to make tea with them.
  20. I hope you have some fun and learn something from the experience. I guess you must sort of overwhelm your body by eating so much gluten, so it isn't as sensitive to small amounts.
  21. Maybe you could try a grain free diet. When I did I started losing weight and feeling much better. I use almond meal, coconut flour and bean flour as a substitute.
  22. I have ground various flours including bean flour with a Whisper Mill. I think K-Tec Blendtec Kitchen Mill might be my next mill. I am unsure if it will do bean flours or not. I see Azure Standard has a mill for 241 dollars. I like home milled flour because it still has most of its nutrients in it. The longer particles have been ground the more it...
  23. Has anyone used essential oils to prevent or relieve a gluten attack? I think someone ought to explore there use in all of these situations. That being said I was feeling dizzy in the kitchen and Peppermint essential oil seemed to help. Ginger is supposed to be good for gas. I don't think I have more than scratched the surface.
  24. I think it may be the yeast in the bread rather than the gluten, but all I need is a wiff.
