  1. Happy Happy Happy is pretty good. Can be a tad on the dry side but definately worth going to. I keep meaning to try Babycakes which is another gluten-free bakery in the city, You will not be disappointed with Risotteria. It's awesome.
  2. Thanks guys!! You saved me a few dollars. I'm definately gonna try that recipe for sweet and sour sauce. How long does it stay for if I bottle it?
  3. Are they any good? I was thinking of trying the Ginger Stir Fry and the Sweet and Sour sauces.
  4. I know the Fleishmann sticks of margarine are gluten-free but does anyone know if the soft serve variety in the tubs are ok?
  5. Risotteria is by far one of the best gluten-free restaurants in the city. However if you want something a bit closer to where you are going to be there is an italian restaurant in Times Square called Osteria Al Doge. It is upscale italian (but not to pricey) so it's not all the typical chicken parm kinda stuff. Anyway, I went there during lunch one day with...
  6. OMG how awesome!!! Congrats.
  7. Have you had your thyroid checked? I found out a few years ago that I have an underactive thyroid, and have been taking Synthroid daily since. It has really helped my energy level. I used to be so tired that by 2:00 pm I could barely keep my eyes open. Now between that and beginning to eat gluten-free I have more energy than ever.
  8. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I don't have any cracker or nausea suggestions but wanted to congratulate you and your husband.
  9. We use Premio. (Not sure if you mean breakfast sausage or sausage that you would use for entrees). This is sausage that I had to gluten-free pasta : )
  10. 6:00 should work for me. I don't really have a set time that I get out but on a Friday I usually leave around 5:30. I work in Times Square so I just hop on the subway across the street : )
  11. Does anyone know if the caramel quaker corn quakes are gluten-free? On the site it says the will not confirm if they are, but I was wondering if anyone has had an experience with this product. Open Original Shared Link
  12. I thought corn starch was gluten-free but then my brother mentioned yesterday that he found a list that said it was not. I've only used it once since going gluten-free but can someone clarify for me?
  13. I would definately say I am positive. When I found out I had celiac disease I had a pity party for myself for about 48 hours and then I did what I always do when presented with a tough situation.... I grabbed the bull by the horns and did (and continue to do) everything in my power to educate myself about how to help myself. However just as you said you...
  14. YAY!!!!! I'm also gonna come straight from work. I figure we'll firm up an exact time closer to the date. I attached a link with their direction page. I take the 1 / 9 to Christopher St. and then it's just a block or two. But I'm not sure what Subways are near you guys. I work in the middle of Times Square so having all the subways across the street is...
  15. Hey guys. So how about another dinner (or a 1st dinner I should say) on Friday, Dec. 9th - say 6:00/6:30ish? You can never have to much Risotteria... and Stefi you'll need a study break : ) I totally 2nd the we're so lucky to live in NY thing. I think there are some other places like Canada, and I've heard a lot of Europe that are even more celiac disease...
  16. I saw this topic and just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Ok so there are the obvious benefits of having a bf or gluten-free who is celiac disease; but I think the right person will be considerate of your needs regardless of being celiac disease or not. I have to be honest, I'm completely shocked at how awesome my husband is about my celiac disease. This sounds...
  17. Dani I wil def' get back to you on the Greeley thing. I have a couple friends that went there in that are the same age as me, but I'm going to ask my friend Melissa Stewart. Fri, Jan. 6th definately works for me!! But I agree - let's do something sooner too. Maybe the 1st or 2nd week in December? I don't have a calendar handy (I just moved recently - nothing...
  18. This really is funny. I don't know your FI or his brother, but I'm going to ask a friend that went to Greeley that is my age (yes, 28). So I know Stefi isn't done with finals until Dec. 18th but of everyone else is available before then - well you can never have to many trips for gluten-free pizza!!
  19. I've had it and been fine. Hope you feel better.
  20. Ok well I'm answering my own question for those interested. I found out from a friend (the easier version) that duck sauce is gluten-free. Good alternative for chinese food when I don't feel like spending the money on PF Changs (which is awesome)!
  21. My assistant ordered me brownies from here for my birthday and they were AWESOME!!! I've been raving about this place since.
  22. I've only eaten in a diner a few times since being diagnosed. I've gotten a cheese omelette & tea each time (which is normally what I got anyway). But like everyone said, everytime I was really worried about cross contamination. I've been fine but it is probably the place I feel the least safe eating.
  23. Yeah unfortunately no more knishes for us but there is still tons of stuff we can eat there. Most of the soups are gluten-free which is so great because I'm way to lazy to make homemade soup and my dad's are the best. A lot of the recipes are actually my grandma's. I haven't been to Babycakes yet. I was thinking of going there next Wednesday after work...
  24. Oh and Stefi - I just moved from Hartsdale!!! I've mentioned it in other posts but I should let you guys know that my dad owns restaurants in Hartsdale and Yonkers and he is going to create a gluten-free menu, but in the meantime a lot of his items are gluten-free already. The restaurant is Epsteins. It's kosher delicatessen food.
  25. Ok so we MUST meet up at Risotteria!!! Shall we pick a day after the holidays?!! Dani - I actually grew up in Northern Westchester, Pound Ridge. I went to your fiances rival high school (LOL)!!! He went to Greeley right? I went to Fox Lane. Do you mind me asking how old he is? Lauren & Danielle - I work at Golf Digest at Conde Nast. I've been at...
