  2. I believe Polly-O ricotta cheese is gluten-free. It is made my Kraft and I'm pretty sure I don't remember seeing anything on there that identified wheat or gluten.
  3. Hi Jessica, Everybody Eats Inc. has a challah bread you can order as well as chanukah cookies (which I think are their sugar cookies cut into menorahs and dreidels). You can make potato pancakes gluten free as long as you don't add the matzoh meal. It might not hold together as well but the taste should still be virtually the same. I've always had...
  4. OMG I love the Godiva truffles. The marzapan ones are the best things ever. I've been mourning the thought of not having them : (
  5. Ok I have to be honest, I'm kinda feeling like I'm being attacked for sharing what I thought was good news. Obviously this is a decision that each individual needs to make for themselves whether or not they are comortable reintroducing oats into their life. Personally if I have 2 sources that are considered credible telling me I can safely eat certain...
  6. I too think this is a great response. In fact last night I made myself some delicious chicken & cheese taquitos from Trader Joe's with Old El Paso Refried Beans (one of their brands) and some extra cheese melted on top. Yummy!!
  7. Awesome. Thanks!! I'm psyched to see the EZ Marinader Teriyaki on there.
  8. Yeah I saw a brand in the store last night, Breadshop - that all the ingredients seemed ok. I called the company but they wouldn't say if it is gluten-free or not because under their guidelines oats are not ok. But she said if Oats are ok then it seems they would be fine. I think I'll get the ingredients and send Anne and e-mail to see what she thinks.
  9. I went to a meeting yesterday where Dr. Peter Green from the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University was the main speaker. He and Anne Roland Lee, the expert celiac nutritionist, said that it is infact safe for us to have oats. They suggest introducing them in very small quantities to start with but say it is a good idea to eat them if you can as it...
  10. I read Gluten Free Bible when I was first diagnosed and found it both informative and humorous at the same time. I would recomend it.
  11. They're not corn tortillas and I haven't tried them yet, but I noticed today at my local health food store with the rest of the frozen breads, there were brown rice tortillas that were the larger size from Enjoy Life Foods.
  12. I mainly drink Ketel One with 7 Up (Sprite) and lemon now. I used to drink Stoli & 7 or beer but I'm not sure if Stoli is safe for us and obviously beer is not.
  13. I'm not sure exactly what is NE Connecticut, but I grew up in NY right on the border of New Cannan, CT. What town are you from? I go to Wilton once a week for work, and my brother lives in Monroe. I also have family all throughout CT.
  14. LOL!!! I'm up for it Lauren : ) Have you tried the yellow cake they have with raspberry and chocolate frosting? I don't think they have it every day but it is awesome!
  15. Just as an FYI... most cosmetics are produced by 1 of 2 major brands and even then they don't produce them. They are actually produced by again 1 of 2 companies you have never heard of. The major label brands that you buy from simply have these companies tweak the product a bit to their liking and then put their name on it. I mention this because I know...
  16. I've been meaning to try Peter's but haven't made it there yet. I've been to Risotteria a few times, which is awesome. A few of us are meeting there next Friday, Dec. 9th after work around 6:00. You should join us. I know Sambuca has a gluten-free menu and I actually loved that place before finding out I had celiac disease so that's another one I've been...
  17. The fudgie at Risotteria is AMAZING!!!! I went there a few months ago with 2 non-celiac friends and we were all devouring that thing as if we'd never eaten before!!
  18. Ok so here's the response from Hale & Hearty. While Andrew was very polite he doesn't seem to know much about what we can and can't eat. Response from Hale & Hearty Soups Thanks for your email. I checked with our chef and although I cannot guarantee which soups do or do not contain gluten, I can tell you which soups would have specifically...
  19. OMG seriously, Ruby Foo's has a gluten-free menu!! That's hysterical. I work about a block or so from there. To be honest working in Times Square (or NY in general) we make fun of all those places but sometimes you just have to give in. I smell a group lunch at RF tomorrow!! LOL! I haven't heard back from H&H yet but will post when (if) I do.
  20. I just e-mailed them a little while ago to see if any of their soups are gluten-free (and will ofcourse post the response when I get it); but does anyone happen to have any info. I'm starving, and craving hot soup for lunch.
  21. These look YUMMY!!!! Thanks!
  22. Love your picture : )
  23. Doug do you and Monica want to move to NY?!! I just looked at her website and am salavating. Thanks for posting this. Obviously a well deserved write up.
  24. Oh thank G-d you told me that. I would have thought I could make it and keep it for 2 months like a store bought sauce. This link is awesome. You rock!! Thanks.
