  1. I just bought this at the supermarket after reading all the ingredients that seem to be fine. I tried to call from the market to check but after being on hold for about 10 minutes I figured I'd just buy it. Before I use it I'd like to see if anyone else uses this. I bought the Teriyaki Ginger one.
  2. I totally thought the fact that I'm usually freezing during the day but am sweating to death while I'm sleeping was related to my thyroid disorder. Does this have something to do with the celiac? My feet are always freezing (I have them wrapped around a blanket right now). Probably doesn't help that I hate to wear socks. Even during the summer I always...
  3. We just went there on our honeymoon a couple months ago. Definately go to Roy's. They are very accomodating and will let you know what on the menu you can have, and will alter things accordingly for you. For instance there was a dish that was ok for me to have but I wanted the fish from a different dish instead so they simply made it with the one I wanted...
  4. Ok never mind. I found a website that lists restaurants on the Upper East Side and once I saw the name I recognized it. It was Pintaile's. However I called just now to double check that they have gluten-free pizza and it's Whole Wheat Crust they have not gluten-free. Oh well. I love Risotteria anyway, just figured I'd check.
  5. Not sure if any fellow NY'ers will know of this place. I was at a party last night and someone I was talking to mentioned a pizza place near her apartment that makes gluten-free pizza. She said she actually prefers getting this to the normal pizza. Problem is I can't remember the name of the place. She lives on 70th and York Ave. so it would be near there...
  6. I'm glad to hear you had such a wonderful time in NYC. I've been meaning to go to Bistango. I went to Happy Happy Happy when I was first diagnosed and had the same expectations and reaction to the appearance : ) Come back and visit us again soon. You need to try Risotteria!
  7. McCormick's Taco seasoning is gluten-free. Considering I'm eating it on Fritos I can't tell the difference between that or if it were real chili.
  8. To be honest I'm not entirely sure what caused mine to be triggered. I know I had the genetic disposition because how I ended up getting diagnosed was after my 1st cousin found out she had developed it. We know hers was triggered by her pregnancy. I had been getting sick and having symptoms for about 8 years or so and they were getting pretty bad right before...
  9. 1. Tostitos & Salsa 2. Fresh Mozarella & Tomato (From Stew Leonards) 3. Meat/Poultry - steak on the grill, lamb chops, chicken, etc. 4. Chili with Frito Scoops (I just make it with taco seasoning now instead of the chili seasoning) 5. Ice Cream -- Preferably Haagen Dasz Rocky Road or Coffee or Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey or Cherry Garcia
  10. Your co-workers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This is the type of behavior I wouldn't be shocked to hear about from some kids in middle school, but adults in a professional environment. These people are truly mean, pathetic and disgraceful humans. I'm so sorry you had to have this experience. Although my co-workers may tease me sometimes...
  11. I don't think they consider any of their products safe due to cross contamination.
  12. Mine looks better in print than it actually was today: Breakfast: - Grapes (Red) - Lipton Tea with lots of sugar (I use sickening amounts of sugar) Lunch: - Grilled Chicken slices - Roasted squash Snack: - Cremalita Blueberries & Cream Frozen Yogurt with Hershey's Syrup Dinner: - gluten-free Pizza (it wasn't that great) I'm still...
  13. Duncan Hines, but only the Homestyle. THe Whipped Frosting is not. It's great on the Whole Foods Gluten Free Bakehouse cakes.
  14. I was just reading through some of the responses to "Do you ever miss the stupid things." and one of the last ones really kinda made me chuckle because it is also one of the things that for some reason I suddenly miss, yet I never really ate. Corn Dogs. I think I've probably had a corn dog once in my entire life, but I can't tell you how much I've thought...

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

I personally haven't tried them since becoming gluten-free because I've read a lot of information about there being cross contamination with their fries. I'm not quite clear whether they have dedicated fryers or not but I do know even before starting on a gluten-free diet I would just about always find an onion ring mixed in if I got fries there. (although...
  16. LOL!! I second that. I've had so many people send me that WSJ article from last week. It really makes you feel loved : )
  17. That banana comment made me laugh : )
  18. Oh I loved McDonald's chicken mcnuggets with sweet and sour sauce!! Has anyone tried the Ians gluten-free chicken nuggets in the frozen section? I was thinking of giving them a try. I heard that Bell & Evans (which is my favorite brand of chicken) is coming out with gluten-free nuggets!
  19. I miss Entemann's Chocolate frosted donuts. I know people rave about the Kinnickinick one's but personally I think they're nasty. The thought of never having a donut again makes me want to cry. (Ok not seriously to the point of tears - but I miss it a lot). Reading through these I thought I'd add 2 more things I really miss. The biggest of all - more...
  20. Thanks Stef!!! I owe you an e-mail to schedule or GTG don't I. I'm gonna log onto my e-mail now and do that : )
  21. Ok to I decided on some mashed potatoes from Wild Oats (where all the ingredients are safely labeled) and a bag of Terra Chips. THere is a Chipotle a block from my NY office but unfortunately I had to come to my CT office today where it's not as easy. Thanks guys. I just needed a tad bit of comfort, and knew you'd all been there. I've had the potatoes...
  22. Something I ate for lunch must have had some cross contamination. The only thing I can think of is I had some roasted potatoes that had fried onions. I'm thinking the onions might have been thrown into a fryer to cook them quickly. I feel better today - still a tad bit jittery and my stomach is a little tender but now I'm terrified to eat. I'm hungry and...
  23. I've never had egg nog and have always wanted to try it. I think this may be the year!!!
  24. I am in Westchester. I don't know of any groups in LI. I mainly stick to online but have found the Westchester Celiac Group holds a lot of events and may start to get involved with them. There is a meeting at Whole Foods tonight that I want to attend.
  25. I have been gluten-free for close to 6 months now. I know once you are established on a gluten-free diet you usually only need to visit your GI once a year but I vaguely remember hearing something about getting your blood test done at 6 months when you initially start on a gluten-free diet to see how your numbers are. Does anyone know? If this is the case...
