  1. Hi all, Just wanted to let you know I am planning on sending an e-mail to David Carpenter, who wrote the article posted earlier, "McDonald's says fries have more trans fats." I am going to send this tomorrow, so it comes from my work e-mail address. I feel like maybe it will be taken a tad bit more seriously if he sees I am also in media. I'll let you...
  2. First off I want to say, Lovegrov I can not express how sorry I am for your loss. I can't even imagine how painful that must be. I'm sorry if anything any of us said seemed insensitive to your situation. Secondly, I called McDonald's and spoke with Jim. Pretty much the same answers everyone else has called has gotten. He assured me they are investigating...
  3. Exactly!!!! As someone that is still fairly new to this diet (about 7 months), I have made it my life to be incredibly careful. I would NEVER willingly eat something that had gluten in it. I trusted McDonald's to be telling the truth everytime I ate their fries. To be honest I trusted them even more than some small establishments. I figured as one of the...
  4. Are you f'ing kidding me!!! I can't tell you how many times I would go out and get McDonld's fries and a chocolate milkshake for a snack. I am so incredibly pissed about this. To be honest I always felt kinda sick after eating them but I just figured it was the grease and figured as long as they were safe this was one normal food I was not giving up. I am...
  5. Thanks so much Carrie. There are definately a few of these I want to try.
  6. I haven't found a sandwich bread I really like yet but Glutino bagels are pretty good. I like them toasted with some chunky peanut butter or with vegetable or Temp-Tee Cream Cheese. As for pasta, Tinkyada is the only one I ever tried but I think just about everyone will suggest that one. Not sure where you live but for pizza, I'm addicted to Risotteria...
  7. Ughhh I was so sick last night. It got to the point I just slept on the bathroom floor for a couple of hours. But I really don't think I had anything with gluten... I think I may have just had a touch of food poisoning. Has anyone had this happen? Is there anyway I can tell the difference? Even if I get glutened I don't think I get the brain fog thing. ...
  8. Does anyone eat this? I called the company and they kinda gave me a wishy-washy answer that it was gluten-free, but wanted to see if anyone uses it.
  9. I think I'm becoming a regular there. My friend and I just went there for lunch. YUM!!!
  10. Well they always make it for me, and I can see that they always make it on the paper so it never touches the cutting board... so to be honest I don't really care if they like me or not. I didn't actually hear them say it, my assistant did. And even if I did hear them I probably would have just kinda made a joke out of it with them. I have actually had someone...
  11. When I was a teenager and through my early 20's I was a big drinker. But over the last few years I had virtually stopped because I just felt so awful the next day. Now I know why since I mostly drank beer or vodka's that had gluten in them. For the first 4 months or so after being diagnosed I didn't drink at all. But the last couple of months I've started...
  12. I called today to confirm that Trader Joe's was now infact adding wheat to their Chicken & Cheese Taquitos, and the customer service lady informed me that they did briefly start adding wheat to this product but they have stopped and are changing back. She said there will be a gluten free label on the packaging.
  13. How about just explaining to people that flour in general is made from wheat!
  14. So there is a deli a couple blocks over from where I work that I go to maybe once a week to get lettuce wrap sandwiches. The first couple of times it was a bit of a challenge to explain but now they seem to have it down pat. They even seem to know to put the paper down so that none of the stuff touches the counter, etc. I usually go in with our group assistant...
  15. OMG how good was that Carrot Cake last night?!! (Well and ofcourse the pizza and pasta).
  16. I'm not sure if this is fun or depressing but here we go: Breakfast - Toasted English muffin with a little bit of butter with and egg white and cheese. And a couple blueberry pancakes (real blueberries though, not that gross compote stuff). Lunch - Chicken Parmigiana on Garlic Bread with Chocolate Cake from Boston Market Dinner - A mixture of Chinese...
  17. You should not go on the gluten-free diet before having the blood tests done, especially if your gluten levels may not have been that high to start with. Otherwise the test will infact come back negative. For instance when I was diagnosed 6 months ago my numbers where through the roof high. Now that I have been gluten-free for 6 months my numbers are almost...
  18. If this is the case I'm having one more Entemann's chocolate frosted donut. But unfortunately I think the reality is that we're all gluten-free for life; no cheating
  19. By your screen name I assume you are in NY. There are a couple really good Italian places in the city that have gluten-free menus if he is not dead set on a particular place. Lumi is amazing, and the perfect date place. (I swear I have no affiliation with this place, but I rave about it so much I think everyone is going to start to think I do. LOL)! If...
  20. LOL!! Thanks. If anyone needs tips on how to be just b%$@#y/assertive enough to get your point across but still sweet enough that people want to help you in situations like this... I'm you're girl!! It's my special talent
  21. Absolutely not!!! I am celebrating tonight with a flourless chocolate souffle that DH is making me. Complete with rasperry sauce and vanilla ice cream
  22. I haven't tried the gluten-free menu here yet, but have you tried Lumi? I had a pasta there that was AMAZING!
  23. I think they had that over the summer right?
  24. I've had the occassionally accidental glutenating but I have never purposely cheated if that's what you mean. I think I've been glutened 3 times since going gluten-free. As a newbie I guess that's not bad for 6 months time, and obviously my blood tests agree
