I don't remember exactly what the different medications where but yes there were 3 different types of antibiotics (but 4 pills) that I took 2x a day. One tasted like ass (and that taste would stay with me all day), and I know atleast one of the pills was a really high dose of penicillin. Side effects doesn't begin to describe what I had. I literally couldn...

ARCHIVED Mama's Italian Restaurant
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
RG - We drove from Westchester so Merrick isn't bad. And actually DH works in Bohemia and drives from Westchester M-F. Trust me it will be worth the drive. I really wanted Mozarella sticks but I didn't see them on the menu I must have missed it. Oh well next time. Since DH works out there (and I work in the city), I'm gonna take the train out there... -
ARCHIVED A Class Action Suit Against Mcds...
jkmunchkin replied to Cheri A's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm not gonna lie, I did for a moment consider joining any class action suit that formed because I do feel very betrayed by McDonald's and am not happy with the way they are handling this thus far or the way the "released" the information. However, I hadn't really thought about the fact that then restaurants such as Outback, Lumi, Mama's, PF Chang's, etc... -
I had actually self diagnosed myself with this a couple of years ago and it was confirmed with blood test and then an endoscopy. Actually this is a bit of a sore spot because the GI who did the endoscopy on although he noted there was something "funny looking" with my small intestine he didn't biopsy it. So I really should have had my celiac diagnosed atleast...

I went to lunch today at Mama's Italian Restaurant in Oakdale, NY. It was INCREDIBLE!!! I had baked clams and chicken parmigiana with ziti. If I wasn't so full I think I would have wanted to try everything off the menu. And John one of the owners (who is extremely nice) let me try a new garlicy cheese bread he is working on, which at this point ofcourse I...

Wow thanks guys!! This made me pretty psyched to try it. I'm definately a tad bit concerned about the coordination thing but I think if I stick with it I'll get into a groove where I wouldn't be the biggest spaz in the room. Although the idea of doing it at home is very appealing, I know myself better than that. I am far to lazy. I'd be more motivated going...

The doctors recommended I start doing pilates to strengthen my bones. Does anyone else do this?

ARCHIVED Born And Raised... First Post....
jkmunchkin replied to celiacuser12345's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You definately have a great attitude about this. I know I personally am so much happier now that I found out what was wrong with me all those years I never felt well. I think for the most part if it ever seems like myself or anyone else is whining about stuff, well I think it's more this is kinda our one outlet where we can talk openly with others who can... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Eat At Boston Market?
jkmunchkin replied to sspitzer5's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That is crazy!! Why the heck was this girl so adamant about giving you the friggin' biscuit! Weirdo. Well good to know because I actually have a catered birthday party to go to out that way next weekened and I was thinking of just eating real quick at BM so that I'm not starving at the party while everyone else is chowing down. I'll be sure not to go to that... -

ARCHIVED Clan Thompson
jkmunchkin replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I downloaded it when I was first diagnosed but I don't use it that much. I find a rely more on the Delphi lists, or at this point what is just kinda commited to memory. I find the easiest thing if I want to try a new product is to just read the ingredients and if I am not 100% sure, call the company. -

I know it's ridiculously easy, but it's the little things like this I don't want to do. -

jkmunchkin replied to jenvan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just called Pillsbury and the rep told me that there is no wheat, oats, barley or rye in any of the ingredients and ofcourse gave me the standard, but we can not 100% guarantee no cross contamination thing. So I guess I'll consider Pillsbury my new brand of frosting. -
ARCHIVED Off The Pill In Late May, Dx In June, No Period
jkmunchkin replied to carriecraig's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've also been on the pill for 10 years or so. I haven't gone off it however, I was diagnosed in the end of June/July and I have noticed the last couple of months my period has not been as regular. I normally got it like clock work on the Tuesday after my last active pill. This past month it was a couple days late and same thing the month before. I think... -

Does anyone know if Pillsbury frostings are ok? I'm going to call them but they are not open yet. -

This just ruined my day What other mainstream brands of frosting are gluten free?!! Please don't suggest making my own. -
Check out the March issue of Self, pg. 170 -173. Celiac is mentioned as a disease that is often misdiagnosed as IBS. Not a huge piece but ofcourse any and all publicity is good (I assume this issue is on the newstands already. If not I'm sure it is just a matter of a day or so).

Actually I think this is the reason they are slow to expand; they want to do it right. Because I made a joke saying and when they come here can they make sure to bring the protein burger with them. She said that all their items and practices come with the additions

ARCHIVED Anyone Eat At Boston Market?
jkmunchkin replied to sspitzer5's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I don't eat there that often but occassionally I do. I always get the roast chicken so I'm not that worried about cc there and as for the sides, I usually do I little look to make sure nothing seems to have spilled into the other container. I know one time I went there and even though I said no corn bread 3 times they still put it on my tray. I told her... -
So ofcourse I took it upon myself to call In n' Out Burger just now. The woman at customer service said they are a slow growing company but they do infact have plans to expand to the East Coast. She couldn't really give me a time fram... but atleast this means that in my lifetime we will have an In n' Out Burger - LOL!!

ARCHIVED I Found A gluten-free Buffalo Wing Sauce!
jkmunchkin replied to Becky6's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't think we have this by me. I've never heard of it until this message board. I actually bought Frank's te other night. Also gluten-free! -
Oh I second that!!! I think a few phone calls and/or e-mails from some East Coasters couldn't hurt.
-
Oh I always do that!!! Although I usually cut pieces of the potato and dump it in the chili to save some of the mess. It's delicious! Oops - copied the wrong quote. Well this was in response to getting the baked potato at Wendy's and dumping the chili in.

LOL!! Yup that's your Jillian (And now you all know why I never legally changed my name when I got married)!! Long story why I used it for this though.
