  1. No they're not the chestnuts. I don't think they sell those on the streets here anymore. I haven't seen them in years. These are more like a peanut (i think they also have almonds and cashews), with like a sweet candy shell to them. One of these I may ask one of the vendors if he knows what goes into making them. LOL!!
  2. Do you need a bread machine to make Anna's? I have heard people rave about this bread but I don't want to get a bread machine just yet.
  3. Is this for their lotions and stuff or cosmetics? I know what company produces their cosmetics and VS should be able to give you an answer. It is the same company that does many of the other brands that people inquire about and if they can give an answer, VS should be able to also. But I don't know who does their body care.
  4. Ok so this is completely random, and I don't know if they sell these anywhere but NYC, but I'm totally craving hot nuts. (this may not be the technical name, but they are literally the hot nuts they sell from vendor carts on the street). Clearly there is no where I'm going to be getting an ingredient list from, but has anyone tried eating these and been...
  5. I use either Burts or Lobello.
  6. I don't get necessarily the same type of stomach pains I get when I'm glutened. But I do get a stomach ache and the "other" side effects.
  7. It may just be the dairy thing. Do you ever have any problems with any other sorts of dairy? I find I can tolerate certain forms of dairy better than others. Cream cheese is definately one of those things that can be tempromental for me.
  8. Does anyone know if this is gluten-free? I went on their website and it says that their sides do contain gluten, but doesn't specify which ones. However I thought Country Crock/Unilever was one of the brands that will list any gluten, and nothing on the ingredients looks like it would contain any gluten.

    ARCHIVED Oahu? Maui?

We rented a Jeep also on both islands. I would definately reccomend that. And the 4WD comes in handy especially on the Road to Hana. We actually really put it to the test trying to go see the Blue Pools, which we successfully navigated through the rocks, flood waters, etc... but then there was some big Hawaiian guy standing with his arms crossed who informed...

    ARCHIVED Oahu? Maui?

LOL!! I still say that was one of the worst decisions I ever made. I actually had us signed up to do the bike version of it even but once I read that atleast 1 - 2 people per week die on that I cancelled that reservation real quick. Hi, can we say completely uncoordinated girl with no depth perception!!! Somehow I don't think biking down a mountain that twists...
  11. Never had that but seriously get Namaste!! Open Original Shared Link
  12. No this is in Sleepy Hollow, NY. But good to know about the Grainless Baker.

    ARCHIVED Oahu? Maui?

I agree, must do the Road to Hana. Unfortunately we didn't have the option of going all the way around because of some road closure or something, but we did end up seeing when we did the sunrise tour to Mt. Haleakka (sp?). Mark Twain said there are 2 kind of fools. "those that never take the Road to Hana and those that do it more than once." LOL!!! Really...
  14. I had a horrible and then a good experience with United. When I flew to Hawaii (from NY... not a short flight); despite requesting a gluten-free meal months ahead of time and being assured it was added to all legs of my flights... well imagine my suprise when the flight attendant informed me there was no meal service on this flight. They did have meals...

    ARCHIVED Oahu? Maui?

I just went to Maui on my honeymoon back in October. (well and the Big Island but that won't help you). There is an Outback which has a gluten-free menu, and in the same shopping center as Outback there is a restaurant called Roy's (probably one on Oahu also) that while they don't have a gluten-free menu they are EXTREMELY helpful and accomodating. Just...
  16. 7:00 works for me!!! Actually it's kinda better.
  17. I am going to try and go to a local celiac support group meeting in a couple weeks and one of the vendors attending is from Mr. Ritts bakery. We can pre-order items to pick up at the meeting. Anyone have any favorites they want to suggest I order?!!
  18. Hebrew National is gluten-free.
  19. 7:30 works for me. CeliaCruz - PM Mookie. She'll be taking the train from Manhattan.
  20. I used to joke that we were the king & queen of takeout. Now takeout is pretty much impossible. I can't remember the last time I ordered takeout. And we still eat out, but not nearly as often. I also bought a lot of the convenience foods when I was first diagnosed, and I still like to buy the cakes and cookies and stuff but not as often. I think I spend...
  21. Namaste chocolate cake is the best!! Can't beat it.
  22. I had a few that I thought were weird, but reading these I don't think I can top any of these. I like peanut butter with apples (which a few others have mentioned). I used to love white bread with margarine and sliced bananas. I like to make chili and eat it with frito corn chip scoops. And one of my favorite snacks when I was a kid (other than the peanut...
  23. Will he make those little cheesy bread rolls for us?!! Those where really yummy.
  24. On behalf of Celiacruz, he is coming with a possible +1
  25. OMG seriously!!! That is awesome!! (Personally my fave pre-dx was Crumb but yeah usually it's Magnolia or Cupcake Cafe). I haven't been yet either. I smell a very important lunch errand!!
